Casual, fun, and nice view. The best was the food....
Casual, fun, and nice view. The best was the food. I had the fish tacos and they were ambrosia! An excellent culinary experience. The chefs deserve a big fat raise!

The beer is good and the food is unique and high quality! The price reflects the great execution
The food was average. Nothing to write home about. The prices were exorbitant. Lunch with a shared appetizer, two Iced teas, a burger, fish and chips, and two deserts, with a 20% tip was $85!
Silverspot Butterflies Beer! Yes. These beers are my early favorites. Tsunami Stout makes me crave undertow...
What a series of unfortunate events. I ve had great experiences in the past, but this time took the icing on the cake. To start out, it was about an hour wait. Upon arriving at our table, it took about 10-15 minutes to be greeted by our More
Average cheap brew pub food at 2x price, you pay for the nice views. OK clam chowder, 5% clam, 95 % other stuff, like those out of the can. Good beer.
Pub is on the beach with great views, also has a patio for those who like wind. The beers were great and the food was gastropubby. It's worth climbing the large dune nearby for the view. I will make a point of coming back when in the area.
Food was excellent, service was good and the view was beautiful, not to mention best beer around!
We love this place! Great food, good beer and great service! We recommend the tri-tip melt. I paired it with 3 capes pale ale. If you enjoy a heavier beer/ more hops, go with the beak breaker. (The melt has red onions, And I don't do onions so I asked them to hold the onions). It also has a mild spicy remoulade sauce which has a hint of horseradish sauce taste to it. These tri-tips melts were so dang tasty we drove back up the coast from Newport on our way back to Washington just to have another taste! Make sure if you do order this "melt", there is a similar "sandwich " with crispy french fried onions on the sandwich and bbq sauce. It's still fantastic just know the difference when you place your order! Make sure to pick up your tourist t-shirts, beanies, or hoodies before you leave. Next time we are taking growlers of the 3capes home with us, it's so smooth!
The Pelican Pub is one of the best beach pubs on the Oregon coast. The service is quick and friendly, the food is outstanding, and the view is unbeatable. Right on the beach, sand just steps away from your table, and great social distancing, you re going to feel safe, taken care of, and full of great food going here.
The service staff wear masks and have all the tables well spaced out. I shared a margarita flatbread pizza with my sister and had some clam chowder and a mimosa. My food didn t take too long and tasted great. And the beer here is made at the brewery and tastes fantastic! If you re looking for a truly remarkable, Oregonian beach-goer experience, eat here.
They also host parties, events, and weddings for when those kinds of things are good to host after COVID-19.
Always worth the trip to Pacific City just to visit this place. They have delicious food and wonderful beers too. Add in the perfect location with an amazing view and you have a great spot.
Meh food, high tourist prices, friendly svc, good beer. Impressive lack of flavor in most items, even sauces. Pleasant setting to be sure, including inside
Not sure how you can make a bad burger but it was awful. And for the price it should have been delicious...absolutely no flavor.
I can't complain about the setting. And the stout was very good. But... I had settled in at the bar to watch the USA and Portugal in the World Cup. US scores, the 20 of us or so at the bar, cheer! The management did not like it for some reason that I could not see. We were told that we had to keep it "down" or the TVs will be turned off. Well the US scored their final score of the game... Who can resist cheering for your team? Well they turned off the TVs..... Need I say more?!?!?
I've been coming to the Pelican Pub almost since it's opening and my latest trip told me two things - apparent change in management and focus from a fun place to visit to a tourist cash cow. Every business needs to make money to stay in business but the Pelican Pub seems to have taken it a step further. We went to eat breakfast, myself, wife, daughter and a friend of hers. First the breakfast menu has changed dramatically removing eggs to order and replacing them with scrambled and I'm betting not from fresh eggs but from a carton. The crepes filled with fruit and whipping cream, the whipping cream obviously from a container and not fresh and pancakes that looked more like large seagull droppings spattered on the plate and tasteless. My wife's meal included bell pepper with the little sticky label still on the cooked pepper which indicates it wasn't washed or prepared properly and the potatoes were not fresh, probably a day old. Coffee and juice completed the meal. Total cost for a relatively small breakfast was a sweet $84.00. The waitress staff was pleasant and served the meal quickly. I would not recommend the Pelican any more - taking such drastic cuts to meal preparation is unsatisfactory especially at those prices. Pelican Pub should consider replacing it's management staff and getting back to basics - they use to have one of the best Eggs Benedict.
Excellent service! Great healthy dairy free meals. Blissfully beautiful desserts. Amazing view of the rock.
Really good beer. Tasty desserts, and good fish and chips!
Tsunami stout perfect as always and the food and service was outstanding
Over priced and poor service. If they weren't the only restaurant in town, they wouldn't be so busy.
My favorite brewery!! Their craft beer and beach views will keep you coming back. "Born at the beach" is spot on!!
Ordered on the phone and picked up lunch - sat on the sand and ate fish and chips in the sun.
Food was ready in 10 mins and delicious.
Great view. Hostess was not pleasant. Food was basic and overpriced. Appetizers for 3 were too small and unappetizing for 14$ each. Cold and uninviting side dining room with door to beach leads to unwanted drafts of blowing sand and rain Probably would not go back, maybe for drinks... maybe.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and didn t mind the wait, the view is absolutely gorgeous. Service was average, nothing to write home about. I got a burger and the worst case of food poisoning I ve had in quite a while, which is odd considering the patty was well done. Perhaps it was simply a bad night.
Good food right on the beach so great views, but it's a tad pricey and very noisy. Was originally thought it would be a good place for a date, but to loud to have a decent conversation. Amazing staff though!!!!!!
Food was good, but it could be better. I had the fish and chips and it was good enough to get an adult full. And, I also liked the beer. I don't think it's that expensive. If you go to this restaurant, you will enjoy the view and also be able to walk on the beach. I give it four stars because the restaurant is located in an amazing place.
Although the portion sizes are smaller than average, the food is delicious. If you decide to seat outside and enjoy the sun or the ocean breeze, you are only a step away from the sand.
Clam chowder was perfect. Server was efficient and friendly.
Start with great location, but then it goes downhill. Inflated menu prices for portion size, and no lunch menu. Service staff varies from good to poor. We love Pacific City, but this restaurant is not the best in town!
Nice place, great service, Eddie was was awesome. Yup, the food was very good and plenty of drink options.
The lettuce wraps were delicious - I hope they stay on the menu long term. As always, the ocean view is second to none.
Great food, wonderful beer (obviously). Yes a bit overpriced but I think it is justifiable for the view.
This place is pretty great. Has great food and beer. Location is awesome. One of the best places for a restaurant on the Oregon coast. A bit over priced and wait can be up to a couple hours. Worth going to at least once, or every time you come out to pacific city.
Always busy. Go early and put your name in. Average wait time is 45 minutes to an hour
Good clam chowder.
Better food than it needs to have. Surprising. Good on ya Pelican!
I sat at the bar so my service was very good. The bartender was attentive and the beer was really good. I had a grilled chicken Caesar salad which was good but a little pricey. The thing that I enjoyed the most was the strawberry rhubarb crisp. It was amazing.
I'm not sure why in all the years I have driven by I had not been in.... Beer is great! I really enjoy their limited and seasonal releases. Food is pretty solid for a brewery...and you couldn't ask for a better location and view.
Excellent beer and food. The smoked oysters, salmon, zucchini cakes, tri-tip, and razor clam po' boy were all great. It's a bit pricey for the type of food but that's to be expected in an area like Pacific City. Great service as well.
Great experience, perfect location to enjoy amazing food and beer!
We were told it'd be 45 min. We got on the wait list. Got a confirmation text that its be 45-1 hour. We waited the full hour and checked in and was told it'd be at least a half hour. We waited another half hour and finally walked in and there were 4 or 5 tables open. My husband asked if we were up and were sullenly told they would get a table ready for us. We stood another 5 minutes waiting and a finally the host took us to a dirty table that had a broom leaning against it and garbage on the floor. One of the waitresses stopped him and said how about we seat the. At this nice sanitized table. We sat for 10 minutes before we had the waiter come over. After that the food and drinks came fairly quickly. Waiter was pleasant. Food was overpriced but adequate. Will not go there again.
This was our number one destination on our trip down the Oregon coast. We loved the location! It is so beautiful, right on the beach, looking out at Haystack Rock. It can't be beat.
We ordered a flight of their beer. It had the best presentation of any beer flight I've ever had anywhere. Some of the beers were good, some were bland. But there were some winners.
The food was not amazing, but above-average. It was definitely better than the food at their Tillamook location. We enjoyed the service. We found it the wait staff, all of them were very attentive. They definitely recognize what their role in a tourist location is. Though it was expensive, we would definitely be back. In fact we went there twice in two days.
Food not that good, slow service do not recommend to anyone
Can only speak for the burgers, but they were delicious.
Always have to stop by for good food and good beer. Can't beat the view either.
Very nice restaurant and bar with a great view of Cape Kiwanda. The service was friendly and attentive. The beer is great and the food was delicious. Good for a nice date or for groups.
Good food, nice people, good beer selection. They have a lot of space. They also do a great job when Reach the Beach comes to town.
Not too long of a wait, our waitress was nice, and the food was good
Whenever we come to Pacific City this place is a must! It can be crowded at time but its easy to snag a beer and wait on the beautiful outdoor patio. I could stare at Haystack for hours no problem! The food is great, I have eaten almost everything on the menu and haven't been disappointed yet. The staff is very friendly and quick to serve patrons. Highly recommend this place!
I'm from Arizona. Someone from Lincoln City, OR highly recommended this restaurant. We had to go out of our way to get there. Let me just say it was not worth the drive. It's really just a sports bar. I've had better fish and chips in Tucson. Very small pieces. (3) The Cole slaw was good, though!
I don't generally leave negative reviews but the burger I had was really sub-par, especially for the price ($20!! with onion rings) The onion rings were nothing to write home about either. On the other hand, our server provided excellent service despite being busy.
I had the tri-tip sandwich, it was excellent and so was our waiteess!
Pot roast meal was huge and very tasty; however, the burger was dry as well as the bun and despite adding lots of toppings, it remained poor. Really enjoyed the Scottish ale & IPA. Service was good at the bar. A second visit we had to beg to be seated and beg a bus boy for a beverage. We left before ordering food due to poor service; however, we did enjoy one more beer on the ocean side deck in the sun while watching all the folks on the beach, so not all was lost
Amazing view, tasty flatbreads. The beer always has a tinny flavor to me, so it's a bit over priced for what it is. But the location is boss.
Food and drink was amazing! The root beer is smooth and the fish and chips were so well done. Thank you for the great time!
Multiple award winning beers. Kiwanda Cream ale, Stout, and Scottish ale. Food Is good, big portions. Giving it 3 star because this place is over priced! View is 5 star! Plenty of room. Good for kids.
At least Half the calamari was fried onion and peppers, not actual calamari, and it was really greasy.
Super busy, food was good. They have a walk up to go order window right now. The calamari was really good.
Had a beer flight and the BBQ Tri-tip burger was fantastic. Kid friendly place too!
So we called to order breakfast, and McKay answered the phone, um oh my god mmmkay. Like oh my god for real. It was like talking to a high school valley girl who had no clue what she was doing. She must be good looking and hired on that basis alone. The menu that is online is out of date and the items are no longer available. This was more than McKay could handle "omg, for real?" "As if" she she put Zach the "manager " on the phone and he directed us to their website which he claimed would have "everything we need " Zach apparently has not actually looked at the Web page because it does not offer a breakfast menu. We called back and both McKay and Zach were obviously put out by our two phone calls and we're short and snippy. When I began to complain about my interaction with McKay and her inability to handle the telephone he became upset and said " I'm done talking to you" and hung up the phone. Obviously they were in no way prepared for the everest like challenge of taking a breakfast order over the phone, sorry to have complicated your morning kiddies. Anyway I'm over the pelican and the lame arrogant attitude of its employees.
Beer is average. Honestly, much much better breweries throughout Oregon.
Food is average to awful and overpriced. The staff also have no integrity and the manager is super sketchy. (We left something on our table and when we came back for it, was gone, and manager was super unfriendly and being super sketchy).
I honestly would never come here again.
Two stars only for the view, but you're better off packing a picnic or having a fire on the beach.
Amazing food!! Excellent service "Amy" was FANTASTIC
This might be the best location for a brew pub on the pacific coast. Great beer!
Solid pub food, great beer and the service was impecable.
Always a great experience. Great beers- been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great kids menus and homemade root beer. And the views not bad either.
Everything about this place was bad. The food was gross and over priced. The servers were down right rude. It was slow and the food still took 40 minutes. There are other breweries in the area, do yourself a favor and go to a different one.
One of my favorite spots on the Oregon Coast for great pub food and spectacular beach and ocean views - a must stop spot. Clam chowder is always a winner and they make awesome, charred burgers! Wait times can get incredibly long around lunch, so plan ahead. Very nice outdoor space practically on the beach for warmer days too.
Was amazing to sit on the deck for a beautiful early snack. The clam chowder was fantastic as was the calamari. They brew amazing beers good for many tastes and dishes. Can't wait to go back. Our server Josh was super rad!
Beer and appetizer after a walk on the beach. Perfect!
Great place to join friends & eat a wonderful meal. The staff is outstanding.
The location and beer are great. Hectic atmosphere but servers try to be nice. Food very average.
Fantastic food. The wait time to get a table is definitely worth it
Good food, good beer, nice ocean view and the dessert was good too.
Updating my post from 2014... the food quality has massively improved!
Great place but expensive. Haven t had a bad meal or a bad beer there. It s an amazing location and worth going to. It s the beach, of course things are going to cost a little more.
Finished off a beautiful day at the beach with great beer at Pelican Pub. Salmon cakes were excellent!
Great beer and good food. Great place to hang outside if the weather permits
Great seafood! (Suprise suprise), child freindly, and no sand in the food!
The food and beer are great! Since it's located on the beach so it gets very crowded, beware. The tri-tip sandwich is wonderful. So is the Mac and cheese with crab. They always have a nice selection of beers since it's a brewery as well.
