My name is Kenneth Thomas and this is my review! Yow!! A club on the Sunset Strip with real vipers?!?! I hope the snake handlers aren't drinkin, as it would get crazy if the vipers got outta control! Maybe I'll just get a vodka soda, hold the vodka, so I can keep my wits about me.

The world famous "Viper Room" is a cool place to see bands -- that is the upside. The downside is they rarely have decent events and the drinks are expensive. It is one of the last places from the old sunset strip and worth checking out at least once if you haven't!

Cool venue, a little small, but creates an intimate musical experience. Lighting and sound aid the showmanship of the bands. The drink prices are a little steep and the tables always have reserved signs on them but no one sitting in them.

Went there with my Norwegian friends to show them a good time.
All of a sudden my friend gets jumped by 3 guys which beat him up so bloody he had to went to the hospital,I told the security guy to hold the people that did this to my friend but he didn't care and just let them leave, he didn't even help us break up the fight. You won't feel safe at viper room a lot of aggressive people there

Came here with some friends to check out Black Sabbitch (yes, an all-female Black Sabbath tribute band--they rock) and we had a swell time. It was my first time here, and I was amazed at how very tiny it was! I mean, I knew it was small, but I didn't realize it was THIS small. The downstairs "lounge" area is about the size of a postage stamp but it does open up on the 2nd floor, which is the performance area. The soundproofing in this place is pretty incredible; when you're downstairs you can't hear ANYTHING that's going on on the 2nd floor, even if there's some horrendous and horrendously loud death metal playing (which there was). As you ascend the stairs the sound becomes louder and louder until you're completely walloped when you get to the top. The stage is small and you can get right up to it, which is always nice. I love being able to see bands up close. Black Sabbitch really brought it with surprisingly faithful covers and a theatricality I wasn't expecting--we had a blast! There's a bar on each floor and we availed ourselves to both--the bartenders were friendly and on the ball in both areas, so no complaints there. Tiny bathrooms, though, ugh. After the show was over we were lingering a bit, finishing our drinks but security was anxious to shoo us out, which made for bit of a buzzkill, but oh well.

A good venue that's not to small, not to big. AC works so it doesn't get really hot. Downstairs bar had $5 well drinks. Stage is elevated, so its easy to see bands. Lighting and sound were well above average.

I can't say that it is a 100% metal or rocker stage, given that in two nights we visited it there was little distortion on stage, but if you find the right evening then it will become the most beautiful long-haired club you ever have seen! Definitely worth a visit and a few beers or cocktails.

May Oden and his son Thor forever shun thee. Went to see a show here but didn t even go in. The door lady was extremely rude and treated me like a criminal for having the skateboard that I rode there on, and a back pack with dry erase markers that I use for work. I was extremely compliant and had no problem stashing my stuff somewhere safe in the bar (which the door lady sughested), I even voluntarily showed the door lady the contents of my bag which included a bottle of water, band aids, and an old paperback edition of the selected poems of WH Auden. The door lady, however, had an attitude from the minute I walked up and asked politely if I can bring in my skateboard. I am from out of state, in California for work, and was really looking forward to seeing some quality heavy metal on Sunset Blvd. Worst experience at a metal venue I ve ever had and I ve been going to shows for 15 years.

I went here again last night, and again I was amazed that it wasn't more packed. Maybe it was because it was Monday. Super chill lighting, comfy styley booths, cute staff, great service, cool music, blah blah blah what more do you want?Okay if you want more: I saw a hottie getting spanked while people sang Happy Birthday. Will you just go and see for yourself now?

Very disrespectful lady at the entrance. She appeared to be intoxicated and agressive to not only me but other patrons. This is the first time and the last time i visit this club. The female bouncer seems to be acting out inappropriately with no consequences due to rehearsed reports that condone the behavior of the security here. Not a good source of integrity abided here.

This world-famous nightclub on Sunset Strip opened in 1993 and one of the partners for a few years was actor Johnny Depp.
The nightclub quickly became one of Los Angeles' most popular spots and many of Hollywood's elite hung here. The Viper Room became world famous when actor River Phoenix died of an overdose on the sidewalk outside on the morning of October 31, 1993.
During my visit two live bands were offered and admission was only $ 10!
One tip is to check the website to see in advance which bands are playing at the club.
I highly recommend a visit to the Viper Room!

My girlfriend and I went there for Peace Frog, a tribute of The Doors.
Very Cool place, not that big but it's a good place to be when it's time for party.

Seedy but a cool spot with a lot of history. Went there for a live performance and it was a sold out show., the band didn't disappoint! Should have got the t-shirt as who knows when I will get back there. Maybe again someday but for now, COVID seems to be in charge.

Really fantastic legendary venue! Moderate prices on oar to the area. No parking get ready to pay or meter if you are lucky . Friendly at the door and book good parties.

Sound if iffy the sound guy currently sucks. Vocals are harsh and he plays with the delay the whole time when he has no idea what is going on. Like stop please.

Simple sound checks go for almost an hour in between while music is playing. Hard to even talk sometimes. !!!

We were in town for NAMM 2015 and the first night (a Friday), we went to go in and they have a $25 cover for some local band. We weren't going to pay that much so we were leaving and noticed that people with NAMM passes could get in free the next night. We came back to see Black Sabbitch, an all female Black Sabbath Tribute Band. (They were great!). When we walked in, it's just a long hallway. If you go straight, it ends into a very small sitting room. There's a hall to your right that takes you into the stage area. It's VERY dark with the only real light coming from the blue lights at the bar. It's very small. That being said though, remember, this is also a fairly historical 90's bar. River Phoenix died just outside the back door (which is actually located on the strip.) I thought the restrooms were actually pretty awesome. The ladies room was painted red with band stickers all over everything. It's not your upscale place, that's for sure. But I personally love the rock n roll style. Drinks were expensive. But again, I was there for the experience and experience is what I got. It is a bit scary inside if you're uncomfortable with a lack of lighting. It was very easy to be up by the stage. I enjoyed going there and will likely go back when I am in town again.

It seemed like they were short handed the first time my friends and I went because I asked the hostess where our waiter was and she had no clue. However, it didn't take another server to help us out shortly. He knew the wine menu and recommended wines that may be to our liking.

I'm kind of nostalgic...been going to the Viper Room for nearly twenty-five years, so I'm a little bit biased. We were last here about five-six months ago when the Red Hot Chili Peppers were playing. Not a lot has changed...I kinda felt like I stepped back into the 1990s, but with the RHCPs playing...that definitely added to the 90s feel. Every time we've come here, we've never had issues. I hope The Viper Room stays decades from now. We were really upset when The House of Blues was demolished a few years ago.

Love the bands. I paid for a reserved table four times and two of the four, other people sat down at my table and security didn't even say anything. Felt cheated. Needed a discount but love the bands.

This place is sad. Only time I've ever performed in a club without ever setting foot inside, other than on the stage! They wouldn't even let me in to the club with my bass, told me to go back to my car and put it in the trunk, before they could let me in! Pathetic!

Fun place to see up-and-coming bands BUT be warned! the place gets packed and the drinks can be weak...otherwise i had a good time. Dont expect to get a seat or any personal space....

This place embodies Los Angeles in all the right ways. A place where every Angelino can come and be a part of the creatively talented music scene. I came on a Monday night and it was packed! A Monday night. There's a small bar and lounge downstairs, which is perfect to chill, have a drink and relax while local musicians play for hours. Or go upstairs and rock out to the main act. Best of both worlds. This is my new favorite place in town. And I tried a new drink there, it was really good, called PartyFuel(cinnamon whiskey)... basically a much smoother Fireball AND stronger. Good times!!
