Lovely museum. While you pay for parking ($20) it is nothing compared to the experience you get for free. Really appreciated the regularly scheduled tours. Free audio guide and an amazing view of the city as well. Simply a great way to spend a day.

Loved the fact that it was so well maintained and free too. I'm not a big fan of art, but this place offers a glimpse into the past which was astounding. Definitely one of the best attractions in the city.

Wonder why people don't know the jewel. Glad that I took three tours during my first tour: museum highlights, garden tour and architecture tour. They helped me get the best of the best in a short day. Well, I believe you need to take at least 2 to 3 days to enjoy the collections and the museum itself. While roaming the flashy Hollywood and two theme parks, appreciate the high arts here as well.

Great museum, bring a blanket and enjoy the grounds too! The tours are fun to take and you learn something new every time. I have taken 3 Architecture tours so far (when I have friends and family come for a visit) and each one was a bit different with some great new info.

The immense scale of Architecture will surely make you feel awesome. The atmosphere is very lively. The sound of water channeled at the center of the court makes a peaceful environment along with the background music. It is famous for the piano curved structure at the entrance lobby. There is a souvenir shop alongside the lobby. There is a kiosk for drinks and snacks at the court.

The Entire J. Paul Getty Center is a work of art-From the meticulously well kept gardens, many unique water fountains to the actual buildings themselves which are artfully shaped and sculpted. There's so much here that you cannot see it all in one day. There is so many sculptures and artwork to see, it's absolutely wonderful and one of my go to places to relax and take in the art and scenery. 10 out of 10, highly recommended!

The architecture, artwork, and the garden are fantastic. Truly inspiring for both the budding artist, and average tourist. The audio tour is informative and the staff are friendly. Gift shop can get a little pricey and there's no military discount but otherwise a great experience overall.

Everything is beautiful and artsy: the buildings, the gardens, the landscape, even the food in the cafeteria. Worth every minute of your time. The vast art collection is outstanding in its quality. Both, the Getty Villa and the Getty museum, are a must for art lovers.

The Getty's Renaissance Nude exhibition is tremendous. It is rare that we get to see such a collection of Renaissance masters here in Los Angeles in one place brought together under one theme. The exhibition was thoughtfully laid out. While it was crowded one could still easily enjoy all the art. Plus you can't beat free. If you haven't gone to the Getty you need to get there.

Beautiful museum and collections were wonderful. Collections are more on the traditional European side. Not really my taste but still enjoyable nonetheless. If your tastes run on the modern side, this museum is not the place for you. The Broad is more for you.

I can t believe this place is free!! (Minus the $15 a day parking) it was such a great experience! You take a tram up to the centre and it is beautiful. So well designed and has such a clean modern look. The centre is huge and has 3 buildings that are organized by era which are their permanent collections. While we were there an Egyptian section was in place and it was incredible!
I ve never been anywhere like this place. And if you re looking for a surround view of LA from above, this is the place to go.
Food is expensive here at the cafes so bring your own if that s an issue!
They also offer free umbrellas for your use to stay out of the sun but there is AC in all buildings.

Everything was as beautiful as I expected and imagined unlike the Getty Villa which is under major renovation for the next several months.
Visiting during the week before noon and you should be ok with parking. Plan to spend at least three hours so as not to rush and fully enjoy the exhibits. If you also plan to visit the Getty Villa the same day, then remember to get a receipt for your paid parking from the machine (just push the button when prompted).

This museum was amazing! I've never been to one as beautiful as this. There was plenty to see outside besides just inside with the views and being able to see the city from here. Breathtaking!!! The cafe had good good. Pricey but most museums are, I got the burrito and for the price, the quality was delicious! Will be coming back here multiple times in the future!

Rainy day. Buckets of umbrellas available - you're not permitted to bring your own. There was no line for the tram at 12:30pm. Security searched everyone's bags before being allowed to board the tram. Easy to find employees whenever we had a question and they were very helpful. The garden was closed because of the weather. The restaurant was also closed but the outdoor cafe was open for a small variety of pre-made sandwiches/salads, some desserts, and drinks. The Manet exhibit was fantastic and we also saw a lecture (Artist at Work: Fashion and Impressionism) where costume historian Maxwell Barr outfitted a model in period costumes. It was fantastic and they are having that lecture again in January 2020 so look for it. It was amazing. He recreated the dress in Manet's painting Jeanne (Spring). Parking is $20. A great day in a beautiful place. The trees are all lit up for the holidays. Great museum gift shop too.

Simply amazing place to visit. So many things to see here you can t possibly fit it all into one trip. I my wife and kids here and there was never a dull moment. Even the tram to get in was fun for them. They were playing live music when we were there. We visited the Egyptian, Greek and Roman exhibits and let the kids make masks in the family exhibit. The garden and grass area was a hit with them. I only visited here once or twice while I lived here. I should have gone more often!

We had paid in advance, but on arrival to LA, we ran into a detour off Ventura I believe. Well, long story short, we arrived at the tram with only 45 minutes to see the Getty. OMG !! We get in the building and my husband went in one direction and me the other. We decided we would tell each other what we saw.it was such a wjirlwind, but we couldn't get our time changed to the next day. Oh well. We met out on the upper overlook and view the city and the stars on the hill. No pictures. At this time it's time to leave and get on the tram. Which I loved. If we're ever that way again from Louisiana, we will prepare much better trip.
We never took into our thinking of traffic or possible delays. But even with that, we loved our trip to the Getty. To get all this art immersion, we have to go to Dallas-Fort worth to larger museums than are available in Shreveport. But we do have gambling casinos and boats!
ip.oved what we got to see. Next time.

The Getty Center is one of the best art experiences I've been to in the world. Here's why:
1) Design: It's beautiful! You can easily spend hours just photographing the buildings, especially if you go during sunset. There's also a large outdoor garden as well.
2) Art: There are several buildings with art from photography to gothic art. There's something for everyone!
3) Experience: It's a fun day! You take a train to the campus and can spend the day there exploring, taking in the views, or with a good book. The Getty has wifi and many tables for those who need a space to work.
On top of all of this, entrance is FREE! So amazing!

An incredible and expansive museum. Free admission, you just have to pay $15 for parking. Absolutely unbeatable. Many works that highlight defining eras in art, and several from well known masters. Gorgeous gardens as well with great views of Los Angeles. The snacks are overpriced, but I suppose that's the tradeoff for free admission. Definitely recommend for art students and enthusiasts.
