Not a truly art fan but this is a worthy trip for everyone visiting California for sure It s free and has great views. Excellent point to go in a sunny, cool day and lay on the grass. Also there is audioguide in different languages so it was very helpful I d recommend attending early as it gets crowded

Went on a Sunday afternoon. The weather was perfect. The display of art was outstanding. The gardens were a nice unexpected surprise. The views were spectacular.
Getty Museum is an amazing place for people who love painting, sculptures and arts. The collection of historic artifacts is mins blowing. It will take atleast half a day yo tour the place. It is a free museum only thing you pay is parking so if you take Lyft or Uber there is no expense. View of the city is amazing from the museum.
The Getty House Foundation and Museum is a must see for locals and tourists alike. The many views are breathtaking, the museum pieces will open up your eyes to history, and each visit offers a different perspective. Plan a visit if you can. Have lunch in their beautiful cafe, take your family for a great outing for just the cost of parking. You won t regret it.
Awesome museum. Great view and exhibits. However, the train line can get very long on weekends. I walked down the hill when leaving, which was a pretty nice walk and has good view.
An amazing setting with great views across LA. Well worth the $20 charge for parking. Free tours of the buildings and grounds. Spent several hours here just wandering around.
Amazing collections and exhibits. If you are the type of person who likes to take your time, I really recommend getting the audio guide. Food available on premises.
Insane postmodern baroque museum complex. Everything here screams exhuberance. Good collection and historical exhibits. A must if you come to LA. And it's free!
This place has lot to give to its customers as this one is one of the best museums in our town! But I did not like the place because I was bit skeptical about the place as my son suggested me to go here. I did not find their art to be the fantastic one! their collection is not superb and I dont know what this hype all about! people have given 5 star to this place but I am not giving them 5 because I have traveled to so many museums around the world but this is not up to the mark when you compare with them!! Sorry guys for 3 stars as this is not your mistake but The Getty did not made me feel to give 5 star!
Absolutely incredible. Everything from the art to the staff and of course the views has made the Getty one of the most memorable museums I have ever experienced!
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I ALWAYS take visiting friends & relatives. They are so surprised of just how beautiful it is and are in awe of the art collections & exhibits. IT'S A MUST GO TO AT LEAST ONCE IN YOUR LIFE!
The best thing in Los Angeles and it's free. Beautiful architecture and garden beside the great art exhibits . It's yours to enjoy. Go early to avoid the long line to the parking structure.
This was my first time to the Getty. The parking was effortless but somewhat expensive at $20 a pop. The tram ride was fun and give a hint to the spectacular views I would find it at the top of the hill. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious and then we walked around the gardens which, even in Winter, still held beautiful flowers and intricate designs. They have some amazing artwork and showcased several of the most famous names in art. We didn't make it through all the buildings but I will definitely go back as there's so much to see. Give yourself several hours if you intend to see all of the exhibits. It did get very crowded in the afternoon so I do recommend going earlier in the day.
Fancy place. Plus it's free! Parking is $20, it's cheaper if you come later but since the museum is free, the parking price is nominal. I really like the tram ride up. Cool view of the 405 and houses on the hill.
They have seasonal exhibits and permanent ones. They offer complimentary self guided tours on ipod touches but I didn't care for it. Talks for about 2 minutes about each painting which is longer than I care to stare at each one. I recommend finding something you like and some items have a corresponding number to punch in and hear about. They have art, sculptures, furniture, gardens, the list goes on. Restrooms and elevators can be hard to find but they have people everywhere so that helps.
Their cafe food was mediocre. Cafeteria style. I did appreciate the variety of food choices. Sounds funny but the most impressive was the condiments section. They have literally every topping you could think of. Everything from dijon mustard, chalula, parmesan cheese, lemons, relish etc etc etc. Last time I was here I went to the restaurant. It's a little more expensive but it was much better.
Overall, highly recommend. Great art and great view of the city.
The Getty Center is a great place to visit even if you do not know a great deal about art and paintings. They offer different kinds of free tours which are very informative and help you appreciate what you see. Each tour focusses on one of Getty Center's architecture, the gardens or the paintings and lasts 30-60 mins. Each tour is offered 3-4 times every day. You're given a handout that lists the schedule of the tours for the day. They have a cafe that provides several options and a more expensive restaurant. I loved how organized everything was and how committed they were to customer experience - it was a rainy day and lots of umbrellas were kept in stands for use by guests, there was a phone charging station for many types of phones that included lockers, disposal of used trays and plates at the cafe, and entry and exit from the tram were designed to be exceptionally hassle free.
Definitely a fun place to go to - they had great music on a Saturday night - the gardens were spectacular in addition to many exquisite art pieces! Would love to go back the next time I go to CA & visit! Hopefully it won't be as foggy next time! :)
The Getty is just unreal. Not only you get to see and appreciate truly amazing pieces of art kept at this location, you get unbelievable 360 views of LA, surrounding areas and the Pacific ocean. Also worth to mention the monorail ride to take you from parking to the main center is nothing short of adorable. The gardens and the wide range of plants kept here is also mind-blowing. Free admission and $20 for parking. Highly recommended!
Proposal: No children under the age of 12 are allowed in museums.
The horrid parking situation is expected since its located in population dense california. The embarassment of contemporary/modern art is also expected due to the parasitic influence of the impressionists which lead to a decrease of discipline in the arts. These things are bearable not too bad, but what I cant stand are the kids. Especially when they're screaming and imposing a danger to the art. I get the reason why bringing a kid to an art museum is important, its to instill an interest of art to them. However, now this is just a thought, what if those kids just learned it in school and on their freetime out of their own freewill visited that museum. Just a thought. Would save my teeth from being grinded into a fine powder, thank you.
It's huge and overwhelming! You have to spend the whole day here to see everything. Beautiful views, beautiful art, beautiful garden. The garden is a great place to take a break.
An impressive collection of art done in many media and periods displayed in incredible architectural buildings which draw on natural light and stone to highlight the works, all set on a paradise hill-top sanctuary with an unbeatable vista amidst gardens worthy of the classics themselves. Free. A must.
Open to anyone! After a quick bag check (as expected), you are taken by tram through the scenic hills of Los Angeles to the hidden paradise that is The Getty Center. The whole feel of the place is utopian and it s incredibly clean throughout. Learn about Getty s life and family, and explore the gifts he s left for the world to see (in the form of art, photos and sculptures), completely free of charge, with guides and events included throughout the day
Would recommend this place to anyone visiting LA, it s just a pain to get to if you re using the buses, would recommend driving or using uber or lyft for getting there.
Amazing view, great value for family, and the art pieces and the garden were awesome. I had a really great time looking at the Chinese painted caves replicas.
Always will be one of my favorite Ghetto-Ways.... it not only incorporates beautiful minds with wonderful architecture. It brings to life the artwork passed down to us by older generations
Large collection of art, beautiful gardens, amazing view of the city and incredible architecture. Couldn't finish all in a day so I hope to come back again. Free admission, free audio guide, free monorail service. What more to ask?
SO PRETTY! The sculptures are gorgeous, and the courtyards outside are amazing!!! Loved the views, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. 10/10 would recommend.
A free museum with art from around the world! The gardens are worth the visit alone... Be aware that some days they close fairly early. I would bring snacks as the cafes are quite expensive.
What an incredible place! Besides the numerous amount of art, it also has amazing garden and gorgeous view. The little walk to the museum has nice view of the city as well. It was like a trip to paradise.
Seriously stunning grounds and works of art. Accesibility was clearly important, as I noticed elevators and railings nearly everywhere. Hard to fit it all in one day.
Visiting the Getty feels like a mini vacation! It's so tranquil and well designed, with many different areas to explore. There is ample parking, but be prepared to drive down a few levels in their parking garage. A clean and convenient elevator will take you up to the platform for boarding the tram .
This museum is the best. It has a lot of art but because the galleries are stacked horizontally in towers you don't have to walk a country mile to see the entire thing.
What really sets this place apart is that they do an excellent job of teaching you about art. If you love impressionism or want to see great views of LA you need to see this.
A must when in L.A. Situated high up in the hills, the collection is impressive and diaplayed in many pavillions. Special exhibits and themes. The worlds best artists, classical and contemporary are featured and part of the impressive collection. Art lovers, you have been tagged.
