Outstanding place to visit for locals and visitors. The art museum permanent collection is quite high quality and its temporary exhibits are well done as well. The museum sits perched on top of a hill overlooking the city and the ocean beyond. One of the must sees places in LA.

The art collection is fantastic - there's a lot to see covering different periods and geographies. Also, as far as I could tell, there are temporary exhibitions and activities that will deserve going there even if it's not your first visit. I highly recommend taking the guided tours. Considering that all of this is open to the public at no entrance fee (you have to pay parking if you go by car) it's a no-brainer, as well as time well spent.

One of the most impressive education fascility. I loved it that I visited for days. Modern and medieval art, green and magenta favored garden with water, great view of Los Angeles, and super good cafeteria.
I love medieval Dutch art as well as modern art, it was fantastic visit. Felt like a Disneyland for me.
Building is another catch. Every way you see or look it back, it has different scheme sometimes blending to California's blue sky, other with green, highway otherwise. Plenty of reason staying here for a day even with kids. Be there.

The map sold at kiosk is very good too.

The Getty is a world class museum, that offers phenomenal traveling exhibitions along with the permanent exhibition. With four seperate buildings to house the french art of the 18th and 19th century. A collection that rivals the Louvre in France. The early American art is equally prestigious, presented with roman decor, Italian and it is all free to the public. Parking is the only expense, twenty dollars per a car.

Very interesting museum on a hill. You can get here by public bus and catch a tram to the hill top and spend one day visit. Sculpture garden and impressionism painting should not be missed.

The museum is free, the parking is $15 and can be validated and used at Getty Villa, so you don't need to pay parking twice. The museum collection is good, not great, but the design is excellent. It's not one gigantic dark stuffy building like a typical museum. The wings are small and connected by balconies and gardens.

The best place ever. There, I said it. You get a feeling from coming to this place that isn't available any other place in the world at any other Museum, or anywhere for that matter. Parking is easy and efficient, the tram to the museum is modern and the views are unrivaled, and once you step off the tram into the magic of Getty, you're transported to an extraordinary world. If you haven't seen it, don't deprive yourself any longer just go.

I had never really been to a museum before ever in my life, I originally wanted to come here on my trip to california for the amazing views I saw online. However, I was absolutely blown away by this place, the exhibits and art work in the museum is phenomenal. I was pleasantly surprised with not only the amazing views I came for but also an amazing lesson on history and artwork. You could easily spend an entire day here if you are an art & history buff. The museum is huge with many different buildings and places and things to see. The staff are very polite and helpful. This place completely opened me up to history & the timeline of life that I didn't really pay to much attention too in school as a kid! A MUST see when traveling to California!

I love this museum! The gardens are beautiful, and the Impressionist building is a definite favorite. I have visited this museum several times, and there is always so much to see and experience! Definitely recommend!

Of course it's pretty fab and it's very nice that every aspect of it, including special exhibitions, is free. The interiors are all great and concentrate one's attention on the great art but I'm not completely sold on the external look of the buildings, which is very 80s, not a great architectural period in my view.
The gardens exceeded expectations, so many exciting plants and trees and a great overall design.

Amazing that this place has free admission. (Aside from parking) You can definitely spend hours here in this multi building complex. Lots to see and rotating exhibits. Stop by if you are visiting LA.

This place is beautiful! The guides were very helpful, very educational & they answered our groups questions with patience & kindness. We had a group of 20 kids & 4 adults. There were several places to grab a quick regular coffee, water,or even a bag of chips. Copious amounts of beautiful art, paintings on canvas, sculptures, 100+year old artifacts and so much more. Beautiful grounds and plenty to explore. Even the tram ride up was fun we will most definitely be returning we all absolutely loved this beautiful place & I highly recommend everyone check this place out!

The Getty Art Museum is an art piece itself. If you are planning a visit do not short change yourself with time. The grounds are magnificent. There are breathtaking views everywhere. And the architecture has as many ways to view it as do the art pieces themselves. Even a whole day there will leave you wanting more. Parking is $20 in the structure at the bottom of the hill the Getty sits on. From there you can walk an easy mile up or catch a free tram to the top. They run all day. Getty generously shared his collection with the public after his death. We are so much richer for his generosity. Be sure and stay for the sunset at the end of the day.

I can't believe it's a free. The outer view is so beautiful, the sunset and the night view are especially beautiful. Also, there are so many exhibits and there level is high. It's too big to see all at once. It is a place I want to go often.

The garden in the museum was the best and the subway experience. Its a must to visit this place. You will like their garden and also their wide museum. This a very educational place with a relaxing view. They have a restaurant too that has a nice view. Such an awesome place. Need to go back to see it again.

We visit whenever we can. Out-of-town guests are a perfect excuse. Multiple rotating exhibits complement the permanent installations. Impossible to enjoy in a single visit anyway.

Parking is now $20 ($15 after 3pm). No admission charge.

The incredible collections, the location with these beautiful views, the gardens, the architecture, the helpful staff--all of these make it my favorite place to visit when we come to LA. Try to be there at sunset because when the sun hits the building it's so gorgeous. You pay to park but otherwise it's free.

Amazing place to go on a rainy or sunny day! Fantastic works of art - both permanent collections and traveling exhibitions. The gardens are a sight to behold, and during the summer they have live music in their museum center. To top it all off, the museum is completely free!
