The Ritz Carlton, Pentagon City Review

Great location that is connected to Pentagon Mall in Arlington VA. Few minutes to Washington DC. Awesome service. Spacious rooms, clean and cozy. The staff and friendly and very helpful. Parking is an issue through. You pay $49 per night for valet parking or you can park in the mall parking and you would pay every time you go in and out. Plus you will $18 over night for the mall parking. That s why I gave it 4 stars. Other than that it is amazing.

Very nice hotel. Right now I across from the metro and by the mall. Big rooms with robes and a nice tv.

Nice place, had an event there so I can't comment on the rooms or anything, but venue was nice, restrooms were nice, it's convenient to a number of other places and the metro, so all in all solid. It's a Ritz, they earned their reputation.

Every single employee was incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was wonderful and we would definitely return for a stay!

I had access to the lobby and a small conference room, both were lovely and met my needs

Stayed here for my wedding weekend with my husband. Our events were taking place in Northern VA, so we opted to stay here rather than a "nicer" hotel in DC, as we thought it was a nice balance of being close to our venue and family that came into town, and treating ourselves a little bit.
The experience was entirely subpar and in retrospect, we would have just stayed closer to family and paid half the price. We just assumed we would get service that would be in line with the Ritz-Carlton name. Some of the issues we encountered were - an average 2-3 star equivalent room, no fridge and after requesting one a dingy, old one was brought and placed in the middle of our room, one dirty robe out of two (black smears on the front), and a few other small things that you would think we wouldn't encounter at a Ritz.
I reached out to give them feedback, and was told it had been forwarded to the General Manager and never heard from them again. I see from looking at the reviews now that all of the comments to bad reviews have a generic response that basically says please come back again and we hope your experience is better (spend more money on a subpar experience?) - leading me to believe they aren't actually trying to fix any of the issues mentioned and are solely relying on their brand name for reservations.

Typical Ritz and very nice, but starting to get a little worn.

I didn't stay here as I'm local but we did just hold our National Guard Youth Challenge Program Workshop there this week. The conference rooms were well appointed, although occasionally chilly, and the prices were reasonable for this upscale venue. The coffee and food was wonderful and the comped valet parking for the coordinator and staff was a lifesaver. We chose this hotel for the convenience and surprisingly found value and customer service too.

Great location. Staff and services were excellent and would stay there again. Note that parking is expenses and becomes a pain going in/out.

I only walked through while visiting the mall on a lunch break. The only reason it does not receive a higher score is the mall is very busy and leaks into the hotel because they are connected.

For a hotel under the brand Ritz-Carlton quite poor experience.

Go to place for special events. Christmas morning brunch even. Staff very attentive. Good brunch choices.

Talk about service! This place really treats you well. Large, clean rooms and conveniently located next to a mall and the Metro with easy access to downtown.

I have nothing but good things to say about this Hotel. As a Marriot Reward Gold member I'm not entitled to get complimentary access to the Hotel lounge... Obviously I tried to ask at the Front desk hoping to get lucky and... didn't got the lounge access but I got free made to order breakfast and it was so good. One of the best breakfast I had in my life with fresh ingredients. Thanks to Michael Lester who made that possible !! Oustanding customer service demostrated by Michael... Definitely will stay again in this property ! A+++++

Beautiful hotel and great service provided by wonderful staff!

The hotel is directly connected to the Pentagon Mall, which is a nice benefit. I attended a conference at the property, so I only experienced the meeting space. The table linen that was used was too long and caused myself and others to trip over it more than once. Overall, the property was clean and the employees were more-or-less friendly and helpful.

My wife and I ate at Fyve with a last minute reservation. The staff was very polite, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was good. We enjoyed ourselves, and it was quiet enough for conversation without being too quiet. It's a pricey, but that's to be expected at a hotel like the Ritz.

Discrepancies with billing but front desk rectified it without an issue.

Much nicer than most local hotels. The construction at the entrance does make entry a little difficult, but not overwhelmingly so. Staff was friendly. Rooms were clean.

Room was comfy. Everything was nice. The only gripe I had is the cost of parking at the hotel ($39.00). If you don't mind walking a little, you can possibly park at the mall that is connected to the hotel but I don't know if they allow overnight. Other than that, I have to day the staff was VERY accommodating and professional.

It's okay nothing more. Doesn't feel like a luxury hotel. There was nothing special about the room and there are no views from this hotel. The only advantage, he said it's next to the mall.

I have stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City many times because it is a distinguished luxury hotel that offers a plethora of amenities. Situated next to the Pentagon, you have indoor access to the Pentagon City Metro station from the hotel which is just a few stops from downtown D.C. and the Reagan National Airport. Another valuable advantage is the direct access to The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City which offers more than 250 dining and shopping options.

If you are a Ritz Carlton fan then stay away from this property

All I can say is I never stayed at one of their properties that didn t have a separate shower

I know that might sound strange but I hate bathtub shower combos and one of the reasons I stay at the Ritz properties is because of their bathrooms and the separate shower stall

Four Seasons, Pennisula, Trump, Langham etc
And I thought the Ritz

In fact I will not stay at a property of any hotel chain if they don t have a separate shower

Love the Motel 6 shower bath combo with rust from the handle in the shower on the white marble
And the rust stains on the white marble around the sink

Room smelled of mold and mildew

Called the front desk for a different room and they never called me back

Too bad I can t post the pics of this property

Tired to get a drink in the bar but all the tables were dirty with empty food plates and empty drink glasses

Live music at the hotel bar was a great addition to the hotel. Many dining options nearby.

Bath tub was clogged, No pool, went to the gym half of the machines were broken, Steam bath was not available, no breakfast, No view from the window ( was literally looking at the roof of the building next door, we could only see fire works from the reflection of puddles) even after paying over 200 per night, giving two stars just because of the behavior of the staff, they did a phenomenal job.

It's a great location with easy access to the metro. Fantastic staff & great rooms.

The venue is a great place for professional events and the lunch catering is great.

Great food, nice ballrooms. I will say the public restrooms are not very handicapped accessible. Also, a few too many chandeliers for my taste.

Staff very helpful. Rooms were nice. Beds were a little high for me to climb into, but I did manage. Breakfast was served promptly. Wait staff were very friendly and anticipated the desire for that next cup of coffee.

Very quiet and comfortable, but had to find reasonable parking myself (at mall). Wanted to charge $150 per day to Platinum members for access to concierge lounge. Convenient location.

I don't typically stay at luxury hotels, but I was traveling for work. This place was fabulous. Very attentive staff, great rooms and amenities, a step away from the subway, and a good location near the airport and downtown DC. Wonderful!

Hotel was nice and rooms were clean. In-service hotel was very good and employees were attentive to the guests, however, the valet personnel were not. When it was time for me to leave (5am in the morning with no one but me), the valet pulled up to the car and left without even talking to me. I just packed the luggage myself and left.

All around great place to stay especially having Pentagon City Mall attached right to it.

Upscale yet casual atmosphere. Staff was super nice, food was great and the drinks were amazing!

What an amazing experience from the doorman to the front desk staff to the concierge to the housekeeper who swapped out my feather pillows. I felt very pampered and cared for. The food at my conference was as delicious as any 5 star restaurant.

Visited for a girls weekend and it was great. It s attached to the mall with Starbucks. Room service is prompt and yummy. On site restaurants and very close to the metro

Service and facilities have been excellent for conference at the Ritz-Carlton. I can't comment on other aspects of the hotel as I did not use them.

A little tired and service has declined over the past few years. What happened to turndown service with chocolates. Needs a facelift. Ridiculous the Ritz doesn't recognize Marriott member status. It's nothing special

I've stayed here several times and the service has always been Top Notch. The accommodations are beautiful and clean of course it's a Ritz! Food and beverage always good and it's very very close as in just across the hall and down to a huge shopping area.

Always have a lovely stay at this property. The service is too notch and the rooms are so comfortable. The hotel pumps a scent throughout the property that smells so wonderful, makes you feel at ease. The hotel bar and restaurant are a bit pricey, but nice options. Love the surrounding area, the mall, stores, restaurants, including the metro stop right in front. Makes the area so convenient.

Rooms are excellent service is superb. Connection to mall us convenient as is location. Top tier sauna, gym, and pool as well as all other ammentities.

we love going to this location for Sunday Bruch. The service, price and quality of the food is outstanding and the staff are very friendly. They almost cater to you needs, whatever it is. I would highly recommend them in all levels. Outstanding!!

When I think of the experience the song Be Our Guest from the Beauty and the Beast movie comes to mind. The staff was very welcoming. Eager to help. The place itself is lovely. The floors that I were on was very clean and well taken care of. Although there is little to no place to park the valet was $45 a day. The friendly service made it worth it.

Great Hotel located immediately behind the Pentagon City Meto station. Neighbors the Fashion Centre Mall, a four story mall with a multitude of shopping and dining experiences. Less than 5 minutes from Arlington National Cemetery and the Pentagon. Valet parking.

I had an absolutely lovely stay this past weekend at the Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City for a holiday party. Every staff member I encountered was so pleasant and very helpful. The catering team was amazing and everything I tried was delicious. Big plus at the end of the evening was the 24HR room service!!! Even the gentlemen at 3am were chipper and friendly! My friend and I thank you. You were our french fry god! Any moment we were in the room we lived in the fluffy white robes. The bed was like a cloud and I can't wait to stay again!

I had a great time ah their Fathers Day Brunch with my family. Excellent service, good food, and fun family activities!

We spoke with the front desk personnel and wrote management about a few concerns we had; discrepancy with booking, and a few other things. This was a result of a stay a few weeks ago.

A few days after our visit, I received an email from a manager who asked me to call her. I called her, and also sent her an email with my contact information. The manager stated that she wanted to learn more about what happened. My thinking was this would be merely be an opportunity to give feedback. (I have used Ritz Carlton properties for business but my recent mediocre experience was with my family).

The manager never called back.

I emailed her and explained that I am available to chat, but she ignored me. Did not reply to my email, nor did she call back. In fact, no one - even if she was unavailable - took ownership here and followed up.

In a previous review, I wrote about that I felt that the Ritz-Carlton may be addicted to their brand, and this near-elitism attitude towards business customers and others is unacceptable, unethical and could drive good customers away. (just because the feedback isn't consistent with your standards doesn't mean you ignore your clients; it is an opportunity to do better)

My recommendation is that you push them to do better. If you get your confirmation, call and reconfirm. Work with management up 1-2 levels instead of the property folks on site when you have concerns.

There are other hotel chains who have raised the bar and they are challenging the status quote. They are not afraid to lead.

Service is great, friendly staff. Did have an issue with internet and a dirty spoon left in our room upon check in, but it was taken care of. Conveniently located right off the metro stop and attached to the mall.

Everyone is so courteous and knows your name. They really strive to make sure you enjoy your stay and find where you need to go.

Very racist establishment. Concierge was quite rude for no reason and was unapologetic about it.

Customer service was top-notch, however I was surprised that they put a used shampoo bottle out as if it was brand new. The bottle was just about empty. I know companies are cutting expenses where they can, but at least leave enough in the bottle for one usage.

The atmosphere was lovely, the valet staff was friendly however, the bar did not have anything that I wanted to order from the menu. I ended up leaving and going to Champps down the street.

The stay was great, but the towels were a little too small for my taste.

AS OF 18 DECEMBER 2019 : Ritz-Carlton located at Pentagon City is not Pet Friendly even though if searched, it pops up as Pet Friendly. They only allow service animals. Will Cancel my reservation.

Went to opentext workshop at the Carlton. Great host for a technical event. Awesome lunch buffet and drinks during the event!
