Zoos are always cool. I like that you can walk up the mountain a little bit and see the goat type stuff up there. The monkey area is cool, especially if you go when the monkies are down swinging around.

It's an OKAY zoo, not too many friendly staff members, not a lot of exhibits or cafes. High prices, hardly saw any animals you can tell they are unhappy it was sad to see actually. The Kansas City Zoo is much better but on the plus side there was free parking and I got SO much exercise.

My kids are really enjoy this Zoo. They have to splash pads that are awesome for little ones. And there is plenty of shade as you walk. It's a very relaxing environment. The exhibits they have are usually up to par.

Wasn't a bad visit aside from the parking lot attendant that turned my wife away and made her find off site parking (lying) , saying they were at 100% capacity despite there being 3 dozen open spots next to me where I was waiting for her in the back of the parking lot. So our five minor children had to walk an unnecessary 2 miles to get to see zoo lights.

Finally got an opt to come back to the zoo with my son since our first visit with him after he was born. He was wonderful to see his eyes light up over all the animals. I wish there had been more animals out and about it seemed as tho a lot of them were either hiding or closed exhibits. I bought a membership so I hope this isn't a long term thing. Note, while this pandemic is going on, bring a face mask for the lil ones. My son is 2 and he won't wear a mask and it hasn't been enforced for his age anywhere however the zoo requires that you have one for them on hand. Headed back today with all the kids (4), mom, mother in law, and niece.

The Phoenix zoo is a lot of fun. Just don't go during the summer, it can get especially hot and there is very little shade here.
The new tiger habitat is pretty awesome. Also, be sure to check out the Andean bears.

Continue to allow animal rights groups to solicit on zoo property. This group is sponsored by the HSUS and doesnt based its inititives on any facts or science. The zoo is a science based organization but yet allows these radicals to spread their propaganda.

We have a good time bringing our infant here. Members can get in an hour before opening which is nice, especially when the weather is perfect and it becomes a zoo. They have a couple of splash pads which is a lot of fun and we've heard the money zone is great. They are always making improvements and it's great to see how it changes. Great for families. Membership is definitely worth it.

This is a great zoo. We went on a weekday, and it was not crowded at all. The animals are in natural habitats, and you get to view them up close. The giraffes were my sons favorite, but we also loved the giant turtles. It s a great spot to take the kids.

Oh my gosh, I loved visiting this place. I'd only ever been to small zoos before, and while I love those, this place is in another league. Be far, my absolute favorite things were the bird exhibits. If you can whistle at all, try mimicking some of the birds. Many will talk back, and that's fantastic. I can't remember what kind of bird it was, but I spent 5 minutes whistling back and forth with a little black bird. He either thought I was a fascinating creature or an incredibly stupid bird, but either way it was a fantastic experience.

I'll definitely visit again when I'm next in Phoenix. Hopefully the birds are up for another conversation.

I really like the zoo. I am not sure why people complain about the food their? Its a Zoo not a a steakhouse. The food is decent. I do wish they had a cool aquarium there. If they had that I would have no complaints of the place. Its not the best zoo on the world but then again we live in AZ and we cant have the foliage as San Diego. The petting zoo would also be nicer if they had some other animals to pet.

We took the family out for 4 hours today. Beautiful day in April. Some of the animals were pretty active. We did about half of the zoo. The dinosaur exhibit is well worth the extra $5 to see. The tropical walk is pretty cool and well shaded. The zoo is a good value for the money.

Phoenix zoo is a great place for the kids to blow off some steam and see all the animals Phoenix zoo has, we have fun everytime we go, but being from Omaha, Nebraska, I have been spoiled by the #1 zoo in the United States that has an aquarium and butterfly exhibit and has a couple more acres than Phoenix zoo does. All of this wouldn't make a difference if the prices of Phoenix zoo weren't double what I spent back home. Zoo Season Passes in Phoenix are $430, in Omaha its $175.

This zoo is amazing. Went on a day when it was over a 100, so was a little rough but still spent the entire day there. It wasn't busy at all which was a little sad as this place is truly incredible. One of my favorite zoos I've ever been to. Didn't plan to visit but so glad I did. If I lived there I would go far more often.

The zoo is always a great place to go! They have a lot of exhibits that contain many different animals and the areas are all really big. Like many other reviewers are saying, in the summer is not the best time to go. Not only are you in Arizona and it's crazy hot outside but the animals also get hot and prefer to lay in the shade rather than roam around. So, the experience could not be as fun as it would be in cooler weather. However, when they have the zoo lights in the winter it is gorgeous. The zoo does close earlier when zoo lights happen though.

It's always fun going to the Phoenix zoo. The zoo is large so you can take different trails and see different animals which helps mix it up. The membership option is great especially for families with kids. The membership fee pays for itself in about 2 visits! Highly recommended to come check out the zoo!

I love the place but the problem is that I went recently and I didn't really get to see any of the animals on display they weren't there or they were hiding. It kind of sucks having to walk around in the heat and not see anything.

Literally half of the animals were not there. At one point I spent 20 minutes walking without seeing an animal. Any area that did have animals only had one, sometimes two. The most interesting animals weren't even there. Enjoyable walk, made less by the agitation of not getting to see anything.

Edit: one year later, came here again and still exactly the same lol.

We just bought the annual pass membership thing. It's a great place to go when the weather isn't in the triple digits, so we go more in the "winter"
Definitely bring a stroller or wagon flr the young ones.

A big zoo compared to many of the other states that I've visited. The parking is terrible, I got there before they opened and got one of the last spots that was available in the front of the zoo. Otherwise parking could be almost a mile away. The price is very high compared to other states, $24.95 per adult..whew! Plus if you want to see the bug exhibit it's another $5.00. Not sure if I would pay to come again, kinda ridiculous.

We love the Phoenix zoo. With members being able to get in an hour early it is a lifesaver especially in the summer months. Get there early with the kids and have them burn off some energy in the splash pad before the day gets too hot. My favorite experience at the zoo was over the summer when we got to see the baby flamingos going on there walk. It was the best!

Wonderful zoo, very large enclosures for most animals, which is great. Loved the new virtual reality short film attraction, it was fun! Not a fan of the Big Bigs exhibit, alot of real estate with not much Wow factor. Could be better purposed area. I miss Hazel....
