Amazing gallery and museum. Worth the $15 dollars parking. A huge collection (not as big as European ones) however a wide range of famous artist and pairings. If yu don't like art just go for the architecture and views alone!

We visited on a Sunday and parked in the lowest level of the structure. The queues for the tram were long so we walked instead - easy incline and breezy on a hot afternoon. Borrow an umbrella if the sun is high. Kids enjoyed the gallery aimed at them and running/rolling through the gardens.

Immense, showstopper museum built by people with more money than God, on what used to be a rare, pretty, untouched hillside above the 405. Pretends to care about research, and education, and such; but feels to me more like just showing off. Staff has a long-time rep for dealing in looted and stolen works. It's cost them zillions in having to return works to Italy, Turkey, and Greece etc., so maybe they've cleaned up their act.

So much to do in such a wonderful place. Definitely a place to visit in LA. The Getty is free to visit and has a few places where you can get some things to eat and drink (although not really cheap).
There are a few buildings with different exhibits connected by very nice gardens which each have nice areas to sit and enjoy the scenery, a book and a snack.
Very good views of LA by day, sunset and at night.
There is a lot to do and you could easily fill a full day there.
Highly recommended for culture and even for a bit of relaxation.

Beautiful museum. Everything was very spacious and pretty. There was art from across the generations. The only issue with the museum is the really long wait time to get in and the lack of parking.

Absolutely wonderful!!!

Absolutely wonderful!!!
Anazing place to go to even if you went every week you'll find something different that you haven't seen before.
They changed some of the exhibitions pretty regularly about a month or two sometimes more depending on who they're focusing on. Great place to just chill and reset your mind in a very beautiful garden space where you can sit and relax with your family and friends. A lot of beautiful plans and trees to see.
There is no entry fees. Only parking fees of $15.
There is so much to see and explore. It has very good cafeteria serving good snacks and coffee.
Had a stunning views over LA from the top teracies.

This is a great and beautiful museum to visit. Firstly, admission is free, (you only need to pay for parking), second, the museum itself has a beautiful veiw and nice architecture, finally, the art within the museum is amazing. Every piece of art has an informative explanation next to it, making it possible for you to learn whilst appreciating art. I highly recommend this place if you're in LA.

Had a great time. Thought cafe was not a good value for cost. Staff very helpful to mobility challenged but there was a lack of auto openers for beautiful but very heavy doors. With the restroom, had to wait until someone came along to help.

One of the best art museums in the world. It has incredible views of Los Angeles, even when it is hazy, and the permanent exhibits are amazing.

Be sure to check out their temporary exhibits as well. Each one is packed with information. If the exhibit is too expansive for you, the companion books allow you to revisit at your own pace. They are expensive, but worth it.

This is a beautiful institution. There is only a $15 parking fee. The entrance is free. There is an awesome team that takes you up to the museum. The impressionists was my favorite section. There are beautiful views of LA to be seen as well.

Love it, such a unique experience in the middle of LA and it s FREE. You only have to pay for parking if you are driving there. Great exhibits for those into the arts pulse it has a 360 degree view on the Mountain top. The train ride is cool too

Beautiful museum. It is the richest in the world with a $10 billion endowment. Spend at least half a day here. Take advantage of their free architecture and garden tours. They are separate and about an hour long for each. Love this place. Plus it is free. The food is pricey but excellent quality.

One of best place when we traveled in L.A.
Nice views and they charge you nothing for it.
Lots of stuff to look around.
They also offer apps with headphone, make sure you get it before you start it. Helps you to understand some of art better, and protect being lost! (The Map included)

The Getty Center is stunning! It is absolutely beautiful. The architecture, the gardens, the views, the collections... all incredible! I highly recommend.

We got there just after 3PM on Sunday afternoon. They're only open until 5:30 on Sundays, and that was not enough time to spend in this enchanting place. Plus it's huge! You definitely need more than a couple hours to see and appreciate everything. Parking decreases by $5 after 3PM, and a lot of others were there to take advantage of that. It was pretty busy in the parking lot and waiting to get through security and get on the tram up to the Getty. If I did it again, I'd have encouraged my friend to leave our hotel room earlier and we'd have skipped what turned out to be a disastrous brunch that too way too long. My original thought was to get there around noon or 1PM, and that would've been much, much better. Lesson learned!

Prioritizing what to see in my limited time, I went and saw the Impressionist art right away, and then spent most of my time enjoying the view from above the cactus garden or in the central garden. It was my first time here, and I can't wait to go back.

This is my favorite museum that I have ever been to. The garden is beautiful, the scenery incredible and for the most part, it's free except for parking. I got to see on this trip a Degas, Manet, Van Goht, Monet, and many other impressionist paintings. The key to going is to arrive as they open it else it gets crowded very quickly.

Since it's opening in 1997, the Getty Center remains one of the must see places in LA County. I call it my Celestial City. Entrance is free, parking is flat fee of $15 and only $10 after 3pm. There's an upscale restaurant with a panoramic view of the hills and cityscape, as well as a casual cafe and some coffee and snack kiosks. They provide umbrellas when it rains. The grounds are lovely to wander and roam and get great views. Of course the museum exhibits are top notch. Museum shop has a fantastic assortment of artwork and art history books. There's also a phone charging station and you can get use for free of audio self-tour equipment by letting them hold your ID. It's a modern wonder of architecture and open community space. Good place to come and dream!

Visit during the day or late afternoon and stay for the evening. Views, both inside and out are amazing. Great selection of art - paintings, tapestries, sculpture, marketry furniture... They have so many exhibits. Audio tour is free, as is the tram.

Undoubtedly, the Getty is a world class museum, comparable to the Metropolitan or even the Louvre. Although the actual collections are superb, I find the facilities to be almost as impressive. For a $15 parking fee, you receive a visit to a beautifully designed building, scenic views of LA, and a truly breathtaking cultural experience. It is simply a must-see for anyone visiting the LA area!

Of course you cannot deny the overwhelming architecture and views. However, for the sheer size of the complex there was hardly any art within. For the photography section, just one David Hockney exhibition. There is so much room here for art but it is yet to be filled.

There are also so many gift shops that occupy the space. I'm glad I bought a ham sandwich as the cafe is ridiculously expensive.

Pull some sense out of your arse Getty Center.

One of the most unique experiences in LA. The Getty Museum is built at the top of a hill with an astonishing view wherever side you look at. It has an amazing permanent exhibitions of Greek, Roman, and Etruscan art from the Neolithic to Late Antiquity European art. It also has a building for different exhibitions from other parts of the world.

There are not many places to park your car, but the museum has a parking lot where you can leave your car for the day. Then you ll go uphill with a free train built only for the museum. Actually, you ll only pay something at the Getty if you want to eat or drink something. There s also a store with cool merch.

Definitely one of the best places to visit in LA if you re a fan of art, architecture, history and gardens.

Without a doubt - when you are in LA this is a must. Free entry, parking is only $15. The views are astonishing, the architecture alone worth the drive and the ever changing exhibitions are the the sixth star on top of things.

Highly recommended!

Spectacular place for its location, for its architecture, for its views, for its artworks, for EVERYTHING. Special mention to the area dedicated to Impressionism, including works by Monet, Renoir, Degas or Cezanne. My favorite, La Rue Mosnier aux drapeaux by Edouard Manet... too much meaning in it. Many thanks to The Getty Foundation for their incredible work.

This is a perfect tourist spot for just about everybody! Very easy to get to, and very scenic. The museum itself is so large it takes an entire day to venture through. The flower gardens is a must see.

If in the LA area, I would suggest getting a reservation at the Getty Villa and make a trip to Getty Center. If going to both places please ensure you get your parking validated so you do not pay twice. Paintings at Getty Center I think appeal to a variety of tastes. Getty Villa, provides a visitor a sense of what a well to do individual's lifestyle in ancient Rome.

Awesome museum. Free entry, and offers a star-trekky tram ride up the hill. Always a lot of open exhibitions to choose from, with something for everyone. It's a bit of a drive from Downtown LA, but definitely worth the trip is the sunset view of the city from the museum. Parking is not free, however you pay less if you arrive after 3pm. Onnyour way back, you can opt for the 15mins walk down from the museum to the parking lot, instead of waiting for the tram if there is a long line.

Some very good exhibitions from Getty: Art of 3 faiths: Torah, Bible bad Qur'an; The Renaissance nude; A queen's treasure from Versailles and others, all of them are great! Parking is just $15.
