This is a cosy establishment with low lighting that makes it ideal for the cold months, but it's a good pub all-year round. The food is average for nowadays' standards but better than when it first opened under Antic. The varying ale selection is still very good although it's been weakened by Antic's insistence on selling its own brewery's (Volden) slime. It attracts a mixed crowd which is surprising for an Antic pub but beneficial nonetheless. Well worth a visit.

Best pub in the area. Always a good selection of beer on, friendly staff and cosy atmosphere. Has a TV for big sporting events but it never dominates the room. An asset to New Cross/Deptford

An excellent, bustling archaic pub serving divine food and a wide range of fine wines and other equally delectable beverages. One would thoroughly recommend the ravishing sticky toffee experience, there is not one like said sticky toffee pudding in all of the borough of Lewisham. One would advise visiting on a fine Monday's eve to challenge the locals to a pub quiz.Snappy service, Sophisticated setting, and overall a super soir!

Cool old school pub, dark and classic interior. Can get incredibly busy which i personally find a little annoying. Outside area out the front to smoke/drink with benches. Definitely worth checking out if in the area.

Beautiful decor with a buzzy feel. Great board game, food and drink selection! Has a cosy, festival feel! Great place for a happening, intimate drink or socialising with friends. One of my favourite places in the SE area.

Great atmosphere, beer very varied and well kept. For some reason, bar staff unwelcoming and give the impression they don't want to be there. Shame as it's a real downside to what could be a great pub.

This pub has always been a firm favourite. Back in the day in a previous incarnation but was an amazing music venue. Nowadays it's a great local boozer. Perfect for a cracking pint and the atmosphere of the busy area of new cross and deptford

Went back again for the first time since 2015. Atmosphere still fantastic choice and quality of beer cannot be faulted and the best pork ribs Ive ate since the last time I ate there in 2015. Proper English pub cannot fault it wlll be back as long as I am in the area.

Just a cool bar in Deptford. Good music, cool vibe, decent beer (eight ales, several crafts and several lagers). Dimly lit, lots of seating, 20-35 crowd, food, outdoor seating, generally great bar.

Nice enough as a pub. Food is very hit and miss. Not sure the chef tastes the food before it goes out. Had a very anaemic flavourless Irish stew and almost sour black bean Mexican stew in the last couple of months. Good ribs mind. I 'want' to like the food.

Just returned from the Albert and had to voice my praise for a really good meal. Had the Welsh Black Char-grilled Bavette steak which was cooked (and rested) perfectly. Nice to see some hand cut and odd shaped chips as opposed to the regimented symmetrically shaped or instant freezer variety.

Service from the staff was spot on - honest, upfront, unfussy and unhurried - just how I would expect to be treated, thank you to both chefs and Charlie.

Enjoyed an ice cream dessert which included the Black Coconut flavour... something I had never had before. Delicious. Overall meal was tasty, well cooked and very good value for money.

Will be back (as working in the area) next week.

Many thanks, Terry.

Currently in the process of moving flat, this is my local and I really don't want to move too far away from it as I need to be able to stumble home on a Friday night.
It's not too cold in there, put some clothes on Biff.
Their food is Amazing, and their burger is better than the Jamie Oliver's down the road in Greenwich. Good selection of beers and cider which they mix up regularly to keep us on our toes. Some of the beers are pricey but it is London, everywhere is pricey. Also I always enjoy a drunken bop between the hours of 10pm - 1am on a Friday and Saturday night.
The music is always different but usually they insert something in there for everyone to get off the sofa and have a dance around the living room style pub.

If only I could be left to enjoy all my Sunday nights here. All of them. Live music every Sunday, ecclectic mix of artists. We havent tried the food here but its always busy each time we are here. Advice: arrive well before the set and grab a seat because it gets really jammed.
A range of drinks available too, and as a stout drinker Im glad to have more than just Guiness as an option. This is my go-to live music place.

Great vibe and wide selection of beers. A few interesting ones on tap which I haven't seen at many other places. Sunday music nights are top notch and go on pretty late. Great vibe all year round, but especially in the summer when the outer section really opens the pub out making it pretty inviting when walking past

Went on a fairly busy Friday night. Friendly staff, DJ had the music to an ambient level, and a good selection. The real stand-out, as with Antic pubs was the food. A tad pricey, given the location, but tasted sublime.

Pub looks rundown but service is good as is the vibe. Great little local and I hear the Sunday roasts are good. Haven't tried them myself but totally plan to after all those good reviews.

A great pub with a lived in feeling. Great selection of beers and other drinky things to try! Lovely staff, chillaxed music, all round a good bit of fun. Food menu looks interesting and varied, good for both the vegetarian and the carnivore among us. A most pleasant visit, come along and enjoy.

Cosy athmosphere...i d rather say; boring!(Especially, if you were in birds nest before)
Young people sitting well behaved on their tables, chattering, drown out the music. Friendly staff.

Nice chilled place, great decor with lots of original pub fittings mixed with vintage comfy chairs and sofas. Great selection of beers & sprits. Really good menu catering for all dietary requirements. Large outdoor eating/drinking area. They have some small tv s and showed the tennis when we were in, not sure if they offer other sports??
