For starters, I can't recall ever writing a review because I usually have a high tolerance for sub-par service but my stay at The Standard Miami was awful. So, it speaks volumes that I am even writing a bad review.

My friend and I walk into the lobby to be greeted by a front-desk staff member who tells me I have to do my own hotel check-in. My first unspoken thought was: "Isn't the point of your job to help assist me in doing that?". I had just gotten off the plane, I was up at 3 am for the flight, and the last thing I wanted to do was check myself into the hotel...I have never been asked to do such a thing on vacation anyways.

The staff member asked if I had received an email to prompt me to check myself in and I said I had not received one. He then made me stand at the desk for 10+ min just waiting for the email to go through. I never received one. The front desk staff member FINALLY began to check me in after I had to stand there for a good amount of time for the email that never arrived.

Our room was not ready which was fine, so we went to the pool to relax while we waited for our room. As we enter the pool area, I couldn't figure out where the staff members were to help us be seated. Tucked away in the corner was the cabana desk. I walk up to ask for assistance and they tell me that pool seats are first come first serve and that they weren't willing to help us find seats or help set up our chairs. I said "Okay" and proceeded to look for seats myself. Keep in mind it was 9:30 am and almost every seat had been "taken" by a shoe, or some other type of belonging.

I go back to the cabana desk and ask how long I would have to wait until they remove someone's belonging after not coming back for awhile (because they were NOT keeping track). I had a fit because they were so unaccommodating and rude. Finally they helped to assist us in finding us chairs. I get it, people wake up early to reserve seats. But the fact that the hotel staff were so lazy and rude was what got me. I didn't pay for this hotel to fend for myself with zero assistance. I made a comment saying I've never been to a hotel like this in my life.

It also would have also been helpful to know that this hotel was known for having a predominantly homosexual crowd. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that but when I book a vacation to Miami with a girl friend, we also vacation to socialize with a mix of people.

Lastly, I booked the "medium" room which was ridiculously tiny. It came with a little front patio but unfortunately, the outdoor lamp was broken so we couldn't even enjoy the patio at night. It was pitch dark. The room itself was musty, damp, and unclean. There was no space in the bathroom, and no toiletries. Not enough towels either. We could also hear all of our neighbors (talking, blasting music, etc).

The next day we decided to leave. I had initially went to the front desk to say I was not satisfied with the room and asked if there were any other rooms available that I could upgrade to. The staff member said no. A couple hours later, I came back and said I wasn't satisfied with the hotel/service and asked about a refund. The staff member was no help and said I would have to call Expedia. I called Expedia and sat on a call for 50 minutes. Expedia representative said The Standard wouldn't pick up the phone. (Not surprising). Expedia then proceeded to tell me I should receive a phone call within 1-2 days. No phone call. Terrible service. And the part that kills me is that the staff didn't have a CARE in the world about my dissatisfaction with their hotel. Any other quality hotel would train their staff to ask what was upsetting about the stay, and try to accommodate or at least apologize. I will never step foot at this hotel again and will never recommend it to anyone.

Oh, and let's not forget how I FOUND a LARGE PILE OF VOMIT on the floor/sofa in the hotel lobby from another hotel guest. Staff should ensure cleanliness. Gotta love The Standard Miami.

I wish that I can rate the hotel and the hotel's staff separately. The hotel itself is lovely, the view, the location, etc. But the staff is not nice. I called them, pretty much I begged them to see if they can make an exception allowing me to book one night in a weekend because I'm a local guess, it's my second anniversary, and I have to work on Monday. I just wanted a getaway day at the hotel; and Corie, the room coordinator without thinking a second email the front desk and said no. The sad part is that the rooms are available but only if you book two nights.

Stayed a couple of months ago, room was amazing as well as the pool. Only problem was the pool staff took forever for service, but the employees were very nice and helpful overall. The restaurant had some pretty good apps, I recommend sitting by the dock at night if you can. Definite great spot for a weekend getaway.

Stress beware... I have found the perfect place to combat the evils of my daily life!

Massage, Facial, Scrub...oh my! Caldron, I'm feeling the need even as I type. Never fear dear body and skin of mine, for their Happy Hour Friday is right around the corner.

See you soon my lovely haven!

Love it

I love everything about this place, the rooms along with bathrooms are beautiful, the pool, the bar and all outdoor activities super beautiful with an amazing view. The spa it's just undiscribable, for me the best spa in town. The spa services offered (massages, facials, baths....) are amazing, pricy though. Perfect place to stay on your vacation or just to book as a place to relax for few days. Amazing gift for a loved one. The spa has a monthly membership as well without having to stay in the hotel

The pool is so awesome and it s tough to beat seeing the sunset there. The pool is private but anyone can go to the bar and eat there. It s a new menu and it s significant better than before. Well done!!

This is my secret spot to visit in Miami! Uber it to South Beach but STAY here, if you have a chance. So tranquil and relaxing by the water! Drinks and appetizers at the Lido bar! No regrets.

The Standard is a Miami Classic and has such a nostalgic feeling when you walk -in. At the same time it offers its own version of a Chill day in Miami, that's just outside of the crazy South Beach scene. Their Zen garden, that embraces any Traveler that chooses this path, it guides you down to one of the most iconic pools in Miami. We had the luxury of enjoying a botanist pitcher of Gin, next to the pool, Karina our server was great and kept us hydrated. The Roman bath is amazing and they also have their very one 'cold tub' which is great to escape the Miami heat if you can bare the freezing temps. The standard is perfect for anyone who wants just relax and escape in Miami. Next time I will try their famous spa!

The restaurant was probably more over priced than any I have ever been to and though the restaurant was empty, I mean really empty, they said we couldn't just order appetizers and drinks! The outdoor space was very nice and the room was fine. Three and a half stars if it were not for the restaurant.

The Standard Hotel is the best hotel in Miami Beach. Away from all the hustle and bustle of Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue. Near vibrant neighborhood of Sunset Harbour. The standard hotel is an oasis of peace and tranquility. It s pool is bay facing surrounded by lush gardens and unique areas to relax and lounge. The grounds of the property are very well matained and they are always making improvments. Adding and enhancing to pre-existing structures and foliage. The pool, cold plunge, hot tub and spa upstairs are truly the best in Miami. The staff of the standard hotel are always kind and accommodating from the maintenance staff all the way up to the general manager. The rooms are a little small but they are beautiful and well appointed. A perfect place to spend a weekend getaway or maybe a whole month of relaxation. Definitely check out the Standard Hotel next time you are in Miami!!!

Stay the night and lose yourself here. And ignore all the bad reviews. You'll be at home, it doesn't feel like a hotel because of the rooms and gardens, but more like your fancy backyard. Jump in the pool at night when nobody's there. You won't notice the neighbors much at all since it's so private. Diplo and Skrillex might be right next door in another room and you won't notice.

One of our favorite places to stay. Everyone is always friendly place is super laid back and just a good time. A true adults playground. Never had a issue with anything. Rooms are always spot on.

I'm giving four stars because it's a bit pricey. After ordering a spa for my wife that cost $370, I was given a bill for $444. I was told this was with 30% tip. When I questioned this, I was told I could put any tip I want, so lowered to 15%. Very presumptuous of them to bill with 20% and then try and make me feel cheap with the comment that I could reduce the tip, but it's very unusual to do so. Lucky, I don't care what people think. Besides that, the grounds are quite nice and you can hang out here while getting spa services. The pool and restaurant area on the water are really nice and look great for hanging out. Nice vibe to the whole place. I'd recommend staying there as an alternative to the sometimes annoying South Beach hotels. If you can afford it, I'm sure you'll like it here.

Let me start by saying this hotel was awesome! The staff was great ! The food was good! Views were spectacular! I gave 3 stars because the tv is like a tablet I wasnt in the room much but I'd like a bigger tv for when I am just chilling ! Also the cable kept going off and on....and the toilet is so low I may as well sit on the floor ..I really didn't like the construction going on either! For the price we paid it could've been discounted due to construction! 3 long hairs in the shower that wasn't mine...but all in all I'd stay again!

Very good spot! The only thing is that my waitress never came back so I could ask her for my check. I had to go ask for it when I was ready to leave. That s not great customer service. Other than that, everything was great! The location, the food and the beautiful view were perfect.

This is one of the best hotels to go to on a Saturday or Sunday to relax. Lets start with the fact that they have been there for 80 years. Spa, pool, sauna, yoga, restaurant, cafe, and many more great things and details that you will just have to find out on your own if you have never been. if you have been then you already know what's up and I will see you there

We came on our last day in Miami and had the best time - lovely, clean pool, best massages we have ever had (and they even have pre-natal) and excellent service. Thanks for making our day so wonderful!

What a dream come true! Such a stunning majestic place. Heated pool at night, assorted and individually unique seating arrangements placed thru various paths one that includes a fireplace another with rocking suspended rocking chairs, etc. Most definitely a free spirited atmosphere.

We been to this place for over 4 years now, our last stay was last last week. Starting with the front of the house which is always VERY clean and good looking, staff welcomes you right when you enter and the place smell great at all times, we know the manager AMY and she s been always great to us and we see her team is well trained and on the same page, very attentive, quick service, attention to detail with orders and many other things. Restaurant area is great, very different from other places and ambient feels great, food is amazing, pool area was really nice and service was outstanding same as the SPA Which was a great experience and we had so much fun, their attention was very on point and the services at the SPA fulfilled all of our expectations.

This place is awesome. Upscale feel without being too uppity. Staff is really down to earth. Where the A listers like to play incognito and wind down. So if you spot someone famous; let them be. It is a safe haven for them. Great off season couples day Spa packages. Ask about pricing. Great I day couples escape included couples massage and
Poolside cabana for the day.

The pool and jacuzzi area is beautiful and relaxing. The arctic plunge helps with anxiety, especially when followed by sometime in the jacuzzi! The rooms with the bathtub in the front yard area are very nice. Coming back when the spa opens in May!

Hands down the most magical place Ive ever stayed ...

Hands down the most magical place Ive ever stayed in Miami Beach! I ve stayed at Standard Hotels around the world, and it s always a wonderful experience, but something about this particular property is special, and it keeps pulling me back. I ve had four trips here in the last 7 months (twice pre-Covid and twice now with the new normal )and every time I discover something new. It s one of those places where you just FEEL amazing and can really reconnect to your senses. A few things I love about this place

1. The grounds: A mystical garden with plenty of places to be alone and quiet or lively and social, a gorgeous pool and hydrotherapy playground, direct sea access, with docks for sipping champagne at sunset and water deep enough for you to dive right in, an incredible restaurant and coffee shop, a cute boutique and on-site spa treatments. The steam rooms are currently being renovated, but they still do treatments in private rooms and their massages and facials are awesome! There is no reason to leave this heaven on earth, and once I m here, I never do.

2. The Staff: Everyone here goes above and beyond to make you feel like a total rockstar. They are all beautiful, inside and out, and attentive to your every desire without being obtrusive or pushy. Everyone here is amazing, and I feel terrible for not remembering everyone s names, but a few team members have been especially awesome.
Jordan, Jorge and David at The Front Desk From forgotten toothpaste, to extra towels, to lost keys (while topless ) to last minute requests, to making my friend s arrival special, they ve always taken care of me and my friends and made us feel like part of The Standard family.

Crispy the Concierge-Such an angel! And boy, does Crispy know Miami! She left me a sweet note and little welcome-back gift last time I stayed. Such a special touch!

Oscar by the pool My hero who always lets me know when a sunbed is about to open.

Hugo by the pool-Amazing at all times and one hell of a photographer!

Sev in guest services- Sev always makes you smile!

George in housekeeping/pool/guest services: It seems they have him working in all departments, and he does a great job at everything!

Rosanna and Manny at Lido Grill: They know I sip my champagne slow, so they pour me half glass at a time so it doesn t get warm.

3. Safety: They re doing a GREAT job keeping everyone safe in this new Covid reality. Masks are required when walking around the grounds, but pool beds are spaced far enough apart you don t need them at pool or dock or when seated in garden or outdoor restaurant. Everything is sanitized between guests, they give you complimentary hand sanitizer and bottled water and there s cute dispensers of sanitizer everywhere.

4. No kids! This in an adults-only oasis. And it s not like a nudist colony or lifestyle resort, it s just a lush, luxurious escape from the everyday where you can enjoy a glass of Champagne in the pool without some snot-nosed kid cannon-balling into your Moet. I also personally love swimming and sun bathing topless, and that is totally okay here.

Insider tips:

Spend the little extra for the downstairs room! Either a Garden terrace, or if you love baths, get the bath terrace with an old fashioned bathtub outside! Upstairs is nice too and the simple standard room is awesome, but there s something so special about the ground level.

Happy hour is a damn good deal! And you can order by the pool or on the dock!

Have Champagne and raw bar at The Dock at sunset. Heaven!

Get a spa treatment. They re awesome!

Don t overpack. You only need cute bathing suits, a workout outfit (for yoga in the garden if you re into it!) and a cute sundress. You can even go barefoot at the restaurant which I LOVE. It reminds me of my favorite spots in Panarea and Ibiza.

Our stay was beyond excellent. The staff here are incredible, specially Amy the Manager which took care of us from the beginning. Anything you need there is no hesitation to get it for you from all the air team members. This place was beyond anything you see in the pictures. You feel like you are on your own private Island. The Restaurant/Pool/Deck & SPA is extremely clean, Well maintained and you always feel welcome. Well worth the stay and the best time We had on long time. Thank you for treating us like royalty and disconnect our selves from the normal living, this place is absolutely amazing.

This is an absolutely fantastic experience to be so close to the sea. It feels like you're in a resort at a vacation place and there is beautiful landscaping around you with a fantastic pool and a superb restaurant and bar to lounge around with a full view of the city and the Open Seas.

Begun Venetian Island you pay for parking and everything is pricey.

The Standard Miami Beach Hotel and Spa are always wow factors!!! This hotel is absolutely magical. It sits on the bayside and when your in the pool it seems like it drops into the bay. Service is always top notch. Even with COVID rules in place the overall happiness level is quite high. Lucy the General Manager and the team of professionals are incredible. Food at Lidos is wonderful and of course drinks are delicious. I travel to visit this home away from home every three months. That said I will be back next month because I simply can t get enough of it. NOTE: Spa and gym are closed for renovations.

The Hotel and Spa are housed in an old Art Deco building that has amazing grounds and large pool area. The hotel rooms are cute but need a few updates. The doors have cracked paint and don t close good. The beds are hard and not very comfortable to sleep in. The lighting in the room is cheap looking and from an Online discount site. At night you can hear guests playing in the pool late night or early morning (pool open 24/7). In the morning the cleaning crew gets in 7:30 AM and starts banging around the property. The hotel gives each guest ear plugs with the room. Trust me, you will need them. If you are looking for a day spa this place is great. If you need a relaxing night of sleep go somewhere else.

Wonderful experience at the spa today. We had Hammam massages and then spent time at the pool (which is phenomenal too). The music is piped into the pool, and you can hear it clearly when you put your ears under the water. I loved jumping from the hot tub into the cold tub and then into the pool. Highly recommended!

The Standard is exceptional ! ! ! The food is exceptional. The service is exceptional.
And it is not surprising. Amy & Ana strive for excellence & they over deliver. The food was excellent as always. And our server Mihaela could not have been more professional or more delightful. As Jim Collins would say . . . the right people are on the bus.

The facility needs extra cleaning. Shower area next to sauna was dirty and needs maintenance. Bathroom on second floor the same. The massagist were awesome. For the price they could provide better services at check in and be aware of the 30.00 valet parking.
