Everytime I come here it is a spiritual event. The whole experience stimulates all six senses. From the tram ride up the mountain, the the acropoliptic views, the breathtaking architecture, the maturing garden, the art,the free entrance ($15 parking per car), the international cafeteria, the fine dining restaurant. It makes me proud to say I live in Los angeles.
And all my visitors agree!

I work here. Beautiful work site. Public facing, the galleries, architecture, and places you can meander is just beautiful. Parking is $15 ($10 if you come after 4p). If you take the bus or Uber, and bring your own lunch, it becomes a very inexpensive museum visit. The main Cafe is overpriced, but you can find some affordable items and you alternatively have coffee carts that have coffee & drinks. If you're short on time, always visit the rotating special exhibit in the West Pavilion (second floor). The rest of the galleries don't change as often.

Their parking lot ruined the whole experience. We waited in line for 45 minutes just to get in the parking lot. There were no signs or anything telling people the lot was full. Instead, they allow people to become trapped in the driveway hoping for people to leave.
By the time we got to the ticket gate it was 3:01. Parking is $5 less after 3pm. But their clock was set 5 minutes behind. The parking attendant kept yelling at us to move and flashing his light at us. We asked him to come over. He said "NO" at first then after another minute he came lecturing us about how he knows what we're trying to do as if WE were trying to rob THEM. He said all our phones were wrong, and there was 8 of us in the car. We had to drive out then back in to save those $5. That took another 10 minutes.
When we got in the parking lot, the signs displayed 165 free spaces. Nobody was leaving. There were no spaces. We were just in another trap. We turned around and left arguing and in horrible spirits.
Never again!!!

Confusion in the ticketing or whether it was the Getty Center or the Getty Villa for a lecture that we were going to see spent hours on the freeway but if you truly love the subject and I guess it would be worth it wasn't for me.

Amazing both inside and out!! One of LA's real treasures with wonderful artwork whether it's the regular exhibits or a special event. The museum itself is architecturally stunning and complemented by the amazing gardens and spectacular views.

This museum is a treat with great visiting exhibitions alongside the permanent collections. The views are stunning, especially on the top floor promontory. Don't forget to stroll in the garden.

This is one of my favorite museums I've ever visited. They change the displays in the galleries often. The courtyard with the fountains and reflecting ponds are very peaceful and relaxing. The Garden area with the water running through the entire walk is my favorite part of the property they also have three great places to eat

The Getty center is an amazing preservation of J. Paul Getty, and his love of the arts. I deeply love the efforts made to make the story of the world come to life by displaying its characters. I would suggest this museum time and time again, it doesn t get much better then this.

It deserves routine visits to make the most of what it offers. There is a reservoir of knowledge and information to ponder upon. The location is so strategic and scenic that watching LA from this top of the mountain is mesmerizing in itself. It gets really crowded on weekends and holidays. The parking gets full easily and then people start to park roadside and it can go up to a mile or so. So while arriving here in Uber is doable, expecting Uber to reach Getty in evening or late night would be impossible. One can also reach here through hiking trails. One of the hiking trail from Hollywood sign goes all the way to Getty museum. That's my preferred approach. They take the oldest (century old) telescopes out late in evenings so the audience can experience such telescopes and view some stars, planets. The line only gets long, so make sense to get in queue as soon as possible. They also run various shows on different topics during the day. It would be difficult to process all of them in one visit, hence I said in the beginning, this place deserves routine visits. :)

A Los Angeles gem, a must see place for visitors and residents alike. Best times to visit: afternoons so you cab see the exhibits and make it outside just in time for the glorious sunsets. Summertime is great too with free outdoor concerts.

Beautiful buildings in a stunning location. The collection is diverse and includes some treasures. The Manet exhibition was comprehensive and the narrative was particularly well done. It is a bargain (admission is free; parking is only $20). A must see.

Jaw-dropping vistas, scenic gardens and beautiful art for FREE. Couldn't ask for more. You do pay for parking if you bring a vehicle and require parking but you can just take a Lyft and get dropped off for a free museum visit. I never get tired of this place.

The museum's free, but the catch is the 25$ you'll have to spend for parking. The villa itself is fabulous, perched on the hill opposite Bel Air. It's enourmous, which makes you wonder how was the space utilized when it wasn't a museum. There's a lot of good paintings, especially from europe.

My friend who is California native took me here to show me her favorite museum ever. The tram took us through the hill with beautiful view of the nearby neighborhood. When we arrived at the museum, I was impressed by well all buildings were designed. It was one of those days when SoCal rained like it has never been rained. So I didn't get to see much. I spend lot of times at the ancient paintings. I was sad that I couldn't see the garden, it was closed due to slip risk. The trip was short, I will come back next time to spend more time there.

This place is, and always has been, an amazing museum. Although free, the parking costs $15, so either you pay to get right up to the entrance or you park a good 20+ minutes (walking distance) and hoof it to the entrance. Not a terrible option, but the parking does help contribute to the museum and you probably don't want to be walking a bunch before you get in since the whole thing is just more walking.

Also, the view of Los Angeles from here is breathtaking. Unfortunately, my picture was taken shortly after the bad fires that ravaged California, so you can see a lot of the smoke hanging over the city, but still an amazing sight.

Anyone visiting Los Angeles should definitely check this place out at least one!

What an awesome place to spend an afternoon. As noted by everyone else, it's free other than the $15.00 parking fee. A short tram from parking takes you up to a different world full of museum galleries, beautiful gardens, and surprisingly awesome food! Check it out - you will certainly not waste your time.

Wonderful museum. In addition to world class collections, their free concert series are not to be missed. They do an especially fine job of bringing top world music that is hard to find otherwise. The garden is remarkable as well.

Loved it here! Very modern and cheery architecture, amazing staff. A tram takes you up to the building where you'll find various art exhibitions and photograph exhibitions. It's free, apart from parking, great to spend a relaxed day away from noise and smog. The grounds are beautiful, you could easily take along food for a picnic and spend a whole day there. Highly recommend.

So beautiful, also free admission to see most of the exhibition, free WiFi and very friendly staff. I had the pleasure of visiting the library for research purposes and it offers an amazing collection of historical books.

The art collection is good, but it's almost overshadowed by the buildings that house it and the spectacular views across Los Angeles. Entry is free, but if you're driving it costs $20 to park for the day. Well worth it though. We just wandered around in our own time, but if you want something more structured various tours run throughout the day, or you can borrow an audio guide. If you get peckish the cafe was really good, but a bit pricey.

If you're in the area, you have to come here. There's a museum will all kinds of art and statues to check out and outside there's a garden that's absolutely beautiful. Walk through it or even eat your lunch on the lawn area. There's pleanty of benches and seating areas as well. There is a terrace with a breathtaking view of most of LA. It's amazing here. Although the site has paid parking, admission is free. So pedestrians are all good and if you have a group it's cool too. If you buy food here it's expensive, so it's highly recommended to bring your own lunch. See this place and enjoy LA!

Went to both the Villa and Museum. Pretty great if you are into art, sculpture and lovely gardens. Give yourself a full day at the museum and a good half day at Villa. COMPLETELY non-smoking facilities. Really cant leave the Villa once your there, but you can leave the museum grounds, although pretty good trek to get off grounds to light up.

Over rated art collection (The Clark Museum in Williamstown, MA shames them) in a very limited time period. The building architecture and location are both OTHERWORLDLY beautiful. That is the highlight of the museum, not the mediocre art.
