Came here for lunch on a Sunday; I'd highly recommend getting a booking here. We had a table of 5, with a 2 year old, and had great food. I ordered the venison pie with mash which was superb, and the beer selection was varied. Ended up spending 2-3 hours here and the waiting staff were very friendly, food natured, and knowledgeable about the menu.

A tale of two staff members.

A tale of two staff members.
One member of staff, Guilia, behind the bar was engaging, charming and simply got the point that working in a pub/restaurant means your supposed to be charming and helpful. Her colleague however in the restaurant couldn t be bothered. I think a career as a traffic warden would be more suitable for her. Reluctantly supplied a little butter but wouldn t entertain the idea of chutney with a ploughman s lunch and quite rudely and grumpily walked away possibly not understanding what I was asking for.

I wouldn t rush back to eat!

A charming pub with a lot of younger people (in their mid twenties to thirties) on a Saturday night. Staff were friendly and the toilets were clean. Could have done with some music to add to the ambience but other than that a nice place to go to start your night.

Ate at the restaurant here recently - enjoyed the food and thought there were plenty of veggie options; a nice open atmosphere so it ll be especially nice when the sun s out. And our server, Esan was super-friendly and attentive. Would come back if in the area again!

Avoid booking and paying deposits .

It has now been 13 days (10 working days) and still no refund. Looks like not much is done either despite email communication.

Plenty of other pubs around the area to book: Perky Nel, Avalon, Devonshire and The Grove.

We stayed at the Windmill Hotel for 1 night and greatly enjoyed it, Check in staff are very friendly , the characterful room was large and well appointed with a really comfy bed, decent linens, mini bar, tea and coffee etc, good toiletries. Breakfast was excellent , a good selection of buffet foods and a la carte included in the price, bonus of the visit is the lovely pub dog Max !

Had the worst experience after what was a lovely evening. The bouncers used unreasonable force on my female friend. Not that weight or sIze matters but a size 8 girl is hardly a threat to a huge bouncer who found it necessary to push and shove her around the pub to get her out. She was put in an arm lock and shoved out the door. You would have hoped the management of the windmill would have seen this as unacceptable and intervened however when you hire people with no morals or back bone I guess we should have expected no sympathy or appology. The food is below average, the service is awful and the interior is beyond dated! Such a shame for what could be an amazing pub for all its locals and visitors.

Went for a beef Sunday roast, the whole table had undercooked/overcooked beef which was pretty much inedible. Clearly not worth the price (which is expensive).
The service was also terrible, asked to pay before even ordering drinks (we had to stop the waitress otherwise we wouldn't had any).
Clearly an expensive restaurant with terrible food in a not-that-great place, you can pass on that one.

Nice pub with a great open space, perfect for sunny days! Didn't have the chance to eat but the meals I saw coming out the kitchen looked really tempting so I'll surely go back to the Windmill for a sunday roast.

Good solid Young's pub on the common with ample seating in and out. A bit pricey for what it is drinks wise, but that's the London factor. Good value food. Yummy burgers and chilly fries from the burger shack!

Great for a beer but not really a fan of the food as a gourmet experience.
Definitely would go there for a standard English pub meal when the craving arises so that says much about my standards so... soz if not helpful?

Bar is in a good location, however the bouncers were really rude - repeatedly made us to move chairs and our possessions for no apparent reason. If you go in the daytime with no bouncers there it's probably great.

This pub is a really great place to meet with friends for a drink. They have a large range of pints on draft as well as lots of bottles.
The food as well is delicious and reasonable priced.
Pub quiz on a Sunday is really good, but quite difficult!
They have a hotel with again is really comfortable and we have used it a few times to accommodate visiting friends and family.

Rude people serving the food. Asked for ketchup and got a dirty look and a shake of the head. Security were rude and were trying to stop us from getting to the restaurant which we were trying to access to see if there was a table available.

Disappointed.

Disappointed.
Saturday. I drove 90 minutes to get to this place which someone recommend as brunch worthy.

My chicken with a savoury waffle was confused with the desert option.
The staff lack basic table waiting skills, perhaps a morning being trained.
A simple drinks order came by installments.
Items ordered on a tablet were missed when our food came along.

A huge contrast to the experience I enjoyed at the Bell Inn in Outwood (Surrey) 18hrs ago.

So I'm going to avoid this place in future because it's just a trap exploiting its enviable location or they cannot be bothered to provide a decent dining experience.

The only person who enjoyed her meal appears to be my daughter but you can't really call the kids option your star dish and I don't know if she was just really hungry.

Popped in for a spot of brunch with a friend. Even though we had not booked they managed to fit us in and my dog!
Everything was perfect from the warm reception of the host, our server to the quality of the fresh food and perfectly made coffees.
To top off an all ready amazing visit I even got a cuddle from the local legend, Max the pub dog.
Will be back very soon xxx

The food was good but was let down by a couple of things, the burger I had was disappointingly small and one of our servers acted like they really did not want to be there. Saying this overall the pub is really nice with a good atmosphere and all the food we had tasted good.
