There was must-visiting place in LA
Either immersing in the artist s world or reading and relaxing on the grass!
And the city viewing was amazing!
The rare respite place in the bustling city
Great place, go early in the morning and don't forget to take your own water and food
This place is special, it s serene. If you are looking to relax and take in some special views and amazing art.. come here. This is one of the most beautiful museums in the US. From the stunning architecture of the buildings, to the gardens, to the grand views.. oh and by the way they also have some of the most renowned works of art here too.. very special place. Visit here!
Not only a wonderful museum, but also beautiful architecture and scenic views of the hills and blue skies. Still can't believe admission is free; you only pay to park. The art collection is very good and curated well. A must see!
Fantastic collection of works from the Impressionism era. I really enjoy the view of Los Angeles and always love the classic "I can see my house from here" gimmick that I can pull. Really though; the Getty is in a league all its own, and deserves a day to admire.
Beautiful, relaxing, informative. I definitely want to go back.
Absolutely stunning buildings, views, and art work. Make sure to wear your walking shoes and come with patience for the crowds.
Most beautiful place to visit in LA
Here you will find the essential master pieces of classical arts. Most of them were chosen by the sponsor of this place and are shown to your eyes in a very smart way. As you may not be a specialist, here you will find all the significant paintings and objects, particular enough to bring you the real feeling of any epoch
The Getty is a majestic monolith of all forms of art, not limited to paintings or sculptures, but the architecture and landscaping itself all lends to it's magnificence. It's a haven away from the hustle of the city. The gardens were edenic and the collections impressive.
Huge. Almost impossible to see everything in 1 day. They have tours led at specific times or you can go on your own.Wonderful exhibits. I arrived at 10:30 and I waited in line for 45 min. It cost $20 to park the car, $15 after 3:30 and no charge for entry. Two eating establishments, one called the Cafe.
No reservations, casual dining with separate bays offering different kinds of entrees. Open , casual dining, salads, pizzas, vegetarian, hamburgers, etc.
The main restaurant is elegant, costly and the food is good, I hear. You'll need ressrvations.
Nice art. Free. Loaned us a wheelchair. Outside was closed because it had rained, but it was big enough that we didn't have time to see both inside & out anyway
Incredible... gardens, view, sculpture, art, etc all top notch. Food at cafe was only OK. Architecture of the buildings is magnificent. Go for the art, stay in spite of the food.

Famous collection to show to your kids
If you ever get the chance to come here please do, it's absolutely wonderful.
There is no admission fee, the only fee charged is parking (so remember to bring your ticket in to validate it). I sincerely recommend bringing your own water since the offerings once up the hill are pretty expensive. Speaking of, the trip up is beautiful so try to catch it on a sunny day. The shuttle is air conditioned and plays music (it reminds me of the soundtracks that play when waiting in line for Disneyland rides). For information, there are a TON of different languages available for the pamphlet and audio tour. Reserve all day for this trip, you'll want to see all the exhibits and the gift shop.
Great placw for modern art. Loved the feel and experience of each exhibit.
Gratitude is the best word to describe what I felt while visiting the getting for the second time. It s a blessing to visit a place like this full of life, nature. I m certain that it could be a part of Eden. I m always out of words to explain how beautiful it is.
While in LA don t forget to visit it.
It's free so yeah, it's a must visit place :D The collections are great, and the scenery is beautiful, too. The architectural style is modern. Besides looking at the collections, it's also nice to stroll around the gardens.
Have to pay a couple bucks to park but beyond that the whole place is free, can't get much better than that. And there's a lot of nice things to look at.
Always beautiful! The view of LA there is gorgeous. The art is always inspiring
Free admission, plenty of all-day parking for $15. Food is overpriced and nothing special. Suggest bringing a picnic.
Took my grandchildren there. It's free to get in, but they charge $20.00 to park!!!!
Well organized even on busy Saturday in summer. Tram wait was twenty minutes. Dunhuang cave exhibition has four parts. Get your free timed tickets immediately on arrival. Then see 6 minute 3D film and exhibit next door to it. Be sure to plan to eat when cafe is open. It closes early. Food is bland but plentiful.
Great museum in West LA with changing exhibits. Not only is the collection of art great, but the outdoor gardens are beautiful and offer spectacular views too!
Went here a couple years ago on a school trip. Very beautiful place. Does anyone know when it opens?
Went on a Sunday on a holiday weekend, and I was surprised that the most crowded/annoying part of the experience was parking ($15 flat rate after the first hour). Even the parking situation wasn t that bad as the museum staff does a good job directing traffic.
We walked up to the museum grounds from the parking garage which took about 15 minutes. The other option is a free tram. Long lines for the tram didn t actually mean a long wait. The people who arrived with us and chose the line instead of walking actually arrived at the museum entrance just before we did.
Once you re at the museum (entrance is free), there are a few different buildings with the typical museum art, artifacts, and rotating exhibits you ll find at most museums. (I m not a big fan of museums in general.)
My favorite part of the visit was absolutely the views of LA and well-groomed grounds surrounding the museums. I didn t try the food.
I d totally recommend going here for a quality experience. I didn t give it 5 stars because I don t think it s a place I would want to revisit often. It s gorgeous, but it s not super unique.
This is a great place to visit. It's an unforgettable experience.
Getty is a must go destination for LA! This is one of the best experiences I have to an art center. The artworks when combine with the gorgeous LA view and the architecture itself just brings out something so unique.
Note: You have to pay $15 for parking (this covers parking to the Villa as well) and rest is free. Also you can get tickets to Getty Villa at the helpdesk. If you have time go to both Getty Center and Villa make sure to go to Center first, I'd highly recommend to go to both.
(1) It's free, can't beat that. (2) The art is nice, I guess - I'm not really qualified to comment on it, but there were a number of names I recognized, so that must mean it's a solid collection. (3) Even if you aren't into art, there are amazing views of the city, and the building itself is an architectural wonder. This place is worth it to kill a couple hours, at the very least.
High above the LA hil s is a spectacular museum that should be seen and experienced. The gardens are beautiful as is the art work.
Beautiful place! Very good art collection. You may spend all day.
Awesome! The tour guides were amazing as well. They were very knowledgeable and helpful.
People typically stay 3 hours? Thats all?? More like 6-7.
Not really much you can say about the Getty that hasn't already been said. The place is amazing and beautiful. The views are breathtaking. And the works of art are always a pleasure to admire. The garden is the most beautiful place that you can go to at the Getty. Make sure to pack a lunch or go to one of the places to eat and find a place on the lawn. You won't regret it. I've been coming here for years and it's always a pleasurable experience.
Very interesting and beautiful. The people there are nice and are helpful. The exhibits are amazing.
The Gerry is certainly an attraction every art lover should put on their bucket list. They have Lilies painted by Van Gogh
If I am ever in the Los Angeles/Malibu area, I will not be visiting this museum. I will also discourage others from visiting and I highly encourage people to stop donating! This past week a friend of mine was a victim of cyberbullying. The bully was none other than an employee of the Getty Museum. I will not name names, but this employee tagged my friend in a group she was not aware she was a member of. The Getty employee and a group of her friends started to personally attack my friend by calling her a "redneck American"; telling her that she comes from "trash and low social class" and then stated that "All Americans have a low IQ"; "Chicago is a ghetto sh*thole" and then called my friend a "dumb Polock." This employee also falsely reported my friend's accounts to Facebook once Getty Employee found out that we were going to file a complaint against her. My friend's account is now suspended for 30 days. If the Getty wants to employ snobby, pretentious Europeans who despise Americans, (Americans who are the bulk of their clientale and visitors), then be my guest, but don't expect us to put up with your hate speech and bullying and not experience consequences from your representative's actions. Its great knowing what the Getty really thinks of us Midwesterners. We have better museums in Chicago anyway, and their employees don't harass and bully people on Facebook.
Beautiful art, beautiful buildings, staff are helpful and very nice, very nice overall
Nice museum, architecture, surroundings and a view definitely can compete with collection
Spent a better half of a day here. There are many guided tours. The architectural tour gave a very good history of the place. What's amazing to me is that admission and all tours are free. With the money saved, we treated ourselves to the beautiful restaurant for a very good lunch.
love the walk through room fulls of art...and the views are beautiful
Beautiful art and collections. Grounds are superb and food is delicious .
A very nice outing. Free entry is a plus.
Nice museum but need a full day. Good Panaromix view of LA citu
One of the best place to visit in LA area! View is just perfect and their exhibits are amazing! Strongly recommended!!!
A must for out of town guests. Such a beautiful place. And it's free. You only have to pay for parking. Awesome place.
Standing next to art that is centuries old is fantastic!
One of America's gems. It's nice to spend several hours here when time allows on trips to LA. Take the time to do one of the many free tours offered. Even though I had wondered around for over an hour, taking the Collection Highlights Tour showed me art and museum sites I would not have found on my own.
Richard Meier's buildings are amazing.
Amazing place if you love art. Family friendly. It's free you only have to pay $15 for parking, then take the internal train or walk.
Food is great, prices go from $9 to $20 approximately. Make sure to take your camera for panoramic pictures. #art #photography
Wonderful day. Beautiful works of art, architecture and gardens are delightful.
Really amazing spot to visit if you love city lights, architecture, and vibrant sunsets.
Awesome place to look at the Artifacts and paintings
Amazing free admission for both places , even one parking for two. The center is more business like but a lot of great arts , amazing
All my life living in LA i hardly go to the Getty. Freaking beautiful place. I recommended going if you're in LA. Take the bus so you don't have to worry about traffic or parking
This is a beautiful place. Trust me. You wont regret it
such a wealth of knowledge and resources to stimulate your mind every time
Live shows occasionally! And the exhibits are pretty good, a very nice collection.
You need to go here. Plan on spending the entire day. Even with 8+ hrs, you probably won't be able to see every gallery and the gardens. So, get a free audio guide, pick your favorites, take your time. Stop to take in the gardens, sit down for a fabulous lunch with a glass of wine, and savor every moment. This is an incredible, world-class museum, with some of the most wonderful of humanity's creations.
Beautiful grounds and art, nice way to spend an afternoon!
Outstanding museum. Free parking for military and retirees if you have your parking stub validated
Love the place but don't like the attitude of some people who works there. Few years ago, a rude elder lady who was handing brochures used a very degrading term(towards Chinese in mandarin ) when I was politely asking for direction in English. I didn't understand at time but later figured out what that was. Ruined my whole experience.
Beautiful museum for all ages. Gardens and the cafe food is super tasty!
One of my favorite places to hang out. Good art and great architecture thanks to Richard Meier, love the variety of plants in the garden area.
A truly amazing experience, the Getty is an island in the middle of LA, accessible by car but also separate from the highways of the city. You'll understand when you get there. With plenty of top-notch galleries, the Getty is also a fascinating park where one can wander around simply looking at the plants, sculptures, and buildings.
