Shopping at Laurel Mercantile Co. was beyond pleasant. The warm friendly atmosphere and the lovely heirloom and vintage inspired products evoke a sense of calm and nostalgia that reminded me of child-hood shopping excursions in this same downtown area. The owners and employees are happy to tell you a story about the treasures they have found and have for sale in their beautifully renovated store. Laurel Mercantile is a gem and if you're really lucky there may be a couple of babies crawling around.

While a nice young couple, the Napier s are a shallow version of Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper fame on HGTV. They have trolled the Gaines in their Magnolia Home store concept in creating Laurel Mercantile. This is a nothing store with one small bottom floor with very limited merchandise and the most overpriced items you can imagine which are probably among the highest in the State. It was a couple minutes off the highway so it was no major inconvenience to check it out. Warning- This is NOT a destination place!! Instead, the Lucky Rabbit in Hattiesburg is an incredible shopping experience and well worth a trip.

I gotta be honest here, LMCo. seemed awfully tourist trappy. An overpriced souvenir shop for starstruck Hometown fans where Ben and Erin are trying to squeeze out every nickel of profit they possibly can before their show gets cancelled and they are back to being just plain old contractors and redecorators, without that TV star twinkle.
To be fair, all the handmade items looked to be very well made and good quality, so if that's your thing, then knock yourself out. But there's plenty of artisans who are actually trying to survive off of their work without having to share their (often slim) profits with the stars of a hit TV show. So if you see something you like that isn't specifically/commercially connected to the show, please consider buying directly from the maker and let them reap more from their own harvest. Or not. It's still a free country!

This was a destination my wife wanted to see. There were numerous unique items for sale and she settled on a branded coffee mug and an Adam Trist floral pillow. Sales people were very friendly.

Love this place! MUCH better than the Magnolia deal in Waco. Laurel is a true small town, and even in their Mercantile, they don't price you out the door. Reasonable prices on great items. I want two of those rocking chairs! I want to move there!

We need heroes in our country. I used to write speeches in Washington D.C during the turmoil of the. Late 60's and was inspired by leaders like John Kennedy and I wanted to make an overt difference when I was a very young person.

I have been watching home town and the incredible restorative genius of Erin and Ben Napier on HG TV. They not only transform the homes but the lives of their new owners ! I saw Erin's beautiful art and I ordered one of her paintings from the mercantile. It arrived and is fantastic!!!!!

We ve met Ben and Erin a few times and they are so nice! My dad bought gifts for us for Christmas from their store and mine was a beautiful handmade Christmas ornament, I wanted Ben to sign it. On one of our trips home to MS we stopped by to get it signed. Ben was literally walking out the door to catch a flight to Chicago for business but he still took the time to speak to us and sign the ornament. It let me know how much he cares about people. I gave him a big hug, he s really as time as he looks like on the show!
Both of their stores are an eclectic variety of items that are old south and remind me of my childhood growing up in Laurel and Jones county. Beautiful old paintings by various MS artist, beautiful pottery, an amazing collection of old maps, signs and prints, and many other items that really mean something to us Southern folks. Their candles are beyond amazing, there are many wonderful southern scents, they are a must have! As someone who was born and raised in Laurel, I really appreciate what they ve done to restore our beautiful little town. Definitely stop by both stores when visiting!

Unexpected. Cool, I guess? Not sure about my thoughts. Lots of random junk honestly. They had a whole tub of mix matching silverware, I didnt realize people were interested in things as such

The staff was wonderful. The lady gave us a map and even took the time to write on it the major places to check out nearby. The shop was very nice but the prices were too high. Now what is high to one person is not so high for another...so I will share some examples. We collect coffee cups from different places, and we see high as $14.95, but do-able. They wanted $20. The shirts like Ben wears looked very high quality...but at $98, just too high. Earrings that Erin often wears, $30.

We detoured here on our way to Gulf Shores and I'm so glad we did. The town is neat and the Laurel Mercantile Co. is adorable. Everyone there was very friendly. We were traveling with our two young children and Aunt Mae made sure we felt welcome. Really neat store with a great selection of gifts and everyday items. A great spot to visit!

Very interesting place to visit but the prices were very high. The average person wouldn't bff able to buy many items from this shop, I know I couldn't. Loved how it was presented and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Just disappointed at the high priced merchandise.

Purchased a Scotsman all cotton shirt there. The shirt is the most comfortable cool weather shirt I've ever had. I find I wear it as much as I can.

The people there are wonderful, hospitable and helpful. Their hammers are beautifully made. If I didn't have more hammers than I need I would have bought two!

Can't wait to return. Laurel is a charming city with beautiful buildings and a delightful atmosphere.
