Had a wonderful time. Planned to try to visit both "The Getty" and the Getty Villa, but we learned that more than one day is needed for just one of them. I'm grateful and amazed that Mr Getty would be so generous with the public in life and in death as to share this with us. Parking was not as bad as suggested. The tram ride was good. Courteousy among the visitors was both necessary and present driving both in and out.

World class museum in a world class setting
The Getty is the proverbial shining city on a hill, a white Travertine marble clad series of buildings high atop the hills of Los Angeles with views of the Pacific Ocean, Los Angeles, and Beverly Hills as a backdrop. But the star here is the collection of thousands of paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, furniture, artifacts, decorative manuscripts, books, and countless other items. The spectacular gardens alone will take your breath away, enjoying the waterfall meandering through the variety of exotic plants and flowers as it works its way down to the floating garden of azaleas.
Of course no one will visit the Getty without seeing Van Gogh's "Irises" painting, which the Getty purchased for approximately $117 million in 1990. In that gallery you'll also find other exceptional Impressionistic works by Monet, Renoir, Manet, Cezanne, and others.
Give yourself at least half a day to enjoy the Getty. A full day would be preferable. There are multiple restaurant choices here, and lots of places to sit outside and enjoy the setting.

Simply phenomenal. Few museums have an art collection, architecture, and garden that can rival this world class institution. In a world where greed (i.e. high admission fees) increasingly "trumps" education, the Getty shows how to do it right. If you like plants, be sure to take the garden tour. It will change how you look at landscapes and open your mind to the colors, forms, textures, scents, and sounds that create them. Having recently visited NYC and many of the great museums there (the MET, MoMA, American Museum of Natural History, the Frick Collection, 9/11 Memorial, etc.) Angelenos should be very proud of this wonderful institution, as well as the Discovery Science Center and LACMA. I would like to give congratulations to the Getty Trust and to all the wonderful volunteers that make this place possible. Thank you!

One of the real treasure in L.A. for the whole humanity. Where art, engineering, architecture and beauty meets together. I highly recommend to visit it, and get ready to spend almost the whole day there.
P.S. Thank you so much, the Getty Association, for giving the world this opportunity to enjoy that magic moment of living with that beautiful artifacts.

Come there for Robert Mapplethorpe Exhibition a couple of years ago. Famous for the Irises by Vincent Van Gogh. Even if you are not a art fan, the marble building and breathtakingly panoramic view of the Sunset Bv and downtown LA are worthy for a trip.

One of the main "can't miss" attractions of Los Angeles. I'm not even a big fan of museums, and I would tell anyone, museum fan or not, to make visiting The Getty a priority. It has spectacular views of the city and ocean, impressive gardens, bold, sweeping architecture, and some incredible paintings. One painting is about 6 by 8 feet, with amazing realism. There are also extensive antique collections, such as furniture, tools and machinery that weren't that exciting to me, but they give you a sense of how people lived centuries ago. A good time for all ages. Parking is now $20, followed by a short wait in line and a free train ride up to the museum complex. There is no further admission charge. Admission to the museum complex and grounds is technically free, so I think you possibly bypass the parking charge by taking public transit or Uber/Lyft. But even if you pay 20 buck you won't feel at all cheated. Oh, there's also a large, modern restaurant on the premises, slightly pricey as I recall, and as one would expect in such a prime location.

Absolutely a beautiful view from multiple directions. Garden is phenomenal. Exhibits are great! Security is friendly. But what they don't tell you, don't get too close to artwork and point.

If you like amazing architecture, stunning views of Los Angeles, great art and sculptures, perfect gardens and some great displays The Getty Center is for you.

The experience starts with the electric tram ride from the car park to the center itself, and then your jaw drops from there and stays there until you leave.

Definitely do not recommend going in mid day as we waited for one hour to get in for parking.

A definite must see while in LA with collection comparable to any major European museums and better maintained some how.

It pains me to give a wonderful museum such as the Getty 4 stars but this is based solely on the fact that a lot of parts were closed and the Egyptian exhibit was good at best. (children's museum had a spectacular Egyptian exhibit) nothing really hit it out of the park for me. The photography/fashion exhibit was wonderful with some fantastic pieces. If they only had the photography exhibit I probably would have given it a 5, but the emphasis on Egypt was what got me hyped then let down. Splendid architecture, grounds, and overall experience of solely The Getty. Very surprised at the quality of food, snacks, etc. (another 5 point)

The Getty is breathtaking every time with their beautifully manicured lawns and thoughtfully curated exhibits. I love the fact that the museum is always free (just pay for parking) and the cafeteria food is delicious. Recently, my company had a holiday outing there with a scavenger hunt hosted by Watson Adventurers. It was a lot of fun and a new way to experience the museum, although we probably frightened many of the security guards from getting too close to the artwork while searching for clues.

The security or helper, whatever they are at this museum where very rude? Thought this museum was going to be fun but the rudest person was the security guard who was a lady in the modern poloroid picture gallery. Being extremely rude and inpatient. So learn customer srvc.

It is a good place to meet art... paintings, sculpture, and photagraphy. It is a beautiful view of LA outdoors. The gardens were closed. The tram is fun to ride. The paintings are my favorite part.

Absolutely stunning museum. Definitely requires a full day to experience. Wonderful views of the sea and sky, as well as clean modern architecture. The exhibits themselves are beautiful, and each unique work of art is coupled with a thoughtful explanation and/or background of the artwork. Features works buy Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, and so many other artists. These exhibitions left upon me an impact that stayed with me way beyond my short time at the museum. Will definitely be going again, HIGHLY recommend.

Too good! Could not complete in 4 hours. And they are actually open until 5:30! Do take the "Highlights tour", it is very informative and shows you some must-see exhibits in the museum.

Between the art galleries, gardens, and building Architecture I need to visit again. 2 hours wasn't enough time. Gorgeous views looking towards DT LA and out to the ocean. The London Calling installation was well worth the $10 parking. Otherwise there's no entrance fee.

Beautiful museum with amazing views of West Los Angeles. Worth every minute spent here, not to mention gorgeous garden and landscapes. Would be a good option/date idea to bring someone here. The garden area has plenty of space where you could plan for a picnic, and when it starts to get a little warm, head inside the A.C. where the exhibits are located. Only cost would be parking with is $15.

I visited for the Book of Beasts special exhibition, and I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot! The illuminated manuscripts were beautiful and stunningly detailed, including one third of the world's surviving bestiaries! I was fascinated by the other artifacts as well, including an authentic "unicorn horn" and a "griffin claw!" As a medievalist and a fantasy writer, I appreciated the care and attention the Getty took to presenting an exhibition of the finest quality. I can't wait to see what they'll do next!

Breath taking views and artwork, beautiful facility, kind and helpful staff. I really enjoyed my visit and how it could be both a peaceful experience for adults, and a fun location for families (tranquility and small children often don't mix). I'd love to return the next time I'm in the area.

A lot of arts and crafts there. What you need to pay is just $20 for parking. Extremely fantastic service and everything. You can get a free electronic visiting guide at the information desk.

One of the most beautiful art museums I've ever visited. Art is an important part of our culture and history, but the views shown at this space show off some of the best of the Los Angeles skyline. Make sure to walk outside the grounds as much as you walk around inside. Explore the gallery and views.

The admission is free and the tram ride in is as exciting as the visit. I've never eaten food inside their food court but the space is used for great benefits and concerts. You HAVE to check out the Getty Center.
