Too bad..If this review was based solely on the beer it would receive 5 stars- great beers. That said, food is not great- at all. It's mediocre bar-like food at resort restaurant prices! $14+ for a small onion ring appetizer. $18 for fish-n-chips. Even the kids menu was more than you'd expect to pay for an adult meal.
I look forward to drinking their beer every time, and yet I am SO disappointed every time at their food and prices- even the beer bottles to go cost more than you can buy in a store- so frustrating....

I read an article where Darren Welch (master brewer) said their beer is expensive because it's worth it, and I have to agree, but if it's $4.00 at a Fred Meyer it shouldn't be $7.00 at the brewery where the profit margin is 10 times higher!!
Going to the beach and brewery is an experience and this place never leaves us with the great one we are looking for.

Came for a beer outside (2 of us). There were at least 6 empty tables outside, nobody inside waiting and we were told there was at least a 30 min wait. Ok we'll just use the restroom, grab a beer to go and sit by the beach.... Nope, you're not allowed to use the bathroom even as a paying customer until you've been seated at a table. I guess I'd be more disappointed if Pelican had great beer, but still won't be returning.

I was looking forward to coming. Here after a hike and exploring the beaches, but when I asked to be sited somewhere with an outlet so I m able
To do some work while I enjoy my beer and food! They didn t have anything of the sort and directed me to another restaurant. SMDH

I used to love coming here, but they have really gone downhill in the last few years, both in food quality and service. We recently tried to call in a breakfast order, even though the last time we ordered take out we were disappointed, but we decided to give it another chance. The girl who answered the phone couldn't find what we wanted to order and clearly couldn't handle the pressure of taking an order over the phone so put us on with the manager. The manager told us the menu we were looking at was several years old, like we were stupid for looking at the menu that is linked on Google maps. He directed us to the website, where after some searching we found the lunch and dinner menu, but no breakfast menu. We called back and told the manager there was no breakfast menu on the website. He said dismissively that the website was new and that's why there was no breakfast menu. At that point, we had had enough of the nonsense and decided to go somewhere else for breakfast. I won't be going here anymore, which is too bad because it used to be my favorite restaurant on the coast. But now, the staff are rude and the food is not as good as it used to be.

We stop here on the way back from Lincoln City 4-5 times per year. We love the food and the service has always been excellent. Anxious to try the new one in Cannon Beach when it opens.

Good food and good beer. Prices are incredibly inflated and service is below average. I know it s covid time, but the service was ridiculously bad. I can get the same beer for $2 less at a tap house 3 hours away.

Amazing service! I got the fish tacos suggested by my server! Great view, fast service and very cozy as you sit inside, eating delicious food and watch the waves crash into the sand. A repeat trip for sure.

This place is amazing! They make a variety of awesome craft beers! The staff is exceptional and make the experience even better. And the view is absolutely breathtaking! The brewery is right at the ocean in Pacific City and right in front of the magnificent Haystack Rock!

The Smoked Tri-tip with Tsunami Stout was mouth watering! Highly recommended

The MacPelican Wee Heavy Ale was really good and you should try their Scottish Sunset, which is made with the MacPelican!

Oregon Shrimp Nicoise Salad was really different, but really great!

Lots of great choices!

We stopped in by chance and were pleasantly surprised. The view is incredible being situated right on the ocean front. We had a delicious dinner accompanied with some of the finest brew around. We will be back for sure!

Great beer, standard brew pub food. Be warned about the prices at first, but you are ultimately paying for the atmosphere and view. So it is worth it if you spend a little extra time there.

Great place right on the beach. Very friendly and fast service. We ate fish & chips and a beefburger with salad. We drank a craft beer from the brewery. The fish was crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The fries were just as crispy and everything with the dips tasted great.
The burger patty was juicy and rosy on the inside, crispy on the outside. The salad was crisp with a delicious dressing. The beer had a spicy note and was very tasty. All in all it cost 50 $ at the location and was well worth the money. I can only recommend it.

Both the food and the beer were amazing! I ordered a roasted mushroom flatbread while my husband ordered a spicy burger. My in-laws both ordered clam chowder. We ordered 2 cherryay beers to go with our meals and they were incredibly satisfying.

Fun stop at this Brewery on the Oregon Coast! The views from here, on the beach, were amazing! The pub was fun, we ordered a flight and I enjoyed my lettuce wraps! Great stop with my daughter!

Good service. The food was hot and tasty. My husband and I had the fish and chips. The breading was done just right and the fries were on point. My husband had one of their beers. He said it was excellent! We enjoyed the sunset from our booth. It was a delightful experience. The clam chowder was one of the best I've tasted.

Not to impressed with the food anymore. Beach is overcrowded with a ton of off leash dogs too. I used to look forward to coming here. Maybe when its less busy it will be better? 15.99 for a flavorless burger that was overcooked with skimpy fries. Normally there food is worth the 2 hour drive.

A couple years ago we were here eating, and we got to listen to our waitress complaining about the tourists at the next table over. Of course, that hasn't happened since, and obviously I've returned a few times, or I wouldn't be writing this now. But, I have always had the same feeling of not being welcomed. I'm not a "drive up from California for my first time" or "fly from the East Coast" tourist; I'm at the coast every month or two, but that shouldn't even matter. Let's face it, Pacific City is a pretty small place that wouldn't have this restaurant (and your jobs) if not for the tourists.
Anyway, to this last experience. We went here because the place we wanted to try was closed, so it was the default second option. The food was pretty decent, but nothing worthy of the price. The service was fine this time, but can't seem to shake that "better than you" feeling I've always got from them. Basically, yes, the view is great, but you can get this view for free. Come spend some time on the beach, go eat somewhere without a view, and then head back to the beach. Or don't, and leave the other great places in town less busy for me.

Not worth visiting here until they get the cars off the beach. The cars on this sand make this place unpleasant and pollute the beach. Plenty of other towns and beaches to visit on the Oregon Coast.

Food was okay, not great but just acceptable, prices are very high but then again it's a tourist spot. Service is very good almost too good, making it seem like they are very interested in turning over tables quickly. It is difficult to have a nice relaxing enjoyable meal. Make sure to specifically specify that you want ice in your water and soft drinks as they don't use it normally.

We were seated immediately despite the restaurant being busy, our drinks were brought out before the food. The hamburger I got was amazing, one of the best burgers I've ever had. Little pricey tough. The selection was pretty good, especially the beer. Hand-crafted and brewed at the restaurant. It has a magnificent view of Cape Kiwanda and coastal rock formations. All in all pretty darn good.

I can see why everyone raves on this place! The servers are friendly and very knowledgeable. I got a flight to try and the server recommended the ones I got. I tried the oysters bruschetta, clam chowder and the marionberry cobbler!! Lots of seating and some TVs for big games!! This is a MUST VISIT!!

Soooooo not impressed by this overpriced seafood restaurant. Fish tacos, fine, but not $18 fine. Taco del mar is much better. $25 for crab mac and cheese, no salad, that's $10 extra. BlackBerry cobbler tastes like the one in the hungry man dinner. Wait staff complaining in the dining room about customers. Not impressed.

A little pricey, but we enjoyed the location, the people, the food and the beer! We found out that the brewing is not actually done here anymore, it is done at the Pelican Bay Taproom in Tillamook. Another reason to visit more than once.

Anniversary dinner. Couldn't have picked a better place. World class view and beer...and wife. Grin

2 weeks later. Back for a growler and a day on the beach. Again 5 stars. The Umbrella IPA is a good pairing with an 80deg Sunday. Who needs Maui when we have this combo.

I've been to Pelican a few times now. We've surprisingly never had to wait, even when it's busy. I really like the atmosphere of the restaurant. It's not overwhelming for its size and location. It's not overtly touristy like you might expect from a beach front restaurant in a small town. This place has amazing views and good food. Nothing I've had food wise has been spectacular but still okay. A bit too pricey for what you get if you ask me. We've almost always had issues with the service but overall never had a terrible experience. A great place to eat if you're at Pacific city beach. Very convenient and such a pretty location.

Was very disappointed stopped by Saturday but told 2+ hour wait but could call and get on the wait list. So Sunday called at 6 for wait list was told that it was hour and 39 minutes at that point. We got on the list at 7:30 checked looked like about 8-10 people in front of us so would be another 30 minutes, checked at 8 and the list hadn't shrunk, but they had been seating people. They said they would get us seated, as we went to our table saw at least 5 empty tables, after ordering it took over an hour to get our food. Pretty sad service for a business that seems to be growing. If you want to get seated I would say the squeaky wheel approach will get you seated. The food was over priced and not that hot, lucky for them they are the main restaurant in the area and you're at least 30 minutes from other comparable places next time will plan to go to Tillamook or Lincoln City.

Worst experience ever with the children working the front. Called as we were parking to ask if we could put our names on the list for dine in. I was told there was no wait and to come in and they would seat us right away. When we walked in not 6 min later we were told a 15-30 min wait and had to give them our number. 47 min later and 4 parties that put their names on the list after us being sat, it took me asking for a manager to be sat. The server was great tho.

Overrated unimaginative pedestrian fare besides mediocre beer. A home run with the 1 hit tourists passing through. Again overpriced food.. thick starchy chowder.. how people seem to think chowder should be this way have too much corn starch on the brain.. might as well open a can of Campbell's even that would be better

Good place by the beach. Long waits during the weekend for dine in, hence we ordered takeout and had some drinks after being seated. Food was pretty nice, although they have limited vegetarian options.

Great menu and an excellent beer sampler, which gives you a chance to try some of the new brews. It's a pity they dropped their pizzas from the menu of a couple of years back because they were excellent. As I was really looking forward to that I was disappointed even if what I had was good.

Wait time can be 30-45 minutes when busy. Quality of food is better than average pub food. Beer is quite good, with a good variety of choices of on site brewed beer. Great outside eating area... watch the ocean, Dory boats and people.

I want to give a big THANK YOU to this place, we had a friend family loose her life on a visit to Cape Kiwanda, there were there to celeberate the life of there Daughter/sister/granddaughter h who lost her life on Feb. 1-2016.

After placing the wreath and flowers they went to this place to have a family dinner. At the end of there dinner they were told NO one had to pay for there meals and that is something special especially in time like theses.

I would stop by this place to give them my business any day.
Just wanted to give a BIG thank you to all of you there...

Can not express enough how much I love this brewery. It has it all! Delicious food, exceptional beer, fantastic view and abundantly friendly staff. We have gone several times and would make the 2 1/2 hr drive literally every day if we could!

Awesome location. Great ambience. Good selection of beer and food. I have been coming for years and seen menu changes and I like what I ordered and so did my wife. I look forward to going here!

Dang we just love this place! Never the same when returning for sight seeing or a great beer! The food and drink at the Pelican is always delicious. It's a MUST stop and see when going to the Oregon coast!

We sat on the patio in late July on a windy day with our greyhound. The food and beer were absolutely delish and the service was so great. My partner and I both got the chowder to start, it was perfect (and my partner is from New England!). I got the spicy burger and my partner got the fish and chips.

Not worth our out of the way hour drive. So disappointed. We came a long way just for the dining experience. The woman at the take out counter was so incredibly rude, to the point that I almost walked away mid-order. I now wish I had. The food was certainly not worth the terrible service. I understand that it can be stressful, I have worked in the service industry for ten years but this was uncalled for. We don t plan to return EVER.
