I am here for a conference. My first room had a lot of issues and I requested to be moved. It smelled musty, the shower never got hot, the outlets we're all by the floor, none in the bathroom, poor WiFi. My room was right next to a housekeeping prep area and the parking structure. My second room was much better but I my room key didn't work after dinner and the refrigerator was very noisy. Right by the bed. So a three for the new room. I had to tell at least 4 people about my desire to move before it happened and that is reflected in the rating. Otherwise a nice location and beautiful scenery.

Beautiful location, falls down in a few ways. First I'll say that the staff and conference facilities (food and venue) were great. The rooms however were like someone translated seedy motel rooms into a nice resort. I've attached a picture of the bathroom... Little things really stack up: the shower that only gives high pressure at scalding temperatures or a dribble that won't burn but certainly is a not a "shower". The dirt built up over years in corners. The mold in all the grout. Room cleaning service was spotty or random.

So... Mixed bag.

We enjoyed the hotel very much and will be going back. Rooms were clean and comfortable. She says the spa was excellent and the food at the restaurant was also excellent. We also receives tickets to use the steamboat at check in. It was a nice trip and worth the time.

My only complaint was the spa coupon they gave us at check in. Why give it out at all if they are going to make it difficult to use?

All in all it was a great end to her birthday vacation.

Nice place but very poorly done cleaning service in rooms. Despite all my efforts to get my room clean: I called, explanation specifically what I wanted, the floor was dirty with spider webs in the corners..

Catamaran was pretty cool. This was a Birthday weekend for me. We had a garden room on the 1st floor. Although it's not private, there is a small patio with chairs and a table. Pool area was nice and it had a small bar where you can order drinks and snacks. Catamaran had access to the water with large blue and white umbrellas set up for guests. One of my favorite things was Sunday brunch at the Oceana restaurant in the hotel. The view we had was awesome. Our server, Keanna (hope I spelled that right! ) was the best! She was cheerful, attentive and just made our time there so relaxing.

Beautiful Resort with suites that overlook Mission Beach. Very lush canopy of plants with a small man made lake full of friendly ducks. Bathrooms need to be updated but overall very sweet.

Nice resort, very good locaton. Close to the beach and their own beach in the bay. Easy ta access and good parking. I would give it another star if the bathrooms was as good as everythin els but they are not.

Overall it was a mixed experience. It s likely one of

The good:
- the beds were very comfortable
- the grounds were well kept and beautiful
- the complimentary passes to the Bahia belle harbour cruise was a nice touch.

The bad:
- the room was very dated.
- sofa/chairs in the room were very uncomfortable.
- house keeping was inconsistent (some days the water bottles were not provided)
- linens and robes had some stains
- the a/c didn t work at all (it made noise, but never cooled the room. We slept in 24/26c degrees)

This 4.5-star* hotel makes Mission Bay and San Diego's best boardwalk so accessible that it's fun to venture back and forth between the two. Both on foot and then using the electric-assist bicycle I rented from the larger of their duel onsite shops, which offer a wide array of equipment.

*it punches above its weight

Check out the attached panoramic view from one of my 10th-floor suite's two balconies. The map shows the course I biked around the bay before incessantly cruising up and down the boardwalk, where astute pedestrians are accustomed to making way for scooters as well as cyclists.

Their Oceana Coastal Kitchen featured an exemplary view of the bay and sufficient patio heaters to make evening breezes a delight. The mushroom broth soup was world class, so I had it three days in a row. Their swordfish was so wonderful that I had it on my first and third nights. PLUS they're situated within a few minutes walk to Woody's Breakfast and Burgers and World Famous on the boardwalk, both worthy of repeat visits.

Vacationers don't need a car at this spot, which is a less-than-$25 Lyft ride from the airport, whether or not you stop stop for basic groceries. The Catamaran checks all the boxes for experienced, capable management: reliable climate control, no weird smells or objectionable noise (unless you count hearing the Pacific's waves while deciding whether to gaze at the bay or the ocean).

Their fitness center had my favorite cardio equipment and big doors for an open-air bay view. Their Internet was reliable and sufficiently fast for video chat, etc. The maids are very thorough (and quiet!), and the kitchen was well enough equipped for those who prefer their own cooking.

Haling from Dallas, I plan to return to this prime San Diego spot each year rather than Miami Beach (traffic!), Galveston (dreary beaches), South Padre (less convenient), or The Keys (less accessible).

The bottom line is the Catamaran offers easy access, walkability, solid comfort, fine decor, gorgeous views, and plenty of relaxing, fun activities. Already looking forward to staying again in December 2019! : )

P.S. For anyone who imagines I don't like to complain, check out my review and photos of the DoubleTree Hotel in Albuquerque, NM, where I tore them a new one for having temporary a/c units throughout their lobby for two (2) months, July and August (nonetheless, I benevolently gave them 3 stars). Color me happy to have found the Catamaran.

Older, but the facilities and rooms are very well maintained. Very clean. The staff is super friendly. The only reason I'm giving a 4 star rating is because some of the games didn't work at the Arcade.

The resort itself is very nice, the Polynesian feel of the decor is very pretty and relaxing and the spa carries the theme off to an even better degree. The only disappointment and it was a pretty big disappointment, was the rooms. if you have anything on the ground floor and in the guest hallway to the left of the front desk, be prepared to feel like you are going down a hospital ward hallway, low ceilings, stark white with no design elements whatsoever outside of the crisscrossing bars that sit in front of all the small windows to the guest room bathrooms. Definitely unappealing. The rooms themselves are nothing to get excited over, there are stains on the floor and water damage on the ceiling and the beds are lumpy and uncomfortable. Overall, the hotel gets an A and the rooms a D.

Perfect location.....2 min walk to Pacific Ocean and beaches ........located directly of mission bay......of you want to rent sailboats or jet ski avoid beach front rental kiosk and walk a short distance away across bay.....much friendlier service and better equipment.....the beach front rental place is snarky and rude......great resort overall

This was our first family trip to San Diego and we spent a lot of time looking into many resorts near Mission Bay. After several nights here, we love it! The pool, live music, movies on the beach, free arcade, and lush landscape with wildlife! This place will not disappoint and we will only consider it when we come back! Very friendly staff, from the front desk, valet, housekeeping, and the landscapers! Well done!

The rooms need a major overhauling.. The food is mediocre too. It's very over-priced for what you get. Paying $470/night can surely get you a better experience, especially with the rooms. On the 12th floor & still outside noise is heard as if we're on the street. AC is too old & noisy. Self parking extra $26, while Valet is $30, almost like Vegas hotels. The room smells mold & mildew. All-in-all, very disappointing.

We were booked at another place close by, but walked by here a number of times. Very nice looking place, they were also setting up for a wedding out on the grass with a great view of the bay. This would be a great place to have a wedding.

Nice place that reminds me of the Sunset At The Palms in Negril Jamaica,(which was of course very nice and tropical). A little old, but kept up pretty good with an amazing view of Mission Bay from the tower and some of the lower buildings. All kinds of boat rentals right there as well.

Fire alarm went off at 6 AM. No vents in the bathroom. Door sliders suck. Elevators are slow. Otherwise 10/10. View is amazing. Grounds are spectacular. Walking distance to basically anything you want to do. Would recommend.

Nice

Amazing place. You don't even have to stay to have a good time. The fish and duck ponds are beautiful and the location next to the bay is perfect for a beach day. Love to show this place to my friends from out of town.

Beautiful scenery and lovely staff but the rooms and pool could use some updates. While surprisingly family friendly and with great food I was a bit disappointed in the price point. I feel like with some renovations and minor adjustments to rates on the gym/spa/bay side it would be a 5 star rating. My husband and I still had a great time and would recommend as is though.

Was there for the luau it was a party of 23 we paid $75 each as I was filming with my phone I was told by security to get off the grass which everybody was on and as he was clearing it I asked him about the gentleman and Lady who for standing on it how come they didn't move and he told me it was the boss to me just got me very upset you should not have double standards I mean I was in no one's lying wasn't that many people there whatever

Perfect location, great theme and awesome grounds, really happy with this resort. Our room is a little dated and we face a parking garage, but we aren't spending much time in the room anyway.

We flew to SD for my sons Marine Graduation. The property was ok, but seemed outdated. I wanted to write this review based on the experience I had with the room. It smelled of mildew right when we entered. The shower would go from scalding hot to freezing, even when set on the appropriate temperature desired. My husband and I mentioned this to the staff and nothing was done. It really was a displeasing stay
