We spent the better part of our afternoon in the East Village here. What an awesome vibe and great cocktail selection. The best part of our day was hanging out in the Yurt. Try to book ahead if you can and enjoy the relaxation and surreal experience that you don't often get in Manhattan.

Beautifully architectural designed hotel, that pushes up the ante on the Bowery, there's mini office like spaces for doing business while you stay here, 2 restaurants, one casual bar-type and a more formal, where the kitchen is open like a stage, and you can watch the chefs at work at their art of gastronomy. More hotel design additions like this that combines clean modernism (if Calvin Klein would design a building perhaps it would look like this)--while a rambling cozy garden with charming wildlife compliments the hard glass & steel building design--It's a counterpoint of hard & soft, which is how I would characterize the Standard East Village--it epitomizes the dualities of professionalism with a twist, those that grew up as perhaps flower children or wild ones, but that are getting it together and doing something with their lives, both design wise and culinarily speaking at the Narcissa--because you have to be a bit vain, and believe in yourself in order to make it in the concrete jungle! More additions like this would be most welcome on the Bowery that is becoming the IN place to be, Downtown NYC rocks !

Maggie and the whole staff at the standard is wonderful. From check in from check out, everything is seamless and fun. The room service food is no joke And the minibar is one of the best I ve ever seen. This is definitely my go to space in Manhattan.

The staff are great, the upper floor rooms have sweet views. Ours was the south east corner, which had great view over to Brooklyn that were worth staying in bed for. The garden set up is cute, recommend the 'hot hard cider' to warm up an Autumn afternoon.

Chic and trendy hotel and bar! It looks even better after the renovation. Really good place to grab some cocktails after work. The crowd and the ambiance are great! Min, the bartender, makes great on or off the menu cocktails. I asked for a jalapeno margarita and he made me a great one!

It was a small room. I just stayed there because my friend had reserved the room and it was closer than my apartment. I was just there to sleep, and my friend had no idea it had more of a.. Weird romance vibe. It was interesting to experience but I probably wouldn't stay again

Was here for a small, intimate show up at the penthouse. Very cool event with beautiful views of the New York skyline. The show was a bit short, but really enjoyed my time there. Love these cool random events with Standard Sound. Hope to stop by and see more in the future.

Trendy urban hotel in the heart of the East Village with tiny rooms for a big price.

+ Hip and modern.
+ Great location with many great restaurants and shops nearby.
+ Amazing penthouse patio where breakfast was served.
- Tiny compact room for the price. There's limited space to walk around or put your things.
- Staff was aloof and cold.

A great hotel! Great value without a doubt. The restaurants in the hotel are great, the room was impeccably clean and well appointed. The staff were all wonderful. My only complaint may be that the showerhead seemed to want to twist itself towards the wall in the shower due to the hose attached. Also I would have to say that the refreshments in the mini-bar were a bit expensive considering that you are just having a drink in your room and not in a NYC cocktail lounge.

All in all, I would definately reccomend this hotel and I will stay there again. The food at the restaurants was awesome, almost as awesome as the staff.

We were placed in a room on the 17th floor with a cracked window covered with a strip of packaging tape. The disaffected staff at the front was aloof and dismissive about our concerns of our 2 and 4-year-old pressing at the windows in the 9x20 space and did not switch our room. Do not expect The Standard in the east village of NY to be anything like LA. Our room was a shoebox with a cracked window and some nicely designed pillows with lips. Someone warned me this is where people went for one-night stands and what I dismissed from afar now resonates. The tiny hairs on our sink that I wiped upon arrival now are just sprinkles on this disappointing experience.

The Standard East Village located at 25 Cooper Square between East 5th and East 6th Street in the East Village is 1 of the newer hotels in the neighborhood, if not the newest.

I have not stayed at The Standard East Village, but I do pass by the hotel a few times a day.

It is located right in the heart of NYU Dormitory territory as well.

The building is done in glass material, and is similar to the design of the Hotel Burj Al Arab Jumeirah.in Dubai, U.A.E

I do like the way The Standard East Village looks on the outside, something a little 21st century.

The outside cafes and restaurants that serves food and music day and night are pleasant enough.

No offensive or negative vibe projecting from The Standard East Village. Keep up the good work..

Happy Labor Day 19.

Great location for IBM Astor Place. Quirky decor. Friendly staff. Not impressed with the room. Tiny, no view, no iron -- but it was adequate for my needs and is a good fit for one person. Wouldn't object to staying again, but will try other properties in the future.

I did not stay here overnight but I attended an even in the garden area outside. Very cute place with shrubbery and outdoor fun like Cornhole. The drinks are absolutely amazing (try the tea time spritz or the froze!). A great place to meet up with friends or a cute romantic date spot with outdoor seating

I stay here twice a year, a week each time. Great location on upper Eastside. All the employees look like they are models in their other lives. Great bar, very cozy. Great location for walking for shopping and restaurants.

The staff was wonderful and helpful. The room had amazing views as promised. he decor and vibe of the place was laid back and funky without being too try hard. It was actually a pretty big room by NYC standards.

The choice of food for room service was pretty limited. The weird half carpet / half hard floor in our room wasn't very comfy - it would have been nicer to step out of bed onto a soft floor.

I had to admit that rooms at this hotel are OK and the breakfast was delicious. However, I also have to say that the attention to customer is horrible.

On Friday November 27th, I called back again. I asked what was going on, but it was never provided any positive answer. Every time I was passed with the accounting department, nobody hanged up the phone. I tried to speak several times with the receptionist, making them understand that I just needed a document to be sent to my bank, so they can release the money, but the only reply I got from you it was that I had to wait until Monday November 30th to call back again.

All this time, NYU's representative is been helping me out to reach you. However, he has obtained the same result: nothing. Not even the manager of the Hotel was capable to answer the phone or give me any explanation on why is taking so long to send an statement allowing the release of the money this hotel blocked me.

I am trying to explain that $150 might mean anything to a New York citizen. However, it suppose a lot to me.

Hope anyone who is considering to book a room here consider this $150 requirement in count, as it can take more than a week to release your own money.

Solid food at the downstairs restaurant and the bar area is a great meeting place with a lively Bowry vibe. Older than your typical East Village crowd where you can expect to find a mix of young professionals and hotel guests mixing. Definitely draws a local New York City contingent, especially on weekend days (brunch) and evenings.

LIARS and terrible response to their screw up. I was passing through NYC the night of July 04 on my way home from international travel. I specifically looked for a hotel that had a rooftop area with good views of the East River fireworks. Having stayed at The Standard LA before which has an exclusive rooftop, I called East Village a week prior to confirm. They said that all guests have access to the rooftop unless there is a special event, which could come up during my international travels. They explained the special event would be posted on the July 04 happenings part of their website where I could also buy tickets to said event if anything occurred. I also checked on the phone and the man guaranteed me that they would have incredible views from the rooftop of the fireworks.

Guess what, no event was planned, lucky me! No. I showed up to the hotel to be told that the rooftop is 100% closed at all times to hotel guests no matter what and it is reserved 100% only for private parties. How is there that huge of a disconnect!???

To top it off, I paid extra for a corner king room which was also supposed to have firework views. They put me in the one and only corner king with absolutely no views on the 5th floor. Guess what they did do though!? Upgraded the guy in front of me who was checking in to a Standard room to the corner king for free. He was also there only for the night, and who I spoke to later has also never been to the hotel before, and just booked his room a few hours prior. He got a 10th floor corner king with flawless fireworks views.

In the end, they basically just said too bad and didn t even attempt to offer any concessions whatsoever for their massive screw ups. I loved The Standard LA, and after this I will NEVER stay at another Standard hotel again.

Great location but I was not a fan. The rooms were small and cramped even after moving to a suite. The carpet was stained to the point that it looked like we walked into a crime scene. The front desk was not very accommodating and we were stuck there.
