Wow i mean wow this place is so beautiful and huge i really mean its huge, its free to go in so take the class, take your kids, take your neighbors or take the whole family. They only charge for parking, there is a tram that takes you up the hill to the museum and its free for the ride. This spot is a must stop in la for locals, tourist, or to get inspired. I will be coming again very soon. Thank you Getty!!!!

What an awesome place. Worth the afternoon - enjoy the outdoor sculpture park and gardens and then spend time enjoying the art and the views inside. Worth a trip if you have a few days in LA

Went twice with my family and absolutely loved it. However, I did not appreciate being told what I was and was not interested in by the woman handing out the audio guides. You might be a retired middle school teacher, but not all teenagers are unappreciative of the culture surrounding them and lack an interest in history, architecture and art. Please do not let this hinder anyone from visiting the Getty though, as it is a wonderful place to go and there is something for everyone (even teenagers).

Great view, great architecture(handicapped-unfriendly tho), and excellent educational program and exhibitions. However frankly speaking, the collection is weaker and not as great as the museums in New York, but I suppose it's already the best in LA?
The only thing I don't like is that they have too tight rules, e.g., no photos at some exhibitions(it's acceptable, but i didn't know that until some staff told me not to do so! I double checked afterwards and there is NO SIGN saying no photos! Taking photos is generally allowed here, so how can we know in which exhibition we can't take photos?!), no phone calls, no standing too close to the arts, no pointing at the arts too close (sometimes I just want to discuss some parts of the painting with my friends and I point at it with still a few inches ahead, and I get warned by the staff, which wouldn't happen in any other museum I visited across the world)...
Be aware, it could be crowded, especially on weekends, so I suggest you go early if you want to fully enjoy your trip.

If you are in LA, even for a couple of days, this is a must-visit. For just the price of parking, you get a world-class experience in art, architecture and gardens, not to mention the view.

Nice facility. Free admission. Museum was ok but don't expect it to match European museums for art. Some of the collection seemed disconnected but for a private collection you could say it is amazing. Nice view of the city if it is not smoggy.

Beautiful grounds surrounding incredible art collections, both modern and classic. Something for everyone to enjoy, even if they come only for the gardens and view of the city, ocean, and beyond! I've been here twice now, having a positively memorable yet different experience each time. Highly recommend to anyone visiting LA - might actually be one of the best parts of the city...!!

Absolutely love it. Prepare yourself to be mesmerized by the architecture, the collections and people. We joined museum collection highlights tour which is very informative. Admission is free. That's a great and very generous gift to general public and art lovers.

What a gorgeous place to explore! They have an amazing art collection, but an almost equal draw is the setting itself, with 360 degree views of LA and breathtaking architecture. And admission is free (besides $15 parking), making it a fantastic place to go enjoy a picnic lunch.

I had a very great experience for the first time. There was one issue with one of the security guards, the lady had let my family in for the last ten minutes. We were only in there for about two minutes and the security guard walks up to us and tells us we need to leave now. As we were walking out there was other families in there and he didnt say anything to them and he walk us out. I felt stereotyped for what I was wearing because of my beliefs. There was all types of people of race there and I was the only one to feel this way.

No entrance fee. Parking is $15 for the day. All buildings are air conditioned. Many exhibits to see. They also have a reference library. Had lunch in the cafe. Beautiful views. Nice enjoyable day for everyone.

Astonishing!

Astonishing!

Let me preface by mentioning I am not an avid museum-goer. However, this is one of the select few In the world that simply captivated me (up there with the Louvre!). Words cannot do this place justice. The views from the compound are breathtaking, the architecture, gardens and landscape are unbelievable. And the exhibits are excellent! I visit Cali at least 2-3 times per year and the Getty is a MUST VISIT at least once a year.

There s a reason folks from all over the world come to see this facility. Next time you are in the LA area, do not sell yourself short

Beautiful place

Beautiful place
If you want to go to a museum? come to the Getty
If you want to see scenic views of Los Angeles? come to the Getty
If you want to see some beautiful modern architecture? come to the Getty
If you want to picnic in beautiful gardens? come to the Getty

The point is the Getty is beautiful and expansive, it has a lot of things to see and do, and it requires multiple visits to really focus on one thing at a time. My personal favorites include it's collection of illuminated manuscripts, the central garden with the bougainvillea trees, and the views. You cannot beat those views.

Cam on a school trip and the staff was so nice. Our guide was the sweetest DEFINITELY coming back soon, but be prepared to pay 20 dollars for your meal (if you dont bring your own food).

This place was absolutely stunning, I've never seen a museum quite as gorgeous or well architecture as this! The parking is a bit killer due to high cost before 6pm, but it's definitely worth it considering you get to see the entire hill top museum with it's amazing views for free. I would recommend for casual visit, art lovers, and a date spot :)

It's a nice place full of amazing arts. The only thing that I don't like so much is that it's hard to find a parking place although there is a parking lot. You have to pay 15 dollars after a free hour.

As you walk up to the main entrance you're welcomed by a stunning entrance that is beautiful to behold. The muesum is broken up into four main pavilions and one for special exhibits.

There are works of art spannjng from the 1600s to art created after the 1800s. The center for photography has an amazing collection of images.

In addition to the beautiful works of art, there are numerous gardens througjt out the grounds.

You will also be captivated by the stunning views.

A must visit in LA. The architecture is stunning, the views are breathtaking and the collection is nicely curated, with amazing exhibitions and great distribution along the complex. Once you get to the entrance, there is a train that takes you to the actual museum. From downtown LA is about an hour ride by bus.

The staffs are really really nice and friendly, the museum structue itself is amazing, itself is one of the best masterpieces it offers and they have many many other wonderful articles inside, if you are a fan of art, please please visit it, you won't regret it, and it's FOR FREE, also the little train ride uphills and downhills is also free!!

This is a fantastic museum - one of the best i have been to - there is a large selection of art (paintings and sculptures) covering thousands of years of history - the exhibitions are widely spread out so it does not feel to busy - and you can properly appreciate the art - there is also a good selection of food together with a cool garden that gives you an awesome 360 view of L.A. - if you are in L.A. this is a must - you'll easily be entertained for 3 - 5 hours - the only downside is that oarking can be a bit difficult (but its cheap - $15).

Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking spot. Everything about The Getty is amazing and every view is picture perfect. The design and architecture is beautiful, the exhibitions are interesting and insightful, everything about The Getty is perfect.

The Central Garden was my favorite part of the location. The fountain and garden was simply the epitome of tranquility. When walking through the garden, you can't help but get Alice in Wonderland vibes!

I will definitely be checking out The Getty Villa next!

Beautiful! At first I was overwhelmed with the size. I thought there is no way I'd be able to see it all in one day, but my friend and I just picked the section we wanted most to see, and then it just kind of flowed from one to the next. Before I knew it we had walked the whole thing. We didn't spend a ton of time at each exhibit, but we got to see them all. The garden was gorgeous. Take your time to really appreciate not only the works of art displayed in the garden, but the artistry of the landscaping as well.

Such a nice place to visit. The gardens are amazing and a good place to just relax. The exhibitions are very interesting. Couple things to take into consideration is the food is not so great. Going earlier rather than later is better to avoid lines at the trolly that takes the guests up to the museum.

If you're in the area, you're doing yourself a disservice by not visiting. Cafe is not cheap, nor amazing, but completely serviceable with something for everyone ranging from Mexican to Asian fusion to standard American fare.

My family visited here four times within one year, and now we saw most of them! Great collection and beautiful architecture with amazing gardens. Always clean even though there were so many visitors, and warm staffs great everywhere. Especially, I love a garden tour.

Bring your walking shoes lots of ground to cover.. And bring your own food they charging an arm and a leg for a samich. Heard rumors that children are housed in an underground city there. I can see that.

Can't beat the view on a clear L.A day from the Getty. Parking was full so we had to park on a random street and take an Uber to the museum. Love that they offered sunbrellas for free. Great place to spend the afternoon.
