I am shocked by the less than stellar reviews because this is a top notch bakery cafe with a European feel. I have never had anything but a quality experience there. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Well Bred. It is a Weaverville gem.

Love this place (ever since my childhood) but they get absolutely slammed on the weekends to the point where there is no seating. I would recommend coming at an odd hour or trying to come on a weekday when you can get a table. The food is great and so are the coffee drinks. They also have an amazing grilled cheese that pairs well with their tomato soup. I frequently order an iced chai, a chocolate orange cookie, a mountain eclair, or a piece of their toffee.

Food beautiful, servings plentiful. Never seen such gigantic eclair as I did here. I went for the petite, chocolate a tad to sweet, custard filling beautiful. Coffee too hot to drink (Americano).Service initially good. However the male server was extremely rude to us when he deliveredour food, the wrong food! Needs to brush up on his customer service. Aussie & Brit road trip West to East USA.

This place is not as good as it used to be. I don't know if it has changed owners or what. Pastries look good but they are not. Coffee was undrinkable. I was so disappointed the last time I went. It's a shame because the building has a lot of character and it's a great looking coffee shop.

Great coffee, baked goods and salads. Poor service. Yes, it was 10am on Sunday morning and the place was busy but when my wife asked what the Swedish cream was, the girl literally rolled her eyes. Sure was tasty!!

Best bakery in Weaverville, definitely a contender countywide.. Very good coffee. they can get pretty packed and wish they stayed open a little later. Staff are always very friendly and good service.

We first came to this bakery a year ago, and it was so delicious, we came back again this year! The Mountain Eclair, Cookies, Truffles and Double Chocolate Macaroon were awesome! I also like to wash my dessert down with their fresh lemonade!

Went in for breakfast one morning and desserts the next day. The food was delicious and I agree with other reviews, the mountain eclairs are to die for. Service was great and friendly the first morning for breakfast, even though they were extremely busy. The next day the service was kind of crappy, and they weren't really that busy. The person that took our order seemed annoyed that we were there, ignored questions, and just walked off after taking our payment. I had to flag someone down to get a receipt. I would have given a 5 star review had it not been for the crappy service on the second day.

One of the best, most DELISH bakery/cafes in all of NC. A must if you are near Asheville, NC. Do yourself the favor and drive 10 min north to downtown Weaverville and enjoy lunch and dessert(s)!

For as long as I have lived in Weaverville I have been going to Well Bred for magnificent pastries, sandwiches, and coffees. Everything is excellent quality, I have not been able to find something that I dislike.

We came across this place by mere happenstance! We were just driving along with no real sense of direction or destination and came upon this little gem! Their pasta and chicken salad are amazing and if you have a sweet tooth, look no more! More

Unfortunately, my curry chicken salad sandwich looked & tasted as though it had been made the day before. Bread was freezing cold & stale and the 1 sad slice of tomato was not very fresh. The chick pea side was flavorless. Kids got a delicious grilled cheese sandwich, though!

When you walk in, take a look at the sweets on the left, but bear right and the line starts on the far side of the counter. There is a sign above, and the people working there help you every step of the way with a smile on their face. We split the Sausage Strata and Chicken Curry Salad. So Damn Good!!! Yes, we had to take home an almond bar and tea cake. So Good and fresh. You can tell they put love in everything. Bus your own table. The bathrooms were clean. The whole place was!!!The napkin dispenser beside the front door was brilliant. The separate coffee station, and drink station, and bus station was smart because you never wait to get what you need, everyone is spread out. Great place!!!

Everything was distinctively and precisely flavored. The sausage in the strata tasted fresh--homemade and subtle. The curry in the chicken salad did not overpower the chicken. The vinagvi slaw...what can you say about slaw? Well, that and more. Clean, crisp, palate cleansing without being too tart. The Mountain Eclair: choux pastry perfection, the ganache stable yet creamy, and the filling almost a pudding. Best brunch in years.

We enjoyed our lunch of curried chicken salad on a croissant and kale salad at Well-bred. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The space is clean and bright. The Bakery case looked so amazing, I really had to exercise restraint.

We had the curry chicken salad sandwich, a regular chicken salad sandwich, sesame noodles and Brussels sprouts on the side, and for dessert a petite eclair and the espresso roulade. All were excellent. We liked the roulade much better than the eclair. Great space and friendly staff.

Your bakery is in a great location, but you are understaffed. Terrible ordering system. We waited 15 minutes for two cups of coffee and they arrived barely warm. Hire more staff and designate them for specific jobs. Your bakery should have a goal of prompt service as well as great food. Good luck and I hope this review is helpful for making improvements for repeat customers.

(Update) one of the few places I will order from post corona. They wear gloves and masks and have taken things seriously /end Wonderful local cafe with fresh deserts and tasty coffee. Beautiful interior with high detailed ceiling and large windows. A nice place to sit and enjoy an afternoon (on the rare day when it isn t busy). There is a nice selection of soups sandwiches and sides. My favorite is the curry chicken sandwich and sesame noodle salad. The service is friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the sandwiches are premade so sometimes the bread gets soggy.

Always friendly, always busy, always good energy. I just recently started working in downtown Weaverville and loving having a place like this across the street from my office. I've had savory lunch croissants, chocolate covered eclairs and I've been eyeing their carrot cake. They have a little bit of everything here for every diet and taste bud. This is a great place to get your day started and get a quick coffee buzz or pop in for a casual lunch.

Walked in the cafe looking forward to carrot cake after a nice lunch. My lunch was good, the person who served me was pleasant and I tipped her 20% Then I went up to get a slice of carrot cake and a piece of pie for my mama. Unlike my first server this new server acted so annoyed to do her job that it really put a damper on the entire experience. It's unfortunate -- the reason I am coming to this over priced little bakery is as a special treat ... to pay $20 for a couple of desserts is about the experience as much as it is about the food and her sour attitude just leaves me wishing I had gone to a different cafe. Because of her attitude I didn't tip her. Nearly every time we come to this location we experience lousy service from some of the most sour annoyed counter staff. It appears systemic at this location. However, the Biltmore location has an awesome staff that seems to understand that treating patrons with courtesy and professionalism is part of what customers are paying for. When I sat down with my slice of cake, I found a white hair baked into the cake. So I went back up to the counter to show them the problem, and ask for a new piece. Instead of responding with an apology or any sort of professionalism, I got a blank stare, and she asked the guy standing next to her behind the counter to give me a new slice. She didn't actually say a word to me. He walked down to the cake, put it on a plate, handed it to me and said "there ya go". So ... apparently customers that want hair free food are just a nuisance. Honestly I was stunned how uncaring the staff appears to be about the quality of service or food. It's darn shame -- the food is usually very good, certainly much better than the service.

We met with friends at this place for lunch. This place was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was very successful. The staff members were very polite and we felt excellent. The meal was tasty. We enjoyed every moment and we will definitely return to this restaurant. Keep it up.

Amazing pastries and desserts. Nice breakfast and lunch selection with very healthy quiche, salad, soup and sandwich options. The chai tea latte is excellent, along with an assortment of other coffee, tea and drink options.

Seating was very cluttered, not allowing us to be very comfortable inside. I only got an iced chai latte which I would really NOT recommend, but the staff was really nice when I asked for a little more chai. The desserts looked scrumptious.

The cabinets in here are a carb-lovers dream! The staff helped me a bunch with a last minute order to feed my entire extended family the morning of my wedding, I really appreciate the effort by them and the quality they produce. Thank you again!

I was vacationing near Weaverville and decided to check out the downtown area. I was pleasantly surprised to come upon this gem. The pastries were delicious and the place has a great atmosphere. Well worth checking out. They have wireless internet, which is great so you can hang out and go online.

Five stars! Eclair & cakes & Quiche are amazing. However, the croissants leave something to be desired .... I was disappointed since they nailed the eclair dough. I thought for sure the croissants would be on the same level. My French heart was broken (to be dramatic) I hope they improve their croissants as it was more like a bun- too dense. Will go again :) oh! And the staff are friendly & following covid safety regulations !

I've reviewed the other location in Biltmore Village, and this one is every bit as good. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the bakery items are second to none around this area. The eclair is one of my personal favorites, and it goes very well with their great coffee.

The staff are friendly and service oriented. The food is good, but when it is fresh, it is much better. We enjoy their Specialty Quiches but more often than not, their Quiche is at least two days old or more. We tried their Toffee today and it was good, but it is no comparison to Cold Mountain Toffee, which we tried over the weekend at the Apple Festival in Waynesville. Prices are alright at the Well-Bred Cafe. At least they have fair prices. We enjoy the atmosphere much better at the Well-Bred Cafe in Asheville, in the Biltmore Village area. All-in-all, we always have a good experience. Their cookies are most excellent. Just Sayin!
