I highly recommend making you way through the south building. The Getty has many incredible things to show you!
I highly recommend making you way through the south building. The Getty has many incredible things to show you!
Need to spend more than one day there to really capture it all. My first time there and it didn t disappoint. After all these years of learning about Van Gogh, Monet, Cezanne, etc and get to see their works up close is amazing.
Beautiful structure with one of the best views in Los Angeles, on a clear day you can see far across the Pacific ocean. Take the tram and at the top you'll find a massive museum housing art both classic and modern, statues, gardens, and photography as well as a rotating exhibit so there's always something new.
This place is excellent for family, it has one of the greatest gardens and boudism culture replica caves
Extraordinary place to walk around. The outdoor spaces and gardens are beautiful and welcoming. I'll be back soon. Definitely worth a visit, even if you don't have time for or interest in the art exhibits.
AMAZING museum. I loved riding the tram to get to it. It's massive and wonderful, definitely a great place to visit for tourists or families just wanting something chill to do. It's also free so WHY NOT go right?
Good selection of restaurant and coffee, service beer and wine. Friendly staff beautiful art and good prices on souvenirs.
Add this to your list to visit. if visiting from other States.
Lovely gardens. Awesome views of LA and the architecture is amazing.
Such a great time here. The line to take the tram up must've been at least 30-45 min so we decided to walk. Wasn't too bad but if you or someone in your group has a hard time with a solid 15 min gradual incline then consider waiting in line. Beautiful atmosphere and world famous artwork. You could spend the entire day here if you wanted to.
World class art collections, and beautiful garden. Definitely worth a visit !
I don't know of anything else quite like the Getty! This amazing art gallery is free to enter, with parking being $15. The site and architecture is with the visit alone! Not to mention the amazing views across Los Angeles; from downtown to the Pacific Ocean. The art itself is also quite amazing. The four main pavilions house art spanning several centuries, and the central garden is just gorgeous.
Enjoyed my afternoon here.
Lots of great art, the building and gardens are stunning too. Oh and not forgetting the views of downtown LA, Century City, Santa Monica and the Pacific Ocean.
I went on a couple of the tours one was good and the other the woman didn t really know much aside from she likes it. Lovely lady but wanted a little more (and she was a volunteer)
Overall highly worth a morning or afternoon of your time.
There's so much to see at the Getty. We took the Impressionists tour and explored the special Bestiary exhibit, which had a lot of Bestiary books from the 1100s to the 1300s. There was a really interesting video showing how the books were made, from the parchment (which was animal skin!) to the ink and pens and colors for the illuminations, and the bonding and covers. Parking is $20 and entrance to the Getty is free. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely go back there to explore more.
Great views and art, the new art is amazing as well.
Abosultey astounding architecture. The exhibits that rotate through are also very good. The view from the museum over L.A. is amazing. All of this for free! This place is a must visit of you are in L.A. be sure to plan dinner out around the traffic on your way back home.
Fantastic setting....garden and buildings impressive
Need more than a day to really enjoy EVERYTHING the Getty has to offer. Great place to just have lunch in the courtyard as well if you re in the area. Don t forget to stop by the shop as well it offers dope souvenirs, books and much more!
Great museum. Just have to pay $15 for parking and the museum is free.
Great place to spend with family. Bring picnic basket
The art is fantastic, the tours are enjoyable, making you feel very much more connected to the establisment. The actual architecture is stunning as well.
The Getty museum is awesome I especially love the gardens. It s huge so I never get to see everything. I would buy a membership if I still lived in LA for sure.
It s also freeeee which is amazing for such an excursion. Parking is $15, still a bargain especially if there s at least 2 of you so carpool, uber or take a bus and it will be the least expensive most worth sightseeing tour to do in LA whether you re visiting or a local. There is a tram you take to get up there and it overlooks the 405 so that s a fun view from the hill.
I like their gift shops lots of good quality items, I bought an Antonio Vivaldi musical wind up box for my daughter and a Bollywood cd for me, the items are seasonal based on the exhibition though FYI. They have cafes indoor and out so you can have a break grab a bite and make a day of it. Otherwise bring a picnic and enjoy in the gardens. Great for families, couples and even tinder dates I m sure haha
Their tends to be people from all over the world so it s fun to people watch and maybe make new friends too. I see a lot of school field trips so definitely an educational experience for those looking to learn.
I can go back in a heart beat. I have done so 3 times each year.
Amazing view and numerous European art pieces to be admired. Camera friendly and free admission.
I never get tired of going there. I'm so fortunate to live here and be able to go frequently.
Once you step off the tram that takes you up the hill, the architecture itself is a beautiful work of art. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The landscape is so serene and you get a tremendous view of Los Angeles, all the way to the ocean. Inside, they have some mainstays, but have revolving exhibits. You will see the best of the best of the masters. A nice addition to viewing the art is being able to participate in a drawing room where they provide all your supplies free of charge and you can draw for as long as they're open, daily. It's one of my favorite places to go and it's a must see if you're visiting L.A.
From the trams, to the grounds, to the gardens, to the exhibits, to the architecture, it is hard to imagine a more transporting location. 100% worth the trip, no matter what they're showcasing.
Beautifully landscaped garden area...wonderful museum to have access to in Los Angeles!
Fun and beautiful place. It was crowded but not obnoxiously. I recommend going in the morning to avoid the long tram queue. Though, you can walk up from the parking lot in about 15mins and I d recommend doing that if you can. Walk up and tram down.
Great museum and collection
Good to spend a day
Such a lovely place. The art inside its OK but architecture outside is even better
Free entry, $15 car/motorcycle parking ($10 after 3pm)
Beautiful view and architecture. Art selection was diverse. Liked it better than LACMA.
Great, huge art center. Leave at least 4-5 hours to visit. Very informative, well organized, easy and interesting to learn key facts. Even the restaurant is very good.
It's amazing and beautiful! I'm going back tomorrow. (It's closed on Mondays. )
Worth a visit if you're into art and great views of LA!
Relaxing in the beautiful gardens made for a romantic date. Loved listening to the live music performers.
The museum has free admission and paid parking. If you take the bus there, then you just ride the tram to the museum, which is free. This is a great place to spend an afternoon. They offer several free tours every day. Highly recommend.
What an amazing experience. Los Angeles is really lucky to have such a large private collection of art that is not only free to go see (you have to pay for parking) but on par with other major museums throughout the world.
Free entry!! Great experience. We were able to see the bollywood dancers when we were there. The gardens are heavenly! Dont forget to bring your camera for pictures!!
Kind of underwhelming...probably a great place for huge art/museum fans & those who have never been to Europe or even Met! I'm neither of those. Food and drinks SOOOOOO OVERPRICED. 5$ for a bottle of water! Kidding me?
Went and didn't even see any exhibits. Just walked around this incredibly stunning piece of architecture with amazing views. Well worth the visit just for that.
Free Admission, $15 dollar parking, you can't find a better deal for a medium of this caliber or experience. The cafeteria. On site was exceptional too.
Lovely gardens and architecture. Check out this life-like sculpture.
Must visit while in LA. Beautiful setting. Wonderful art works. Accessible.
Really great free museum. Just pay $15 for parking or free after 3pm. Really big. You need the whole day. Don t bother with a tour just walk around and enjoy.
Boring. Great views on a clear day. Just something to do once in your life. I was glad I went once, but glad I will never have to do it again. I don't appreciate art, so that's probably why I am not a fan. I did enjoy the geography outside though. I also enjoyed kip and his mom and dad. Good company always makes up for these kinds of places.
Awesome place! awesome view! Awesome architechture, Awesome exhibit
I loved the Getty. What an amazing musuem and collection of art! The setting on hill overlooking the city of Los Angeles is fantastic.
This place was so amazingly beautiful. The tours were great although it was hard to hear the tour guides. Hearing the stories of how it was built was fascinating. I am going back again soon.
Beautiful campus, historic collections, state of the art facilities. I can't wait to come back.
Grate place, I was here in Chris max 2019 and see most works of art: paintings, statues, reliefs
A great way to spend a few hours in Los Angeles. Parking is $15, but entrance to the Center is free. Definitely a good place to bring an LA visitor.
What a incredible place, the gardens, the view of LA, it's a really good place for what art with this amazing view.
Just another art museum. Went with a couple friends; I got bored waiting to leave each room. Looking at art work you just bores me; it leaves me with the question: Do people just go to art museums to make themselves appear sophisticated to impress one-another? If so, sophistication is boring. But, I did like the train, view of L.A., and architecture all around.
If you enjoy looking at artwork, set aside a whole day for this place! It is mind-blowing how many paintings, sculptures, artifacts, sketches...you get the idea...there are here - and that's just the collections displayed indoors! There are incredible gardens and fountains outside...the architecture itself is a work of art...and the absolute best part: the view from up there! WOW! Schedule your time so that you can catch the sunset. I have no words to say more...it's just that good.
A heart-stopping roller coaster ride of excitement and amazingly beautiful things
Great place for a afternoon date. Free, except for parking cost.
Great Place for a family outing. Something for all ages
Great exhibits. Free museum. Parking was reasonable. Grounds and staff were terrific
A world class art museum ... for free. (There's a reasonable $20 parking fee however.). It hosts excellent temporary exhibits as well as a permanent collection. The garden alone is well worth the visit.
It is housed in graceful modernist architecture, high above the Los Angeles basin, with striking views in every direction.
Incredible space and peaceful atmosphere. You will easily spend your whole afternoon there, wandering in the sculpture garden, diving into the multiple exhibitions or just enjoy the view!
It's an amazing museum filled with permanent and temporary galleries. Admission is free and parking at the garage is $15. They have both guided and self-guided tours available. I prefer the self-guided one because I like the freedom to go at my own pace. For the self-guided tour you just give them an id and you can borrow an old iPhone with headphones. Then as you go about exploring the museum some of items will have a number that you type into your iPhone and a recording will play about the item. I was there for 5 hours and still feel the need to return because I didn't see everything. It's such a beautiful museum and definitely worth checking out.
Take the chance to experience this amazing museum of art
Not much into art. The views of the city are spectacular. The architecture of the museum it self is impressive
Make sure to make time for this place! Bring a picnic blanket
So much to see here, you need at least one full day to enjoy all the art works and the garden. I would love to go back next time I'm in LA.
The architecture and views over the city is stunning. The artwork is varied and very beautiful. One of the coolest parts is the tram ride up to the museum itself.
Large campus comprised of multiple buildings. Displays classical artwork, predominantly paintings. The grounds contain a sculpture garden and multiple large green spaces to sit down and relax along with water features and a small stream. You have to get a train/tram up the the centre itself which was fun. I spent most of my time here photographing the buildings. There are decent views as you are high up also.
You can't find a prettier place for art and gardens, gorgeous. Sign up for exhibit tours, they make it that much more interesting.
Pretty phenomenal, I can't believe the extraordinary collection of works
It was my second time and it was still an amazing experience for me..
Overwhelmingly number of galleries. Incredible spot overlooking all of Los Angeles and out the the ocean. If I was there during summer months, could easily see myself hanging out in one their many terraces all day.
A must see when visiting Los Angeles.
It is FREE (BESIDES PARKING) which is rare for LA.
Stunning views and even more important art with a story to tell.
Bring the friends and family the gardens alone are worth the trip.
this is my second time going to The Getty Museum and I love it. Firstly, I didn't know this was a free museum and parking is only 20 dollars (what?!) That's a deal because there's a garden, sculpture garden, about three different buildings filled with art plus more. The scenery and view of Los Angeles is amazing and the food was pretty good and a little pricey (grilled chicken with rice pilaf and sauteed kale and carrots) we was there for 4 hours just taking our time and enjoying. Definitely worth your time and money especially if you have a large group or family
