Getty was cool, staff were cool, but I'm salty about how I had to pay 20$ for parking when I left at closing..noone was there to check if I paid, so it felt pointless. I parked at the additional parking across the street that I was directed to by staff.

Excellent museum. Parking was the only cost we had when visiting, other than gift shop and coffee. Excellent items on display, and the views and museum grounds were immaculate.

I consider it a must see if in LA, if you remotely enjoy museums.

The artwork here is absolutely amazing. This place is so large and magnificent that I could spend many days here. The views from the top of the hill are worth the trip alone. The guided tours are very interesting and informative and the cost of admission is absolutely perfect, free!

A must see, if you're a local like me you can easily find yourself at The Getty two or more times a year and each time you will find everything new. I bring many of my visitors here and than I get to enjoy it again myself. Bring a little something to eat and make a little picnic on the lawn. You can get a cup of coffee to get a start to the day. Be ready to spend $5 for a cup. So bring lunch and save a little doe. Parking will cost you $20 But everything else is pretty much free, cool.

One of the top destinations in Los Angeles, an area loaded with "top destinations". This museum is a combination of outstanding facilities, phenomenal views, and an excellent collection of art and antiquities. It isn't the most extensive collection, but it is still very, very good and try finding a museum with views as good as this one. Highly recommend.

Love that this place has various types of artwork to look at. You can admire the architectural design of the buildings and the beautiful landscape of the garden. Most people come to see the garden but don't forget the artwork inside.

Stunning collection of expensive and rare paintings! It's hard to believe that it's free, and that you can inspect the paintings so close. A great experience. No charge for admission, but $15 for parking and a tram takes you up the hill to the museum. The parking fee is good for the Villa Museum over in Malibu the same day which also has free admission

Beautiful and awe inspiring architecture. The 2 temporary exhibits are well displayed and interpreted. I wish I would have a full day to explore the collections, garden and enjoy the vistas of LA.

Wonderful! I was visiting from the Philippines. My daughter brought me to the Getty for lunch and to view the different collections. One aftenoon isn't enough! I'll come back next time I visit my daughter and son-in-law.

Great place to Zen, read study or work remotely if you have signal lol. (TMobile and Verizon Seem to work fine here in most areas), lovely vistas of Santa Monica and excibitions. Depends on time of the year also a great spot for taking in the sunset before closing. There some snack, food and drink shops. $15 parking before 3pm and $10 after.
You can take the tram up the hill or an easy 10-15 minutes hike.
If you have a back pack of sorts be prepared to bag check.

Make sure that you have at least half day to visit this place. No entry fees. If you go by car you only have to pay for parking. You can take a tram and go uphill to visit the museum. You get a nice panaromic view uphill. The museum has 5 sections and filled with amazing art pieces.

The museum is a treasure trove of rare artwork. Allow ample time here to truly enjoy all that they have to offer. Also check the website for special activities for all age levels. The location is on a hill overlooking the pacific ocean so have a coat with you for those days when the coastal marine layer is keeping it cool.

Parking is limited and lines for the shuttle up to the building are long. Don't wear anything too fancy because you'll save a little time walking a mile uphill instead of taking the shuttle, and it can be tricky or less comfortable in dress attire. The Getty is located atop a hill overlooking the city and the ocean. Gorgeous views and landscape. Everything is of superior quality, with great attention to detail. There is so much to see and read that you could get lost in there for hours. Staff are attentive and friendly and most exhibits allow photographs. While bringing younger children may provide a great learning opportunity and exposure to the arts, it might be more suitable for older children, in order to fully appreciate the subtle notes of artistic flair and style, surrounding knowledge of the historical period, and stamina to take in seemingly thousands of exhibition pieces. All in all, would highly recommend as a tourist or local on a day trip, as exhibits rotate and you might get something new out of it or see something you missed each time you visit.

Free exibitions just pay parking, or park down the stree and go for free all together! Cant beat that! Great views and excellent place to spend with friends or family. Also a great spot for dates!

Great museum with a lot of open area. Getting into the parking lot was a bit of hassle because of the traffic. You don't need to pay for the museum, just price of parking. Place is so beautiful with great paintings and artifacts. The place can get busy but not busy enough to prevent you from visiting.

Super cool place. FYI, you do pay $20 for parking, so it s not totally free. But the museum itself had beautiful architecture and amazing views. Then the art itself is a nice collection with some dominant works.

A beautiful gallery dedicated to cataloguing culture for future generations. 15$ parking fee if you arrive before 3:00pm and 10$ otherwise. No entry fee. Spend an hour, spend a day! Great restaurants also.

Wow.

This place is beyond expectation!
Not to mention for the admission free, (parking is $15 a day: you can also go and park at Getty Villa within the same date) the gardening, the exhibition, and the view are excellent.

The art display (particularly the Renaissance and 1700s art) was very nice, with some famous paintings (Titian, Rubens, Rembrandt, Monet) featured. There was also a large section on Louis XVI. There was a special exhibit on Hellenistic sculpture, and it featured the famous Arringatore statue of early Roman times. The museum was very large, and I did not like the architectural style of the place. The background music was very loud and objectionable.

Plan to spend the full day at the Getty. This museum is one of the best in the world. Everyone starts out with an orientation (yes, it's that big) which tells you the history of the space and that of the original one in Malibu.
You can borrow an iTouch which will give you the audio history of the art you are viewing by just pushing in some numbers. You must have an ID to borrow it. The campus also has free wifi for your use.
In the middle of your art walk, enjoy a meal at one of the many cafeterias, or bring your own picnic lunch. The prices are middle to high depending on which one you choose. I had a 1/2 soup/sandwich combo and it was around $11. Why they call it a combo when no drink was included is a mystery.
You can participate in active workshops where you can sketch paintings. Children will not be bored since they have lots of hands on things for them to do.
Since we are in a drought in California, some of the water fountains are off, and they do add to the charm.
Here's a fun fact: Star Trek (the new one) used the campus for filming. It was used as the Academy, mainly the outside. That is because it does have a very futuristic feel to it.

Aesthetically pleasing art museum and garden overlooking the LA metropolis. Admission is free, but parking is not. Not sure what the typical exhibit rotation is, but when I visited there was an eclectic collection ranging from Roman marble sculptures, modern concrete art, Renaissance oil paintings, and Latin American gold/ceramic ornaments.
