Quite a few zip exhibits were off display and it got crowded in a hurry
This zoo is such a great place. Young and old, day or night, every season of the year there is ALWAYS a reason to visit the Phoenix ZOO!!! They have so many opportunities to learn including SLEEPOVERS for school kids. Parents, don't despair, there are evening events 21 and older. Year round this is a great place to celebrate, stroll, enjoy! EVERYONE who works at the zoo is always smiling or laughing...I think we could all benefit from spending time with furry, feathered, scaly and unique new friends!
Hardly any animals...only one of each in some areas..and if they are not out then you get nothing.
Came to see the Zoo Lights. The Big Bugs exhibit was cool and only $5. Didnt stay as long as I would have because it staryed raining. Looking forward to going again next time when it's not raining.
Excellent place to distract your mine with your family and friend
I love going to the zoo! My girls always have a fun time. Clean zoo!
A super fun day out, lots of walking so bring a stroller for little ones.
There is also a splash pad, and a petting zoo.
So many amazing animals, rhinos, emus, monkeys, goats, jaguar, lions, tigers and my favourite the organutan.
Children can learn so much.
Accessible toilets, and family toilets also there.
Also Starbucks!
The food is a bit expensive for what it is. But you'll definitely have a fun day out at the zoo
The zoo is fully paved and easily accessible with a stroller, wagon, or wheelchair. The animals are all in habitat displays and not cages. Several displays have a mix of animals that would normally interact in the wild. This is by far the best zoo in Arizona.
This zoo was my childhood. Like my family would go here and we would have a great time together.
I love the improvements made to the elephants exhibit. You're at eye level now so the Vista is much better.
Visited for the zoo lights on Thursday which were amazing. They obviously put a huge effort into this event. The kids wanted to visit the next day to see the animals. That visit was a bit disappointing - several animals off exhibit and most of the snack places were closed. It's clear that they put their resources into the evening event. I've been previously and the zoo experience was better.
Waste of money. There's about 50 ft of lights (including the bridge you walk down to the entrance) then about 1/4 mile of a dark, closed zoo
One of the best zoos I have ever been to, and I have been to a lot of zoos. The monkey village is absolutely amazing. The only reason they don't get 5* is because they try to upsell way too hard. I am a member and I go frequently as a cheap way to walk around and get exercise. That I have to spend $2 to even get a good look at the manta rays is absolutely ridiculous. Overall, it is a great zoo that is managed by someone too driven by profits.
Really enjoyed the day have to go early when the animals are out and about
Zoo lights was a very nice experience. Disappointed a bit for not being able to see at least reptiles.
It's my first time at Phoenix Zoo. It was fantastic. We purchased a value package which include the train ride, movie, stingray bay, etc. There are several food snacks bars inside the zoo. So, no need to bring food. However, if people want to bring their food, there is a huge covered dining area with tables and chairs for families to enjoy meals. Also, the zoo offers stroller rental. Lastly, the zoo offers discount for EBT card holders (on Sunday only). We definitely recommend Phoenix Zoo and will come back soon.
Went to see Zoo Lights. It was really fun and interesting. Would recommend. Great family outing.
Loving the Zoo Lights. My Daughters enjoying every moment
It's a bit expensive and you can see half of what they have less you pay more money everything in not included in general admission
Went with father/wife/daughter who was 1.5 years old. Amazing place compared to our Milwaukee zoo.
Walked through the whole thing and was only able to see a handful of animals. A lot of them were away for differing reasons(sick, checkups, etc) and were unavailable. Others were too far away into the enclosure and with only 1 view point/angle to see them with, there was no other chance of being able to see them. The space is big but that may be a disadvantage considering you dont really get to see the animals from up close. To be honest, the Tucson Zoo was a better experience than this. Perhaps I just went on an off day. I would suggest calling ahead of time and asking about around what times the animals are most active and what animals are ACTUALLY on display. This will ensure that you get the most from the experience. I'd probably give it another shot and come back later and plan ahead to be able to see ALL the animals.
If you go to visit be ready to spend some cash and some animals look like they were starving
If you've got the season pass it's totally worth it. Be sure to pack sunscreen, drinks, snacks, and wear trail-worthy shoes :)
How much fun is this place. Large enough to make a day,of,it. Animals look to,be well tended and healthy.
Great place for any age. Holiday zoo lights are a very nice night out for whole family. Lots of photo spots.
For sure on our next trip we will visit this beautiful attraction
Recently became zoo members again, I haven't been in about 10 years. I bought the two adults and 5 children package for $179. I then went online and bought two zoo lights member pricing ticket packages for 4 people for $20. (8 tickets/$40) That savings alone paid for the membership because normal adult pricing for zoo lights is $24. I've been going to the zoo since I was a kid and still remember Hazel so I do miss that there are no gorillas. Morning is the best time to go because the animals are removed from their enclosures close to closing time. Zoo lights was so pretty they added lighted silk animals along the trail since the last time I've been. The male lion, tiger, a rhino and elephant were out so that was cool to see them at night. The train wasn't running which was disappointing. Yes, alchohol was being served.
Horrible boring experience. Over priced, one of the things we wanted to do was not even open! $100 bucks to see Christmas lights?? Come on. I can do that in my neighborhood for free. Half the zoo closed for Christmas parties. Traffic was a joke, they have everyone come into the zoo parking lot that's FULL so you can take an hour to turn around and get back out. Most dysfunctional thing I have ever seen. The idiot girl who wanted to dance while controlling traffic was obnoxious. This was our second and LAST time!
Went in the morning early in January and the animals were very active.
Best place in town for kids and adults , experience a really fun activities.
Everything in the zoo was pretty much closed. All the animals were either asleep or in places we couldnt view... Overall the experience on my last day of vacation was not pleasing
I love this zoo! Even when the parking lot is full, the zoo is big enough that I've never felt overcrowded inside. Their yearly membership cost is super reasonable and totally worth it; I've been going with my 2 yo since last summer and we always have a great time. They open nice and early in the summer before it gets too hot, and they have two splash pads for kiddos to cool off and play in.
Alot to see and plenty of animal displays for the kids
Lovely! Just an amazing experience riding on a camel!
This is one of the best zoos! We have been to a lot of zoos and this is a favorite. It's large and well laid out.even with all the construction it was amazing. I cannot wait to see it when they are done. We have gone 3 days in a row and will go again!
We visited Phoenix to visit family and they took us to this wonderful Zoo. My children loved it. I was especially impressed with the animals statues all over the park that were made completly with legos.
Great time. Very busy but it seemed that all the staff was well managed.
It was a busy day (first day of Spring Break), but the zoo seemed well-equipped to handle the influx of people. I was impressed with the speed, quality, and friendliness at the Savannah Grill.
A lot of walking but did not see many animals. Staff were very unfriendly. Needs a lot of improvements for us to visit here again!
Great zoo ... some interesting characters!! The lighted park at night is beautiful.
Went for Roars and Pours. Was a lot of fun, food, beer, and wine were $5 each. Will definitely go again.
This zoo is very spacious and has a wide variety of animals. There are interactive exhibits that tell you about the animals. Several different activities to do throughout the day as well as food to eat including Starbucks coffee. Make sure to bring sunscreen and budget a solid 4 hours to see everything and explore! More if you have children.
Update: I bought a membership because I enjoy coming here so much!
Upsold at the ticket booth and wasnt given instructions on how to redeem extra venues.
On the way out asked for a partial refund to reflect that we only had a general admission experience and was met with unprofessional management that refused to partial refund the upgraded price and instead kept telling us to go back in and redeem them even though I explained we had two exhausted children under age of 2 that were ready for sleep.
Not impressed with the customer service from the management team, many better zoos out there and will skip this tourist destination in the future.
Zoolights was an amazing experience for our baby and a great reason to get together with the family!
Beautiful, animals are well kept and I even saw some staff having a bird with what looked like an injured wing follow them around as they took it to get checked. The zoo lights at night were beautiful and well kept for sure!
It's always great to support and see the animals at the zoo and the friendly employees as well it's nice and beautiful weather outside to see the zoo animals and we enjoyed it. thank you
Great zoo! A lot of fun areas for kids to play and see animals. During the warm months there is a splash pad.
Zoo lights was super fun definatly suggest checking that out during the holiday season. Great staff as well
Great place to take the kids to. Plenty of shaded areas for a hot summer day and water attractions with splash pads
Amazing animals, clean streets, little crowds in early winter months
Great place to take a walk and see the sights. Plenty of things to see and do at the zoo. Also bonus is that there are plenty of shady places to take a break from the hot sun.
Absolutely loved this zoo!! The layout is easy to navigate, the enclosures are updated and large for the animals. The orangutan enclosure is so neat and so fun to watch their family play together! If you have $10 to spare, definitely stop by the sting ray feeding! Such a neat experience and worth the money!
We love our trips to the zoo. Wish things were a little bit more affordable (i.e. gift shop, food, water), we understand it goes towards to zoo though. Never been disappointed.
We held a prom there, and the zoo ended up being a great venue for it. It worked very well.
Love this place, love the staff, love what they do for the animals here. I have visited PHX Zoo many times before and it is always a great time. With COVID-19 quite a few things (mainly for kids) are not open including the Giraffe Encounter. We still had an amazing time.
We take our daughter here regularly and love it more each time we come..
Clean. Friendly staff. Lots of kid friendly play areas. My littles love to come and explore and play!
Great concept of cruise the zoo! We loved it. Worth the money.
It was an absolutely awesomely experience. We went to the lights event, loved both "Polar Express"; ride and the show..
Went to visit during ZooLights and I was very pleased with the size and work done to make ZooLights incredible!
