Had a fantastic meal here with my wife. Visited based on reviews and we were not disappointed. Arrived earlier than our reservation but were seated immediately and without fuss; the staff were all very friendly.
Menu choice is very good, both food and drinks options should suit most people. Quality and quantity also very good for the price; we will definitely return if we're back I Carlisle.

A Fantastic treat!! Came across this place by accident and am so glad we did! Fantastic food, wonderful service and a lovely atmosphere!! The prices are slightly higher than a normal cafe but the quality of the food reflects why and it was definitely worth it!

Great place! In for food with my wife and the actual eating was great. They didnt remember my wife birthday even though we told them at booking but the food and atmosphere made up for it.

The sweet potato fries with honey was the highlight!!!

This place is absolutely amazing. I went there with my family after graduation. They made room for us even though there were 8. Fantastic food and service. They really went above and beyond. Thanks to all the staff for making our day even better!

Normally enjoy a coffee here especially morning deal. But on this occasion - a very wet miserable afternoon we waited nearly 20min for our drinks to arrive - we were the only customers. Inexcusable - girl was texting -absent minded definitely.

A very warm welcome on arrival but extremely disappointed by the the meals we had. 1 was the chicken wrap and the other the Shabby burger. The chips were not only over cooked but extremely greasy so bad that neither my husband or I could eat them. We only have chips as a treat so this made it even more disappointing. We told the waitress who said she would speak to the chef but nothing further happened. I at least expected an apology and/or some reduction on my bill.

Busy place with a great selection of small plate dishes. Can be a bit noisy but doesn't retract from the good service. Foods seems to come out in batches so more tapas/sharing style that formal dining.

We held a staff party for about 15 people and were extremely happy with the quality of service, the standard of the food, and the overall amount of courses - if anything, there were too many courses, which is never a bad thing!

Found this gem of a place while spending the weekend in Carlisle, staff were really friendly and attentive, lovely food and the most amazing cocktails I recommended the teapot cocktails . You really need to visit here!

Ate at shabby scholar last night with a friend and was very disappointed. Had an artisan pizza which you would have been light and tasty, however what arrived was heavy stodgy pizza which tasted no better than some thing you would get off botchergate at 2am. My friend had some chicken dish, which he said he'd had tastier ready meals out of aldi. Neadless to say wont be going back. The staff were polite and ok. Shame about the food.

Hidden in a 80 s place just down the town center sits this nice little restaurants. The dishes are based on tapas , but with a twist. They re huge, for one. And interesting combinations too. We had the falafel, chicken, hamburgers, Italian salad (ok, it contained Parma ham) and wraps. All delivered to our table with gusto . Well recommended as an alternative.

Food was fantastic in this cosy place which is great with friends, family or just yourself. Beer and cocktails are great as well. Staff are really good and chilled. Little known fact is that if there are six or more you can have the taster menu.

Found this place by chance on a day trip stop off. Party of 4, we had a burger each with fries and coleslaw, and it was scrumptious. Proper, freshly cooked food made from natural ingredients. We enjoyed very much. Found the staff to be attentive and accommodating. Would highly recommend, shame we couldn't have stayed longer!!

The food and atmosphere here is first class. The menu is varied and exciting and its always busy which is a good sign. My friends mobility is a bit lacking and the toilets are not the most accessible up the spiral staircase.

Stopped at the Shabby Scholar for breakfast on our John O'Groats to Lands End cycle ride. It had been pouring with rain and we were cold and miserable. The guys gave us the warmest of welcomes, brought us blankets and fed us the best breakfast any of us have ever had. Couldn't recommend it more. Awesome little cafe.

We had vouchers for here for over a year, couldn't really make it as the missus was being treated for the big C. However they honoured us the voucher and we came when she was on the mend.

Lovely food, great atmosphere .

Thank you

Absolutely one of the best places in Carlisle for freshly cooked food. Even the chicken nuggets were made from scratch the children loved their meals. Excellent value for money and the service was quick. Very efficient. Definitely 5 stars.
