Beautiful architecture. Interesting permanent exhibits. Enjoyed to Hockney birthday exhibit.

Unimpressed with the garden which smelled strongly of garlic from an overuse of Society Garlic, which, if brushed against produces an overwhelming bad smell. Uninviting.

Free, just pay for parking. Amazing architecture. Gardens are sublime with gorgeous views of Santa Monica and LA. Art collection great. Had some Van Gogh too. Teams ride takes to the top. Parking garage is usually full. Take Uber or public transport. Loved it.

If you are fans of art this is a must place to visit. You can walk by foot from the parking slot to the entrance it is about 10 min. walk, and that way you can enjoy the view. The place is huge and you can spend at least 2-3 hours. The cafeteria on the lowest level is excellent.

Hard to find anything else like it. A full museum located in the hills of northern los angeles, with hundreds of pieces of artistic and historical importance for free to everyone who wishes to enter. Parking is 15 dollars, but you could just catch an uber instead. The food and drinks are decent but priced like an airport, which is hard to complain about since the museum is free.

One of the few free museums in America, with stunning architecture and gardens, great views of LA, and some of the best art you can find in any museum. If you go, there is a parking garage on site ($20 cost when you leave), but get there early. I got there right before opening on a Saturday, and got in quickly to park, but if you go later the line to get in the garage backs up. You can take a tram up for the museum or walk up. Keep in mind you do have to clear security, so don t bring giant bags or you ll have to check them. Walk around and enjoy the gardens and buildings and views just as much as the art. Lots of great food and coffee shops as well. Plan to spend at least a couple of hours here to soak in all that is available. This is definitely an LA must-see for locals and visitors.

I love the Getty! My boyfriend and I really enjoy walking in the garden after we see the amazing art collection. The setting is spectacular. Getting there in LA traffic is not easy though. It's a great visit and a must.

If you live in the LA area and havent been here you are missing out. Great pieces of art and every month there's something new and it's free (parking is $20). Great place to learn something and take a date or children. The views are spectacular except for the smog and the garden is a must see.

Wow! An absolutely amazing place to visit. I didn't come to see any exhibits but to enjoy the fantastic architecture, the immaculate grounds and the stunning views of LA that you can get from here. I took loads of photos and absolutely delighted to have been here.

This is an excellent museum and the works of art they have a very nice and just look amazing. It's also a plus that there's no admission but you only pay for parking which I really a great deal if you come with a bunch of people. The staff is very helpful with pointing you into direction of certain areas you might be wanted to go. Be careful when looking at some of the work as some art pieces you need to say arms length aways, which is totally fine.

Great day at the Getty.

Great day at the Getty.

We arrived at 10:15am on a Tuesday and waited in zero lines.

We had a packed lunch, picnic style, on the grass while there was still shade.

We left by 1:45pm and the lines were insane and people were eating in the blazing Southern California sun.

The Book of Beasts was very interesting!

Don't forget to play the musical stones.

The only peaceful spot in L.A.!

The only peaceful spot in L.A.!

Plus you get to enjoy beautiful artwork, a lovely garden, and nice views - once the smog from the city clears.

That being said the food is expensive (compared to L.A. street food) and parking is not the cheapest in town.

The best thing to do is to grab a bus, take a picnic basket, and plan to spent the day there.

Walk the garden in the A.M., visit the various indoor galleries around noon, and end your day looking East upon the city with the sun behind your back.

Enjoy! I know I do, no matter how many times I go.

The Getty has a nice big parking lot, to which you are directed upon arrival by car. Parking is $15, but is discounted to $10 after 3pm. The museum is otherwise free to the public. You then board a little tram that takes you up the hill to the museum itself. The museum is nestled high above much of LA, so you can enjoy some really beautiful views of the surrounding area. That and the architecture of the museum were probably my favorite parts of the visit. Overall, the collection itself did not grab me personally as much as the material in LACMA for example, and I found the display of the art a bit fragmented (across multiple pavilions) and haphazard, which is a pity. The place can also get a bit overrun. Nevertheless, clearly a must-visit location in LA.

Amazing architecture and absolutely worth seeing when you're in LA. The views are extraordinary. If you are considering going to the Getty make sure to come when it opens. Even then parking in the garage was hard. Parking per car is 20$ but the museum is free. There is a train up the the buildings though the line is always long. I suggest the walk up the hill which they offer. On the way down the train is not busy at all. Bring good walking shoes and have a good trip!

The Getty was an awesome experience. The art, sculptures, & exhibits are great pieces of history. To top it off, Paul Getty opened this freely for the world to enjoy. Definitely a great place to visit.

This is my favorite place in the world. I always love being here. Their permanent and temporary exhibits are impressive, well presented, and interesting. This environment is welcoming to all ages.

A very cumbersome way to get to the museum. Parking, screening, and then the shuttle ride. But the museum itself is totally worth it. Easy to spend three hours walking from building and covering both floors. Not very kid friendly though. If you have the time, go the restaurant and skip the Cafe's.

Great for families, dates and a change of scenery for work meetings (free WiFi). The only cost is $15 parking ($10 after 3pm). They have exhibits for all tastes as well as fun events. Took our kids to the jazz in the garden events this summer and they loved it!

The venue is very beautiful, well preserved and the building is lovely. You can admire the many views from the terrace of the building, especially if it is a sunny sunny day. We took part in a free tour, very interesting, not too long and boring. After that, we explore ourselves. At lunch time, we have a little snack outside and some coffee. The price is very high but not very outrageous, and the choice is also very good. PB&J sandwiches are very cheap, plus bananas, which make healthy, cheap little lunches. In hindsight, we can bring a picnic, and the lawn and grass are very attractive. The staff is very friendly and many volunteers. The bright architecture gives a modern and cheerful feel. There are plenty of water dispensers and the washrooms are modern and clean. After that, we drove to Hollywood's Avenue of Stars, it was not too far away, it was a wonderful day trip.
5 stars, everyone has a thumbs up for Getty!

Admission to the Getty Center is free! The only thing you have to pay for is $15 parking. The parking structure has plenty of levels for parking so you just got to be patient and drive around in circles a few minutes. Once you get out of your car and head to the elevator, it takes you to the tram. The tram is also free, which takes you up to the Getty Center. Once you're there, you're free to roam around and check out the beautiful art and take in the scenery of Los Angeles. This is a great place to take a date and just wander around and take pictures.

The museum itself is breathtaking, however the customer service of the security officers needs enhancement. Upon approaching musuem guests, there was a particular security officer by the name of Michaelle Senegal who spoke to our party with an unnecessary rude undertone. Granted one person in our party had touched an artistic piece but the way she was told that there was no touching the artwork, was uninviting and unwelcoming. It should be a best practice to ensure that the wow factor is not only exhibited from the pieces but also the staff as a bad experience will travel faster than a positive one. This is our first trip to California and I will be sure to share this experience with inquiring onlookers on social media and with my cohorts.
