Convenient and quiet. Comfortable bed. Bit too warm.
Modern, boutique hotel, but room layout was a little inconvenient. *Kettle & fridge were in a dark little nook, which I had to clamber over the bed to get to (or limbo under the TV). *Sink was right next the bed, and no desk space, could've been better laid out. *Had to contort myself around the toilet to be able to open and close the bathroom door (which was necessary, to get out of the shower). *Room was like an oven! I switched off the radiator, and towel radiator, then turned the air-con down low, but it still pumped out warm air. I ended up having to switch off the air-con too, and leave the windows open (in January), just to bring the temperature down to 'sauna level'. A howling storm woke me in the middle of the night, so had to shut the windows. By 6:30am I was done Medium-Well, with no heat source on in the room! I think the room must've been above the local crematorium, or something.
We had the apartment for 4 adults for just o e night, it was clean, bright and modern the staff at main hotel friendly and helpful, one problem we had was the sofa bed in front room wasn't comfortable for 2 adults sharing but perfect for a couple with small children. A great stay for vacation good transport link close by.
Quirky, good value, clean, comfortable, welcoming.. Definitely not a chain feeling.. Good location for visiting some of the East end restaurants..
Great service, above and beyond. And super clean and kept room!
A unique place to stay. We had an executive twin with a view onto the bustling streets below. A good location in an area full of colour and yet close to the financial centre. A good sized room for two and windows down the length of the room. I also loved the wooden floors and bath tub. The beds were comfortable and the room was exceptionally clean.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Modern room, great water pressure in the shower. The neighborhood is a a bit run down (graffiti, trash, abandoned buildings). Also, the shared door between our room and the one next to us doesn't damper sound well. The streets are pretty loud as well, so make sure to bring ear plugs.
Small modern hotel. Nice showers, bed comfortable. Good place for a business trip. Haven't eaten there but lots of people dinning
Great reception staff, very helpful & accommodating
Good hotel, comfortable room (maybe a little warm, but it depends on taste), too bad the cramped bathroom. It is still worth the expense
Extremely unhelpful and cold staff. Had to cancel a reservation due to a medical emergency and it took a week to reach them by phone, only to find that nothing can be refunded.
Really nice hotel just a short distance from tube, ideal location for visiting the Queen Elizabeth stadium.
Bustling hotel in the grime of the East End. The hotel stands out because it feels as though it has been lifted from a nicer place. Once through reception it is calm and clean and trendy. The rooms are small, ideal for an overnight stop. The plumbing could do with some regular maintenance. Reasonable value for the location.
Helpful staff allowed me to check in early so I could drop my things off. Room is pretty small, you get what you pay for. However, it is cozy and everything needed is here. I thought it was really cool that you put your key card into a slot to turn on the lights and give power to the room. Brilliant idea that I have never seen anywhere else. They ask for your phone number at the time of check in and message asking if everything is ok. One of the best experiences I've had at a hotel.
Nice location, close to many places. Friendly and cooperative staff. Delicious breakfast menu. However, the was some devices not working in the room like the tv and the room door handle.
Good option to consider.
Excellent stay here on Bank Holiday weekend. Not the best area, but hotel is very well kept. Rooms looked new. Booked with breakfast which was a cooked breakfast and very nice
Nice room and clean. The only minus I found is the bedsheets. Wasn't clean, hairs was all over the sheets.
Preferably 0 stars! Me and my wife wanted to spend a holiday together in London. Due to a time change, we have booked this hotel for one night, which according to reviews seem to be good! I am very open to every person, but in this corner I felt very insecure, as well as my wife. Nothing to recommend. When we arrived at the hotel we were allowed to check in directly, unfortunately with disappointment! On the beds were spots where we did not even want to imagine where they came from. In addition, black hair was in the bed. We were offered another room on request, but still we felt so uncomfortable that we immediately booked a different hotel. Even if the prices are tempting, from my side is a booking in this hotel, with this hygiene, let alone by the clientele in front of the door, not recommended!
Close to the city centre by bus, good standards and nice cozy rooms
Null: breakfast not available. Noisy room. Unfriendly staff ....
Good hotel in the east of London ... Predominantly Arab area, but still quiet ... Near Tower Bridge easily reached on foot in about ten minutes ... The sink is outside the bathroom (!!?!), Mystery ! Good cleanliness, helpful staff
Have stayed there 3 times now... great service and plenty breakfast options...
Perhaps OK for the price? But rattly building with badly fitting door and no sound proofing + inconsiderate and noisy family banging around at 1am in the morning on the same floor. Taking from 3 stars to 4 because the front desk dealt with the disturbance speedily once notified.
Nice clean hotel , reasonable price , good location, but too much security I m not sure why ?
Apartment clean and with all amenities. Friendly and helpful staff. Metro within walking distance.
Very friendly staff, lovely room, couldn't ask for more
Hotel is nice and clean. Staff are attentive to your needs.
Alcohol free hotel including the resturant and close area.
Rooms - they have used wide angle lenses. Rooms are on the smaller side. Mini bar light and noise is annoying.
Wi-Fi - recently upgraded. I reported a problem and 48 hours later it was fixed. Once fixed it still had issues with latency and time out but was just about usable.
Area is not nice at all. Beggars, theifs around the corner trying to get you to stop so they can ask you questions.
Honest answer - I would not stay here again due to the area.
Great hotel in a nice neighborhood. If you are longer than 1.80, the bed becomes too small.
The hotel is good and the rooms are clean, modern and very well equipped. The service was nice and accommodating and the food in the restaurant sahara, which was part of this hotel, was delicious and the service was friendly. All in one the hotel is great and highly recommended only the environment in which it is located, ... well getting used to ... whitechapel is probably a neighborhood in which many arabic people have settled down. The whole area is extremely dirty and full of garbage. At every corner you can find some scrap, which makes it fun for people I personally can not understand. Most of the shops are operated here by the Indians, Turks, Arabs and other cultures. Most of them do not speak English which makes communication a bit difficult. I think the whitechapel hotel does not fit in this area. Personally, after 12 o'clock, I would not go out any more, there are groups of men walking around that do not make you feel good. Maybe it all sounds a bit racist, but these are the impressions I collected here.
A bit disappointing, certainly clean and tidy, but the room is really very small, the sink (nice) is in the room and not in the bathroom, there is no place to put a suitcase, to get into the bathroom you have to do acrobatics (or you are very thin and not particularly tall). Friendly staff. Maybe it's in line with London standards compared to the cost
The Whitechapel Hotel London is exactly in the Whitechapel neighbourhood. Easily accessible by the London busses and only 1 minute walk from the bus stop.
The hotel itself has a marvellous restaurant and the rooms are designed very lovely!
I can only recommend the hotel, which I booked through the nicely designed website for the best price.
I stayed here one night for a work event. The room was nice, clean, big enough and nicely decorated. It was extremely warm though, but had patio style doors that could be opened (room was on corner of roof) for some cool air, although this made it quite noisy.
The room was fine but there were a few issues with refreshments and food. Free tea and coffee provided but a charge for biscuits! Plus all of the milk pots had gone off. Breakfast was disappointing. Ordered veggie breakfast and half of it was cold. The 'sausages' were those with peas and carrots in! Not a breakfast item! Quorn style or Linda's are a better choice for veggies! Or why not offer a halloumi option?
I DON'T RECOMMEND THAT EVEN MY WORST ENEMY GO
the beds were rubbish the extra bed seemed like a joke in bad taste it was a folding sofa with a bar in the middle that did not allow us to sleep or rest, we complained to the manager and not a damn case he ignored us completely besides not solving the problem he spoke badly to us the attention was pathetic. There was a lot of noise, the alarm went off for a whole night ... let's go on an odyssey ..... it's a fucking horror hotel
Lift was not working, and my room was on the second floor. Not good when you have bronchial asthma. Dinner was good, but no alcohol on premises. Room was fine, but I had ordered breakfast, which I found out when I went down, was not available!
Nice hotel with decent rates, modern if slightly odd room layout with the sink not in the bathroom but on the desk next to the bed (which in my case was only a single) but was great for a short stay for a conference.
Nice hotel, close to halal food and mosque, ideal for muslims.
However, 1 bad customer service experience by a receptionist made us to give only 1 star. Receptionist was really rude. I jst came back to hotel after long day, and wanted to ask them to refill somethings in the room. When i wanted to ask, he just walked away, half looking at me. He was not even listening, i have not finished my request he told me it he did not know about it. Dieect me to retaurant. Rest guy then told.me ask the recep. This recep guy then only realise i was asking him a question about the hotel room not the rest.
Hope whitechapel management trains this guy named Nazmul to be more polite. Were paying for the hotel, even so its basic human manners!
Good hotel, clean room. The breakfast is served in the coffee shop from the opposite corner. The guy from the coffee shop forgot to smile - just in the last day, maybe he was glad that we are leaving ;)
Comfortable and fairy priced when staying in London. A very contemporary boutique hotel. Easy to find. Costa opposite is a bonus. No carpet in the rooms so slippers/socks might be a good idea do bring. Toiletries (shampoo/shower gel) provided.
Good and fair price value. Clean place with friendly and welcoming sraff
General lack of skill and knowledge among the staff, with few exceptions. Had booked with breakfast included, at 7 the morning I ask where I can get it and I'm told that breakfast opens at 7:30, so I get back to my room and wait. At 7:30 I'm back at the reception desk. In the meanwhile a different person is holding the desk and she tells me that breakfast is not available today because of renovations (yesterday the restaurant was working normally though). I mention I was told to wait half an hour before. No excuses for the meaningless wait, nor for having sold me something they could not deliver, nothing, the receptionist just repeats : today there's no breakfast.
Also, the mini-bar sits 40cm away from the bed-head in the "single premium room" and it's noisy, in a very inconstant way, so your ear does not get used to it. Rooms are well appointed.
It is located in the Muslim-populated area of Wachabal and is located in two large mosques
The bed are not so cleaned and the bathroom is too little
Quiet comfortable room, best shower I've had in any hotel
Rooms are horrible, bathroom is dirty, toilet seat was broken, rooms had no windows and broken furniture!
I recently stayed at the Whitechapel Hotel for 2 nights. The Hotel is based on quite a busy road in Whitechapel with plenty of shops and restaurants along it. Once we checked into to hotel, we had to wait several minutes for the elevator to arrive. Once we got into our room, we were extremely disappointed in terms of the size of the room. You could barely get around between the wall and the beds. I thought our room would be decent as we got the premier twin room instead of the standard. I did not like the shower either, the floor was not leveled properly and the water went everywhere on the floor which was a slipping hazard too. Our shower made a loud whistling sound as it turned on. On the Sunday, we were woken up by the sound of the fire alarm going off. The hotel staff did not tell us anything about a fire drill going off at all. I also noticed that the minibar was incredibly expensive and I would not recommend buying from it. Whenever I stepped out of the room, I immediately got a smell of curry and other food in the hallway even though the restaurant is several floors below us. The air con did not work properly, it kept on shutting off and wasnt cold. The main lights were extremely bright and the lamp by the bed did not work. I also noticed that there was hairs in the bed sheets and in the towels.
Overall, I would not recommend staying at this hotel and I do not believe that the hotel should be rated a 4 star hotel. We certainly did not have 4 star experience.
Lovely hotel. Everything about it was easy, comfortable and pleasant. Very nice and helpful staff. Yes, we would return.
A hotel that has no notion of service. The meals are tasteless and the staff inconsistent. The facilities are ok but the spirit that emanates from this hotel can spoil your holidays
/ this is a crapy hotel. They don t take care of the clients. The meals are disgusting and the staff useless. The equipment is ok but staying more than 2 nights in this hotel can ruin your vacations.
Fantastic place for guidance and help for homeless people
The most awful excuse for a shower I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. It was constantly too warm because the windows barely opened and the thermostat wouldn't go down further. However, the beds weren't too bad and the staff was really nice.
Great hotel, best service and excellent food. Everytime again!
Nicely furnished large bedroom. Really quiet hotel. Breakfast could.do with some more work. Friendly staff.
The location and hotel were great. We had everything we needed in the room and everything was perfect for our Stay.
Quiet, good location for East End and getting away from city whether in the city for business or as a tourist
Lovely, lovely, clean and tidy little hotel, really handy for a night out in East London. Well priced, terrific in-house grill where they really look after you, friendly and professional staff, everything you need. If I'm being really harsh I think the single room would possibly be too small for some people, but for me it did the job brilliantly. Best tick in the box you can give a hotel is to say you'd stay again, and I definitely would. If I ever get another "night out in East London" again...
Hotel was not to standard paid for king size room and the bed room was small, shower was small. The night security called Saleem was very rude when my friend wanted to collect her bag after a night out. Called the police on me as i wanted to speak to the manager to complain about the room standard. The Sarah restaurant is built in the hotel so the lobby was busy with a queue of guest not even staying at the hotel it self so it was quite difficult to get to the lift. Called to ask for an iron and they mentioned i had to come down to collect it for reception. For a 1 night stay at a hotel it was the night stay worst and it ruined my birthday. Will be making formal complaint by email to the manager as well.
Very clean, newly renovated hotel, in the mode of Whitechapel, and a short walk from the tube station.
Reception staffs are very helpful and cordial. Rooms are good sized. Bathroom is too small to move and take shower.
I stayed here for a couple of nights. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
It's a nice and clean place, and it has suitable things for your convenience. A restaurant downstairs which also caters for breakfast.
I really enjoyed my stay.
Had a really good 2 night stay here. Room was clean and modern with a comfortable bed. The shower room was good but the wash basin was in the room not in the bathroom. There is a mini bar in the room and plenty of wardrobe space but no draws.
The staff were helpful and polite.
The breakfast menu was limited offering cooked breakfasts with no continental option. Also they don't have any pork on the menu so don't expect bacon with the eggs. The food was hot and well presented though, and tasted good too.
We would definitely use the hotel again. It is in a handy spot and not too expensive. Thanks!!
This hotel was absolutely disgusting. The bathroom was dirty and had clearly not been cleaned prior to my check in.
The mini bar made a horrendous noise all night long and as such I had to resort to ear plugs in order to sleep. The bed linen was full of hairs and I suspect the sheets had not been washed as they did not look fresh. The basin is oddly in the room as opposed to being in the bathroom. The drinks in the mini bar were old and stale which you notice if you are up for the challenge of drinking old stale drinks.
This is no four star hotel. I have been in hotels with less stars with better amenities and facilities.
The final nail in the coffin is the fact the cleaners lack the ability to read their own signs. I placed the "please clean my room" sign on the front door handle. When I returned to the hotel in the late afternoon the room had clearly NOT been cleaned.
It's a decent hotel but the area around it looks a bit rundown. Rooms are functional but it is a notch lower than 4 stars.
Smallest single room with the loudest mini bar. The room was clean and we'll laid out but the bed was too short for me
I stayed for two nights in a single room. The sink was in the same room with the bed. The shower (without a cabin) had a folding partition that was not closed with the result of constantly flooding the whole bathroom. Finally the conditioning (set at 26 degrees) introduced cold air. Cheap price, but how many compromises!
Room and service was very good but distance of apartments from main reception is mad, had to walk up a street full of youth in hoodies with my wife at 1am to get to our room, far from ideal.
Very very little rooms, but very clean and good service
Decent rooms let down by beds & pillows that were too firm for me. The fridge in the room is unfortunately also bright and noisy so had to disconnect it. Aside from the negatives the hotel is easy to get to. The single room was a good size, nicely decorated and has all you need from desk to sink, wet room, fridge, tea/coffee & TV with Netflix. Just don't leave your Netflix account logged in like the person in the room before me!
Dinner in the attached Sahara restaurant was really nice however breakfast was a let down. It doesn't start until 07:30 and I had a conference to get to, by 07:45 there still no sign of anyone looking to take any order so I gave up and checked out.
