It was the first time that I went to orange and the ancient theater C is great ......
It's magical like place ....
I loved the various speakers, dressed in period costumes and telling us various stories of this moment in our history.
I really had a good time that I would not forget ....

For children, retired people and ourselves
Not wise should find 1 other place to tell the beautiful stories of antiquity
Otherwise there is risk of health for some people ....... TO REVIEW

One of the best preserved and most impressive Roman theaters. And here two opposing opinions: they say that filling the stage with spotlights and scaffolding and offering performances of various types, including musicals, helps to maintain the monument. The other version is that all this varied paraphernalia contributes to the degradation of these millenary stones.

The Roman Theater of Orange, built under the reign of Caesar Augustus in the 1st century, is one of the best-preserved Roman theaters in the world. It still preserves the scenic facade wall with its original elevation: 103 meters long by 37 meters high. Together with the Arc de Triomphe in the same town, the Theater was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1981.

Magic ! Extremely well preserved monument. The virtual visit is worth it (explanation of the construction of the theater). The audio guide allows you to get a precise idea of Roman life in the past.

It's hard to believe that this place has been here for 2,000 years! The preservation effort has been immense and the Ancient Theater of Orange is a true cultural treasure. Public access is quite good, so you can get close and really see how the walls and floors were constructed. The Romans were amazing builders and the acoustics are actually quite amazing. There was a choral rehearsal when we visited and we had no trouble ordering the voices clearly, even though we were standing very near the top.

Village chosen because of the many (cheap) overnight options. F1, Ibis, B&B, Campanile. Walked through the village to lower the McDonald's, it was Sunday so everything else was closed but still able to sniff some culture with a 12th century cathedral. And other old states. There are even a number of shopping streets with squares where you can find enough restaurants

What a chance to walk in this theater remnant of the Roman influence on this city. The audio guides deliver valuable and numerous comments. We did not try the virtual tour. Count two good hours for the free visit with audio guide. The museum (same tiquet) we were less convinced but it must be said that it was very hot.

I wrote previously an opinion in which one must understand "vestiges" and not cloakroom, error due to the intuitive writing, :-)
I also specify that the theater was used for songs and performances while the arenas were intended for games and gladiator fights.

This rating only concerns the staff!

This rating only concerns the staff!

You let people in at 4.40 p.m., even try an additional sale (!) Of the 3D demonstration scheduled for 5.30 p.m. - and then mercilessly put the guests in front of the door at 6 p.m. With the hint that the audio guide round could easily be "done" in 50 minutes ...

Cheek and absolute rip-off!

A UNESCO World Heritage Site deserves a more customer-friendly and well-trained staff!
