I just had a fantastic breakfast there this morning with great service and my omelette and potato cooked exactly how I asked! As a long time Dupont resident, I love when a local favorite continues to be a place I'm excited to bring friends to any time I can. Our waiter was also friendly and helpful. I will say that as we were leaving, there were a few concerned people around Dante - Tabard's "mascot" who is a 5 year old bulldog - on the sidewalk. He was not responsive and looked extremely skinny. If the hotel has a dog - which I think is amazing - it's terrible that Dante is in such bad shape. He is clearly sick and instead of showing concern or compassion, the hotel bellman just tried to get Dante to move and he clearly couldn't. A vet tech who happened to come by on the street said he looked very ill. Something was clearly wrong with Dante - he's sick. And the bellman kept saying he's fine, yet the dog could not move and was not responsive. Then the bellman went inside and got another staff member who just scooped up the dog and was rude and defensive, saying they're aware Dante has health challenges. All the people on the street wanted to hear was that Dante is well cared for and being looked after. Honestly, we thought poor Dante was dead on the sidewalk. He's in BAD shape. The staffer was rude as if our concern was offensive when this poor animal is quite sick. If he is really the Tabard's mascot - TAKE CARE OF HIM. It made me sick to my stomach and that the staffer was RUDE and defensive definitely changes my opinion of the establishment, which is so disappointing, especially after such a nice dining experience this morning.
