It's just a big piece of art on a mountain.
I really wouldn't recommend it to the young ones, due to it being a modern fashion and hang out place for adults.

Bring your walking shoes because there is so much to see. Try and go on a clear day and that will add to the beauty. They check your bags before the shuttle and I didn't ask what they were checking for because next time I would like to bring my own drinks, prices a little steep for water and tea. Parking 20.00 and no charge for museum.

A group of us went... I truly enjoyed all the art History that Mr. Getty left behind for us to admire!!! Blessings to the Getty Family for keeping this going strong!!! This was my first visit with my son (17) he went before when he was in Elementary School, but he doesn't remember... He enjoyed it as well!!!

Wonderful building/complex with a beautiful view.
Art collection is ok. Nothing so spectacular.
Garden is beautiful.
4h was enought.
Providing free audio guides was nice. Good idea.

Great place to browse unique collections overlooking the city! Restaurant menu has wonderful variety and had an excellent view. You get on a tram to get to the mountain and everything is so organized. Coming back home, we did Uber and it was very convenient. On top of all of the neat things you find here, there is NO entrance fee! My daughter and I had a fantastic time here.

Went (again) for the Golden Kingdoms exhibit. Parking is $15 before 3pm, and $10 after. Exhibit is free. Dancers from Mexico, and stunning gold from the first American Empires (pre-columbian). Split a salad and sandwich with my husband so the whole day was about the price of a movie for 2. We came before 3, and left at 8.

This museum has it all- except for good management. What a pity. A glorious setting, wonderful buildings, great collections, and one of the most inept managers I have experienced.
When you park and take the tram up the hill, the folks at the reception don't direct you to the tram, but let you wander around trying to figure out where it is. We did find it, not thanks to the dozens of employees standing around chatting it up. They you arrive at the museum and have to wait in a long line to get your headphone guide to the museum, even though, again, there appear to be lots of idle employees standing around, you guessed it, chatting it up. The one person handing out the headphones seemed to take about 5 minutes per person. Apparently, repetition does not result in efficiency here. Then you discover that the headphones do not work because the contact is bad. Others mentioned the same problem. When this is brought to the attention of the staff, they defensively tell you they check EVERY headphone before it is handed out. Yes, of course.
Then you go the men's room and you find lots of dirt on the door leading out. I guess patrons do not wash their hands, and it is clear none of the hordes of employees standing around, chatting it up, is cleaning the men's room door.
By the way, did I mention that the art collection is spectacular? Yes, it is. But given the Getty's enormous endowment and the hordes of chattering employees, they are doing a poor job of running this gem of a museum.

Waiting unnecessarily for nearly an hour to just make a turn inside. You wouldn t know there was no parking lot before you spent 1 hour waiting in line. We were told to leave right before the parking lot gate. Awful place!!! Worst Museum ever visited!

A must visit in Los Angeles! You can park your car in the garage and then there is a free tram you take that takes you to the top. At the top there are multiple exhibits and galleries, with a stunning view of the city. There's also a cactus garden and larger flower garden with lots of green spaces for people to enjoy. You can also bring picnic lunches and sit on the lawn to enjoy the space. Best part is everything is free

If you find museums stuffy and overdone (as I often do), this might be your place. It's more of a sprawling campus to explore than a singular art museum. You can amble between collections, take in some great architecture, stroll the incredible garden and there's plenty of space to sit and reflect. The views of LA are incredible up here too.

Amazing Paintings, Greek and Roman Sculptures. The beautiful Van Gogh and Auguste Rodin make it one of the most interesting places. Also the entry to the center is free although there is some parking charge. The art lovers can easily spend a whole day here and there is food area in the center as well.

Beautiful place with stunning views. Check the many spots to take photos. It's a must do.

NOTE:the only entrance is in Dr getty street. Check your GPS, It may be guiding you in a wrong way.

A very fine collection of art in every form by a private museum. Very well maintained and displayed. Amazing collections and the free tram ride to the museum that is free. Parking is a bit expensive at 20$. But that's compensated by the artifacts that you get to see. A must see place where you can spend half a day.

Brilliant! Wish I had time for hiking. L VED the cafe- was very impressed!! Can't wait to go back and try other menu items and try out the restaurant. Better food at the cafe than at some stand-alone restaurants. LOVED the diversity of choice. Everything clean, new, well-kept in galleries. Traffic was nightmare-ish though. Great gift shops but less variety than that of the MOMA's.

Most of the museum has these kind of Style. To get into the museum you have to take a train that is in the Getty Park. The parking costs. You can enter with food. There's a place of souvenirs. May be tough for wheelchairs. Beautiful views. Great structure. Worth it. Prices vary depending on the time, it's cheaper after 3 pm, but you may have more company.

Awesome, beautiful location, location, location WARNING: Unless you are wealthy, don't plan on eating there. Food is not "all that", bland, luke warm, and had been sitting for a bit. It's extremely expensive to eat, not worth the money you pay. Employees are not too friendly. Souvenir stores extremely expensive too.

Beautiful views, huge art exhibits, peaceful gardens and stunning architecture. The free admission is nice but the parking was a bit steep. The cafe selection of food was huge and high quality, bit I wish they had more seats. Definitely a great place to bring a date, your family, or to just go by yourself.

The Getty Center has a great collection of artworks - paintings, sculptures, photographs, ceramics, furniture - and you can easily spend a whole day here. There are also tours offered by docents and these are good for people like me who barely know anything about art. And something about the whole ambience is relaxing and nice. I'm definitely going to go there again. Entrance and tours are free. They occasionally have some events which may or may not be free.

The Getty museum and complex is a staple of visitors from around the world and locals alike! There are many pieces of art and paintings that will impress its visitors. Make sure once you plan your trip to the Getty wear comfortable shoes and about 4 hours to get lost in it's beauty. Also, leave your preconception at the parking garage and make your memories.

This is and always has been a great place to visit. If you are looking for date ideas, take your partner here! Go explore one or all of the many galleries. Wander through the garden. Enjoy the view. Come at night, during the day, whatever you like! If you are visiting LA for the first time and you are not staying long, save this spot for your second trip. But, if you are here for a bit, go take the fun tram ride up to the art castle above the city.

The Getty is always worth it, if you go just for the views that's reason enough. The photography collection is second to none in the world so there is usually a good show there, the perminant collection is interesting but not what you come here for.
Tip never go here on a weekday after about three you will want to shoot yourself because of the traffic regardless of how you choose to get there, although if you take the bus you will not have to pay $10 to park.

A wonderful day out. Art lovers will need more than one day to see all the galleries. The garden tour and architecture tour are informative and worth the 45mins. Excellent food at the cafe. A peaceful atmosphere with amazing views of LA.

Everything is beautiful; the location, the architecture, the grounds and of course the art. The tram to the actual museum grounds runs quite often both up and down the hill. Spectacular views of the city from the museum grounds. A great activity for a family with older children.

Superb
