Going to the Getty is always a good decision. Parking is meh, but the rest of the experience is well worth the hassle. Their summer concert program is amazing and free. Their lunch options are great. Just go there!

I visited J. Paul Getty Museum on June 9, 2017 (Friday). Overall, this is an excellent museum with beautiful environment. However, I have to talk about two employees about their bad manners.
After we parked our car (it was around 6:00 pm), a male employee used the commanding voice said to us very rudely: Put your bag here!!! I didn t know what he was going to do, but I still did what he said and put the bag on the table.
Again he said to me rudely, raised his voice, and pointed to the spot right in front of him: Put your bag HERE!!!!! I was scared. How could he speak to me like this? The way he talked to me was like talking to prisoners. I moved my bag right in front of him.
He shouted to me rudely and stared at me: Open your bag!!! I was really scared. I opened my bag. He checked very pockets of my bag, and let us go.
This male employee is short and around fifty years old, fair skin, round face, wearing glasses, extremely short black hair, and with orange and yellow safety vest. He is horrible and seriously lack of courtesy and training.
We took the tram and went to the North Pavillion. I saw the sculpture of Venus and Cupid (Please see the attachment). I said to my husband: The original sculpture of Greek and Roman fairytale about Venus and Cupid in Roman is not this one. My husband asked the female employee standing in that exhibition room: Is that true?
The female employee suddenly burst into anger. She said to my husband: Don t believe her!!! She said is not true!!!
The female employee said to me angrily: This sculpture is really!!! You!!! Stand here!!! She pointed to the front of the sculpture.
I moved to the front of the sculpture. She pointed to the description of the sculpture and said to me angrily and anxiously: This was created in 1550. It is really!!!
She was so emotional and easy to burst into anger. I was scared by the way she talked to me and felt it was hard to discuss with her. It is okay for people to have different opinions and discuss about difference, but please don t put the angry emotion to the visitors to this museum.
We walked away quietly from the North Pavillion. I was really surprised about and scared by this female employee s anxious and unstable mood.
The female employee is Latino American and about 50 years old, shoulder length black hair, black eyes and eyebrows, fair skin (maybe a little dark), and wearing black suit, no glasses.

We go to a lot of museums. Getty Center was one of the least enjoyable ever. Staff at info desk did not even know where featured exhibit was. Terrible signage. Difficult to engage with the art. Old fashioned display of masterpieces one was assumed to enjoy with little explanation. Building off-putting despite magnificence. Garden closed due to mild rain gardens can be best then. Restaurant and view superb. Would not be good for most kids. Recommend timing visit (including parking and tram ride) for highlights tour 1.5 hour and garden. Is it and then move on. By way of contrast the Broad is fun and super user friendly.

A truly enriching experience. We loved it. I didn't know if I'd enjoy it or not but there is so much to see, that I believe there's probably something for almost everyone. Warning: not great for kids. Of the few kids we saw they seemed to entrenched in phones, not really interested in what was around them.

Cool

Stunning architecture, diverse art, inspiring views of LA, beautiful gardens, and a friendly and helpful staff. What an incredible cultural resource for the city of LA. Very thankful to have experienced this!

How can you not love the Getty? The art is amazing and the views of the city are incredible. Plus, it's free admission! It only costs $15.00 for parking and that's it. You can't beat that! My husband and I go every couple months for a fun, cheap date day.

Nice art collection. They seem to have a little bit of everything, sculptures, ancient pieces, paintings, furniture, really old books and of course pictures. The Getty had the largest collection of pictures in the world if I'm not mistaken. Of course the Getty is known for its architecture and the garden's. Be prepared to spend some time here, there is a lot to see.

We always have fun at the Getty, esp during their August family concerts. I have brought my daughter every year since she s been born and we have the best time. The music is always so good and kid-friendly! Even this last time when she hurled in the tram line, we still had fun wandering around the grounds. We could not be luckier than to have this amazing resource in or backyard.

This is one of the most beautiful museums in the world. Combining the indoor art with the art in nature is inspiring. Saw famous work as well as new art. The gardens are lovely and the architecture is breathtaking.

From religions to cultures, we are fascinated with the history behind paintings, sculptures, tapestries, scientific instruments, furniture, artists, artifacts and exhibits as told through the curators and historians. We can stay here the whole day and not learn everything that they have on display. Their outside fountains, statues and gardens atop a knoll overlooking Los Angeles is just stunning! All you pay is $15 for parking and the rest is free including the iPod they loan you to hear about each of the exhibits. They have a restaurant and cafe which is expensive so bring extra money or snacks. We did both and loved it! This is our fifth time here in six years and it never gets old. Along with Marie Antoinette exhibit, we saw the Egyptian and ancient texts exhibits from the Bible, Qur'an and Torah... Just do it!

I was going to the Getty Center with my friend and our staff person. We walked in and the staff working there were nice and friendly. When I walked into the bathroom and it was clean inside the men's bathroom.

Very interesting museum, gorgeous views of LA, you only pay for the parking lot. The only issue is that you can get lost very easily to find the entrance and you have to get there early to find a nice parking spot.

I absolutely love everything about this museum. Make sure you give yourself time enough to see the vast and diverse collection of art. It is amazing. Also make time to walk the grounds and take in the incredible architecture and landscaping each impressive. A must do on your next trip to Los Angeles!

Stunning location. Architecture by Richard Meier outstanding. Galleries are well designed and there is always a variety of exhibits.
They are especially considerate of handicapped visitors.
Cafe food is good and well priced with a large selection.

This museum has a limited selection of contemporary art, so keep that in mind based on your preferences. There is currently a weekly ancient Egyptian perfume making booth where you can create and bring home your own perfume, and looks great for both kids and adults. The buildings themselves and beautiful and the botanical area was spectacular, and my favorite part of my visit.

It's a great idea, modern look and the architecture is really nice. However, they could focus more on art. Facilities are amazing, there is a train and a van to take to take you to the museum, parking available as well

Incredible museum. I ve been coming here since 92 and I am always impressed with their manuscripts and rotating installments. We were too early during our visit, but we re expecting Michelangelo in February 2020.
