Great food , great setup, and friendly service. Before going I was told the prices are high, after I went I found out the prices aren't bad, especially in comparison to the meals. Definitely going back soon!

Awesome setting, meat was tasty and for a large party everyone got how they asked for it albeit a little tough but that's the cows fault not the chef...salad and soup was bangin, all in all very nice experience
I seriously can't recommend this place enough. From the moment we peaked through the windows and saw stylish bar, to the next when we walked into the lobby and were swept off our feet by the breathtaking design, we had our hopes set high. Luckily, the brilliant female bartender/server kept our needs met and questions answered. Finally and ultimately, the food was a fantastic experience! Flexible with dietary needs and full of flavor. As a terrific bonus, the restaurant manager took us out onto the patio to see the beatiful water fall and gave us a brief history of the building, and the loving family that runs the operation. This was one dinner we won't forget! Thanks for the perfect experience!
Food was fine and priced typically for the area. We ate in the lounge on a weeknight and were the only diners there for most of our meal. The room has great views.
Very nice location in Beacon with a waterfall view. The food is extremely good, reasonably priced and the service is excellent. They just have to improve the unmovable patio umbrellas so that they can adapt to the summer sun's movement over the outside seating area. Other than that, no issues.
We didn't stay in the hotel, but dined in the outdoor restaurant. It was very well managed, enforcing ample social distancing between guests, masks and other good practices. Loved the view of the waterfalls and enjoyed our meal. The shishito peppers were nicely seasoned and cooked well on cast iron, the duck confit buns were delicious. My bf and I shared the chicken sandwich + burger (is it obvious we were v hungry from hiking?). The cocktails were also delicious (blackberry sangria!) and service was friendly-professional.
Overall: Service is sub-par (we had to ask for everything, including water and food/drinks that had been forgotten multiple times) BUT the food is yummy and inventive and the atmosphere is great. It became a joke how absent minded the service was as our meal went on... They really need to figure out their inefficiencies. Seems unorganized, disjointed and forgetful. Everyone was nice and apologetic when they realized they had forgotten, but those apologies felt shallow because they continued to forget orders and water refills and basic waiting staff manners through the meal. It was comical. Go there for the food and view, not expecting an attentive or graceful staff
Hotel looks nice from the outside. The town has a calm quiet feel. The room has some nice amenities such as a safe, fridge with a minibar, a keurig and a tv. The ac worked well but there was black mold in the ac vent room 202. The front desk did not have a solution other than to say that it would be fixed once we checked out. They didn't seem concerned strangely. Overall not the best experience for the price.
We go out of our way to stop in beacon falls, and when we do, roundhouse is our favorite place to stay. Katie, who checked us in, was friendly and very accomodating as we were celebrating an anniversary. I can't recommend this place enough, especially the penthouse suite which has gorgeous lofted ceilings and a private deck with a perfect view of the lit falls. We are already planning more trips at the roundhouse.
We have also been to the restaurant. The staff is attentive, and food good. A little pricey for what you can get in the area, but you are also paying for the amazing views, which are second to none.
Monday night special is stupendous. Start with a salad. Then a choice of pasta, fish or chicken with potatoes and two vegetables. And then dessert. Everything was prepared excellently and served piping hot. All the servers were efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Cost? 22 smackeroos. That's it. Of course tax, tip and alcohol are additional. Even the alcohol prices were extremely reasonable. Great beer selection. Try the Smart beer.
Walked in at 4:58 with a 5:30 reservation. The entire dining room was empty. Not even more than 4 people at the bar. Asked what time they opened they said 5:00. We then asked to move our reservation to 5:00, she said no problem! We stood there for the next 20 minutes or so and no one else waiting to be seated.... we weren t addressed with any update after that at all. We never even got to sit down. 20+ minute wait, for literally nothing. We left. Enjoy your empty dining room on a Friday night.
Service was fantastic, but the food was Ok. Had a a risotto that was undercooked along with having to send back a HORRIBLE Old Fashioned. Steak was stellar though , which made this meal enjoyable. Patio is a gorgeous view of the river.
Beacon is a great town. Dia is definitely worth a visit.
Hotel is a different story. At almost $500 per night, I expect something very different:
- when we first walked in our room, we were welcome by the sound of a flushing toilet that a cleaning staff member was using with the door open (she had no cleaning products and left the room very embarrassed)
- we tried calling the front desk a few times over probably 2 hrs. We only got through when we called from our mobile..
- when we asked for recommendation for a massage, we were told to google it
- when we left our room to go on a hike, we asked if our room could be cleaned in the next 2.5hrs. Was not done. I went back to the front desk and asked and was told they would send someone up right away. 2.5hrs later and still not done and of course, no answer at reception.
- finally, not a big deal but you can't order movies
Beautiful place, food is fantastic, service is great . The view is absolutely breath taking. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone. If you enjoy great food this is the place !!!
Great outdoor bar.... Not the best experience this time around.
Went in for a late lunch and some drinks with my girlfriend on Sunday afternoon. As soon as we arrived the lady taking reservations outside for seating was kind of rude telling us that we needed to stand 6 ft apart...we came together and pretty much live together so I'm not sure why that was relevant to us. About 2 minutes later another guy came over and gave a 3 minute lecture about sitting outside and that once we where seated we could not be moved...OK, whatever! We sit down and order drinks which honestly where very good! We order an appetizer and it was ok so we ordered another drink and thought about dinner...while we waited for some friends. After a few minutes the same people that gave us a hard time about standing 6 feet apart and not being able to move our seats are literally making every exception in the world to move the people sitting next to us that where really rude. After they moved them and paid for there appetizer, about 10 minutes later the guy that gives the seating speech goes and pays for the entire meal!
My issue is that if your going to make people feel uncomfortable and unwelcome within 5 minutes of them arriving by barking out the 6 ft rule to a couple and then giving them a speech about seating don't go and do the opposite when someone else complains and comp an entire meal! If you are going to go to the extreme of comping an entire meal do it quietly so that the other patrons aren't aware.
Ended up leaving and meeting 2 other couples that where supposed to meet us somewhere else and had a great dinner with great drinks.
Hotel not worth the high rates. Parking was far from our room - - across the street, and across four separate sets of steps ( three sets outside). Room furnishings are cheap. Only place to sit is a small plastic desk chair. Zero counter space in bathroom. Tiny two-drawer dresser. Very small TV. Bed resembles a futon. The Roadhouse is an expensive hotel with low rent features behind a hipster facade.
Can t remember a worse service experience. The hostess had no clue about what was happening. Waited an extra half hour beyond our reservation to get a window table only to have the hostess forget about us. The wait staff were more interested in chatting with each other than serving. When I asked if there was a sommelier I was sent a server who had no idea about the wine list and couldn t even make a suggestion for a specific wine. The food was ok but there are too many other better food options in town.
Wonderful views of the falls. The food was great. Large portions and very reasonably priced. We split two dished. One hamburger and one lobster roll both with a large pile of fries. I highly recommend this place. - Bill form the midwest
We attended the wedding of our son here and stayed in the hotel on the wedding night. The wedding was excellent right down to the smallest detail. The planner, a young lady named Cary was always nearby to guide us. She was "Johnny on the Spot" when a spill occurred on the dance floor. Before I could blink she was there with the cleanup crew. The hotel is series of re purposed factory buildings just beautifully done with a waterfall and rapids running through the property. Kudos to my son and his new wife on the choice of a wedding venue.
Anne was the best person in the world and put us at ease while we ate indoors. It was our first venture eating at a restaurant since February and I couldn't have chosen a better place. Also, the food and drinks were impeccable. French 75 was superb.
Beatiful Restaurant on the Fishkill Creek with the falls and Mt Beacon in the background. Awesome food , Patio bar. What more could you ask for on a beautiful summer's day. You really have to check this place out.
This is just for the restaurant. The view is priceless, of course, but food and service were below expectation. The host on July 26 in the afternoon was deliberately obstinate and oblique in his communication (how difficult is it to explain that patio seating is reserved for brunch only?) Staff need to be trained better to not mix up orders and not spill tea on the way to the table. Dessert is tepid and frankly underwhelming. Lavender lemonade is lemon concentrate. Somewhat unbecoming.
Upscale facility in an old mill with an outside bar overlooking a waterfall. On site restaurant and hotel rooms available. Pricey but nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
Location is great, overlooks a great waterfalls and having drinks and dinner with that rolling water in background is very soothing.Although considering it wasn't very busy, service was sub par.Food was excellent came with good presentation too. Not cheap but not overt priced. Typical of today's new trendy upscale eateries.
I love the trend of finding good food in the Hudson Valley as NYC chefs open more places out of the city. This is a beautiful spot overlooking the man made waterfall of the mill that was here before The Roundhouse. We used to visit Beacon and drive past the mill years ago wondering what would become of it. They've done a beautiful job developing the space. We were here in the summer so we got to sit outside for brunch. The interior space of the restaurant is modern, but warm with lots of windows. The service was attentive and efficient. We especially liked the lobster mac and cheese.
Okay so everyone talks about how slow the service is ..... Maybe we need to take some time to slow down and listen to the falls .... We went on a weds and it was fairly empty ... The server was polite but he was " slow" ... However I think I prefer the slow service over being rushed .. Just my preference ... The fried artichoke app was delish .. A little too much aioli on the plate but very good .... Now on to the main dish ... Braised short ribs.... Absolutely wonderfully prepared ! As tender as can be and very flavorful .. I would definitely go back and take my time enjoying the falls!
Went for birthday lunch, dishes came out missing half the items described on the menu. eg. was supposed to get to get eggs on English muffin with fries. Eggs and bacon came out with no fries, no English muffin - these were not add-ons! They were a part of the dish description! Coffee was awful. The atmosphere is really lovely but unfortunately not in line with the food. Two stars as the cocktails were great!
This is a nice restaurant though pricer than other places in Beacon (it's worth it). I really like it and it's where I consistently take family and friends who are visiting. The food is excellent. Beware, the drinks are very strong. ;) The view, of the rather iconic Beacon waterfall is quite lovely too. highly recommended.
This is a review for the restaurant - the Smoke on the Water BBQ pop-up on one of the patios of the Roundhouse. The food is excellent, lots of options cooked fresh on site and vegetable-driven side dishes. The safety precautions for COVID made us feel very comfortable (masks when not at your table, contactless hand soap and dryers in the restrooms, compostable plates and cutlery, etc.) and the servers and hostess were super friendly. It's a great option for outdoor dining during the summer! We will return.
I was among a table of 10 at the Roundhouse (inside), the food was exceptional, and the space was fantastic as well. Our waitress, Brea, unsure how to spell that sadly (should have asked) was simply amazing, truly one of the best servers I've ever had in all my travels. Would go back in a heartbeat if in the area again.
The food was really good My party got the lobster mac and cheese, chicken, and crab cakes which were very tasty and well seasoned.
I am giving this place a two star rating because the environment was not optimal for dining. We sat outdoors next to the waterfall and within ten minutes, my legs were being swarmed by Mosquitos. This typically does not warrant two stars for me but my interaction with the servers gave us the vibe that they were well aware of this issue and were indifferent to it. If you go late summer, please stay indoors. Do not be like me and leave with over two dozen mosquito bites
Awesome historical location, stayed in the Mill and the room was very interesting -- exposed brick wall and modern amenities combined. Location was in close proximity to stores, main street Beacon and restaurants.
I would have given it five stars. The overnight stay, dinner, drinks we're all incredible! The breakfast buffet however, could really use a good redo..
Very rustic hotel room in a great location of Beacon. Within walking distance of everything in Beacon. The rooms were nice, but not worth $300 night. Breakfast was great but is only offered from 8AM - 10AM. Service was mediocre and we never really had a hot shower. The water came out lukewarm and when we asked for maintenance to come it really never got much better.
The Roundhouse is suppose to have it all.. They have the best spot in town. Great view over the fall, but sadly, the food and service falls short. I can only describe the food as average, but a bit pricey for what you are paying for. If you are charging a certain price, it better be something I can't make at home. Lastly, service was a mess. We had 2 servers at time, and none when we needed them. Very eager to take away our dirty silverware, but never remember to bring us replacement. Waited 5 minutes before we got up and found spoons for our dessert. 15 before we can ask for check. Funny the managers seems to doing rounds, but can't spot these obvious problems... A bit disappointed. Hope they can improve on next visit.
Outstanding property walking distance from a row of retail businesses. Best complimentary breakfast. Lit waterfalls on the grounds with overlook seating perfect for a moment of peace. Staff is personable and relaxed. Far from the cold feel of chain hotels but not artificially friendly.
We had a great meal here - the duck was excellent. It's a cool converted industrial space with huge glass windows that look out on what used to be a mill pond. They backlit the waterfall that provided power to the mill, which adds a nice effect. They also had a really nice outdoor space.
Wonderful hotel and delicious restaurant. Enjoyed view of waterfall. Nice staff. Update three years later - restaurant woefully understaffed. One waitress and one bartender doing it all. They do not even have a table busser. Did not refill water until meal was over. No bread or amuse bouche or anything. I expect better from an upscale restaurant. Dinner was still delicious. Sorry I have to now knock them down to four stars. Hotel rooms still great.
The food was normal, but the meals were too overrated. I ordered the octopus dish for $15, and the meal only came with four peices. My colleague ordered a steak that was extremely "dull" but still had to pay $26. When the bill came, I was very surprised.
Great food - stunning location. The drinks were balanced and fresh - perfect for summer. The service was very friendly and attentive. Food is good and tasted great after a hike. Highly recommend for couples and families.
Food was fine, but massively overpriced. There's a nice view of the water, which you can enjoy while you wait (and wait, and wait) for the very slow service.
Great service and very helpful staff, the staff in restaurant was very good, nice and friendly as well, Stayed with my son couple of nights and without doubt I will repeat the stay if I need in future to come back
To be fair, this place looked beautiful. We just had the worst service imaginable. The host was rude (almost mean?) when I made my reservation with a two hour wait. He made me feel stupid for asking basic questions and when we returned for our table after all that time was still sarcastic and cold. Tried to seat us in a hallway with high traffic before we just gave up and got tacos down the street. Not the night we imagined, but you just have to roll with it sometimes. No reservations were allowed, so good luck to whoever tries to go here.
Pretentious fare-- expensive with little substance and small portions. Salmon was under-cooked. Beet salad was yummy but sparse for the price. A miserly 6 oz glass of cider...? Redeeming quality is the view of the falls. Patio staff does not communicate with inside hostess. Servers were over-tasked but efficient and kind.
