We had a fantastic stay at the Trafalgar St. James. The hotel is THE best place to stay if you want to enjoy a central location in London, and on top of that, staff and facilities were outstanding. Bruno, Sofia, Eniko, Marta, Diogo and every single member of the staff were always willing to help and that led to us to have a marvellous stay. You can expect the best service and attitude from everyone working there. Speaking of the hotel, rooms are gorgeous and The Rooftop is a must visit if you are in town and want a great view of the city. Overall, a great place to stay in London.

Hotel is lovely and provides excellent service. The rooftop bar is fab, but get there early to grab seats with the best views. Highly recommend. If I could suggest one thing it would be that they add a few vegan options to the menus.

Vista bar on rooftop!!! what a views but if you want to drink here you need to pre-book. If you just want the view state it clearly and they amazing enough to let you in to enjoy and even take a photo of you if you ask.

After staying here this past week, this is my new favorite hotel in London. It s in a great location - walkable to many places and there is a train station very close by as well. The room was very nice and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend!

Great hotel with a great interior design. The staff is very friendly and we got an excellent service throughout our stay. Hats off to the concierge who recognised us when we walked in to remind us we had received a package. It s those minor things that give a personal touch and make this place more than amazing. The other star during our stay was the breakfast! It would not be a lie when I say that I was looking forward to breakfast every morning (get the pancakes!). The one minor point was that the dinner at the restaurant downstairs paled in comparison to the breakfast. If the dinner would get the same attention as the breakfast this would be a complete knock out of the park.

An impeccable hotel. The staff were so professional and welcoming. They really do try to make your stay the best possible. From reception to the concierge, all were gracious and helpful. The room (we had a Trafalgar Suite) was magnificent. Spacious, with the attention to detail I've not seen in many other places. The lovely macarons awaiting us in the room was a very nice touch. So inviting and comfortable. My only complaint is with the restaurant on the roof. During our stay, the main dining room downstairs was closed for remodeling, so the only dining option was the rooftop lounge. It was miserable. Service there was atrocious, to the point I wanted to just leave and go someplace else. The staff were ambivalent and condescending, the food mediocre, and the prices outrageous. Even the breakfast buffet, included in our stay, was ruined by terrible service. This was so discordant from the service provided by the hotel staff. I would most definitely stay at the Trafalgar St. James, but I would not dine at the rooftop lounge again.

The hotel has a number of great features but I guess many other hotels should have and already have them as well, mutatis mutandis. However The Trafalgar Hotel's location is something that cannot be recreated. Visiting the Rooftop Vista bar reveals the advantages of the location at full length.

Famous by its history public place, hosting Nelson Column with four big lions (joy for climbers and photo makers), very nice fountain and the British Museum. People from all over the world love it, also because many cultural events take place there often enough. It is "the cultural heart of London" (same as the Parliament Square with the Houses of Parliament is its "political heart"), so come, see and hear it beating!

Good experience at this hotel.

Good experience at this hotel.

The corridor access to the rooms deserve a light a little more present.

The general decor of the hotel is a bit too modern for my taste.

The staff is up to date, ie very good to excellent.

Unbelievably bad service from The Trafalgar. Trying to change a room date. Numerous calls and emails to no avail. Avoid at all costs. Hospitality on its knees yet service so poor form certain hotels.

Location location location. This is right in the centre of London. If you have only a few days to explore central London, this place gets you to the palace and Chinatown within mins of walking. Expensive hotel with a big brand name. Explore the different room options. Every room is setup differently.

This is a sad example of how a beautiful property can be ruined by terrible hospitality! As an ex Hotel Manager (for 10 years) and a Hilton Honors member for the last 17 years, I was treated like absolute garbage.

I had a serious emergency where I had to move up my reservation one day, and that evening tried to extend for one night to make up for it. The Reservations/Revenue manager had the least empathy of any hotel employee I have met in 20 years, she personally DENIED me of speaking with the General Manager, even after several attempts. Incredibly, they (her? the GM?) told Hilton Honors flat out lies, saying they had offered me a discount to stay and that our dispute had been successfully resolved. The evening manager tried to help extending my reservation but upon being unsuccessful he told me "don't worry, we will fix it tomorrow, you are not going anywhere", only for the next day for the Reservations Manager to tell me to go find another place to stay. This experience will make me leave Hilton Honors after almost 18 years. I have tried to speak with higher ups and it seems impossible. Hospitality is a word that is obviously not understood in this property, perhaps company anymore.

Nice brasserie deco at the restaurant and fast service. The soup was brilliant. The hotel is well located and the room are larger than in much of the hotel of the same category as well as soundproofed. The bathroom is modern with italian shower.

This hotel is one of its kind. Staff are nice and layout of hotel is well designed. This hotel has been renovated recently to the curio brand by hilton. I can see that it has improved excellently and has more character and puts to light more history of london.

The rooms a spacious and furniture matches. Refreshments are provided also at no extra cost.

Whether its the character or the rooms and the hilton brand. Or even the special touches such as the umbrellas offered when it rains. You will have a good stay here.

Do NOT book this hotel on the basis of the rooftop bar. It is very nice but booked for private events most nights with no accomodation for hotel guests. The one star rating is too low for the hotel in general, but I wanted to draw attention to the unfortunate lack of access to the rooftop for hotel guest. We stayed six nights and on at least four the rooftop was not available to us. Otherwise, our stay was nice.

Great location staff clean amazing loved it only draw back which was a sign of the times we would have loved a cocktail on the roof terrace but substatial meal needed and we had already dinned out for wifes birthday.
Would have hoped as residents the facilties are already available without eating as outside?

The outside of hotel was under construction so we were unable to look out windows. Rooms were a little dated, I had ordered romantic gifts to be present in our room at check in but they did not show up until late evening

I picked The Trafalgar Hotel because of its location. The location is AMAZING if you are staying in London and want to go sightseeing. The hotel itself is right off of Trafalgar square on a corner. Springs Gardens, the road where the door is on, is a small one way street that can be a pain to get to or blocked by delivery vehicles. It is easier to tell your taxi or mini cab to just drop you off at Trafalgar Square. Everything about this hotel is about location, location, location.

The location is excellent and this is what you pay for. The rest of the hotel is just... Good. Not even Very Good. If you stay on a high floor you'll stay up all night because of the rooftop bar. The bed was the hardest bed I have ever slept on in my entire life. There was no give. My wife joked that we should sleep on the floor because it would be softer. The rooms were small. I stayed at a Best Western in Sunbury off the M3 and had a more comfortable bed and same size room. Our room over looked the middle of the adjoining office buildings on to a trash and storage bin area. When the person in the room next to us took a shower the old pipes sounded like someone was strangling a dog next door.

The staff was nice but did nothing over and above, acknowledge my Hilton Honors status, make small talk, or do anything to warrant a very good rating. They were just... good. We were due to check out on a Thursday and ask if we could have a late checkout. The request was denied due to hotel being "completely booked". These things happen. Oh well...

The service at the bar in the main lobby area was amazing. I never had an empty glass and the waitresses were friendly and nice. Bottom line: You are paying for the location. Which is awesome. Don't expect a $300+ USD night experience similar to NYC or other hotels though.

The view from the rooftop is quite spectacular.

The view from the rooftop is quite spectacular.

So my first advice if you are going on a weekday is not to go on Thursday or Friday evening as there would be no space on the rooftop bar. We got there around 7:30 and had to wait till 9pm to be able to get space upstairs. However you can make a booking ahead of time to save you the hassle.

Expect to spend at least 15 pounds on one drink though. It's also very easy to locate from charing cross underground station.

Good hotel. Nice and clean and well located.
Security makes it problematic and visiting other floors. Was a little annoying.
Reception does not follow up if they have promised to come up with e.g. Toilet paper. Must mash several times. Otherwise very good and nice service.

2nd visit and a third planned for November. Absolutely the perfect place to stay in Central London. The views from the roof top bar are breathtaking. The staff are all excellent. Love this hotel.

Great location with nice rooms. Very expensive however and only 1 small bottled larger to chose from at the bar which is pretty poor for a Hotel that charges what they charge. Breakfast was pretty good and staff friendly.

Fantastic. Great location, nice rooms, friendly staff. There is a fully stocked mini-bar in the room, and it's 100% complimentary. They restock it every day. This is a small but significant touch, which really set the stay over the top for me.

Next door is a nice pub called The Admirality; great place to grab a beer and some traditional British food. Museums and Buckingham Palace are a 5 minute walk away. Underground station is just across the square from the hotel. The location is really excellent.

The rooms are very old and the pictures online are accurate but must keep in mind, most of the furniture is old and bed frame is actually made out of wood. My friends had a problem with their showe because everytime they shower, water will start leaking through and would wet the entire washroom floor because the hotel did not create a safe shower. My shower would fill up every 5min so I would have to stop the water before the water overflows. Must repeat the hotel is very old so the rooms dont have anything you would see in todays society. The outlets have very low voltage so my friend and I had to take turns on using the outlet and internet is horrible in your own room literally in your own room. Best wifi is lobby and in front of the elevators.
Overall, they have very nice staff and they promote "being green" by giving you a 5euro off voucher everytime you dont let housekeeping into your room. Then you can ONLY spend it downstairs in the lobby which has very exspensive food but little portions. Sad part that the food at the downstairs bar serves the food if you have rom service. Also, the bar upstairs serves better food than the hotel. But location is excellent! You are right across a pub, Charing cross station, short walking distance to Piccadilly Circus, and near many "house"(such as Canada house, Uganda house, etc) to find restuarants you must walk a fair 1-2 blocks for a restaurant. The restaurant I loved going and was close by was this italian pizza and pasta restaurant called Frankys and Bennys which has the best pizza in the world and good family deals! Another one was in Piccadilly, which is a 3min walk from the hotel, a ramen fusion restaurant Shoryu had it on the 2nd day of my vacation, made me feel like I was home. These two are my favourites throughout my trip.

Favourite hotel in London, only problem is it can be hard to find, it doesn t look like a hotel inside or out. Location is excellent right in Trafalgar Square and from our base at the trafalgar we literally walked through history, to Westminster Abbey, to Tower Bridge and Big Ben, to go further afield the tube station is literally across the street!....it s all right there. Rooms are relatively small but very well designed and comfortable. Restaurant is good and the staff are helpful and friendly.
