Great service! Good food! Excellent beer taster sampler!!
Overpriced with small portions. Food isn't bad but not worth what they price it at. $10 bowl of clam chowder is cup sized and the $18 trip tip sandwich with $3 onion rings comes on a hotdog bun with 5 small onion rings. Just not worth what they price it at.
Great atmosphere and food to fit most any occasion. We came in from the beach on our first visit out of curiosity. This place is run like a precision crew. Very personable and well trained. Our return visit gave us fond memories of our anniversary. This visit was even better than the first. We've been at least 5 times now and consider it a must see on our trips to the coast.
Waited an hour and a half to be seated. When we ordered one of the entree items it was not available, 2nd pick entree not available then a 3rd entree was requested and still they did not have that available. We did not get a sorry or hey we want our customers to be happy and come back and see us lets comp your meal half price....just something...anything. The meals we received were good but how they approached the situation even after speaking with a manager was terrible. We received a coupon for our next visit. There won't be a next time unfortunately. To top it off the manager was talking about us to the other employees in front of our faces as we were walking out.
A mixed bag. 5 star views! 3 star completely ordinary beer, 3-4 stars for the food, but it's painfully overpriced. Guess you are paying for the location. Overall, nothing to go out of your way for.
Wow overpriced. $18 a plate? The food was good, but not that good. The view of course though was great.
Excellent chowder and Caesar salad. Burgers not good at all, especially for a brewery. $10 apple cobbler tasted like it came from the frozen aisle at Safeway. Food is very overpriced, service not attentive although seems well intentioned.
The onion rings are amazing, the crab Mac left a bit to be desired, until we asked for spices and garlic butter, then it became something quite tasty. Wait times for a table can be excessive. Quality is towards the high end, value is more towards the low side as the dishes are a little overpriced for the ingredients while portion sizes are reasonably moderate to slightly large.
My boyfriend and I came here they said they had a 15 min wait for dinning so we went out to the patio where we could be seat right away. We were seating at our table for 15 minutes before we got service and its because our server forgot a salad for another table. In that time he was sitting waiting for the salad in the kitchen he could have taken our order. Its pricey so you should expect decent service for your 27 dollar meal. We came here because my boyfriend has celiac disease and they claimed to have a gluten free menu. He ordered there gluten free flat bread and the waiter said "that there was flour in the air in the oven" so they can guarantee it will be completely gluten free. We regularly eat gluten free pizza and places that serve regular pizza never been an issue because all they have to do is clean the oven and stick it in and its fine normally.
Great beer and food, right on the beach. Laid back, good friendly atmosphere.
Very nice place, delicious food. Good service. Good job guys
Have eaten here multiple times. Food has always been good. Great ocean views and outstanding, award -winning beers. Hard to beat.
This is my 2nd time eating here the food is good and a really nice view
Best food we've had since getting to America. Great options and amazing flavours. What a view as well.
Decent beers. OK food. Killer location. Grabbing a beer and going out back to look out on the Pacific & Haystack Rock could never get old.
I have both loved and hated the Pelican in the last couple years. As a local resident of Pacific City, during the winter I've loved their reasonable menu and great staff, not to mention the incredible views. This past summer, though, the menu seemed a bit pretentious and expensive. The food is still very good, but it seems more suited to the well-off or those who aren't interested in a true brew-pup. The prices were a bit outlandish and well-suited to the Bend/Portland crowd.
Not happy! Spent an astronomical amount of money, to have my boys walk out hungry. Had 2 different servers, and the last one is lucky we left a tip at all. My fries weren't hot when our food came out. My husband didn't eat more than half his burger, and lastly, my boys wouldn't use the bathroom. Sadly disappointed! My husband and I have been a few times years ago, much better then.
We didn't het a chance to try the food. This is not very dog friendly. We were told we could sit on the deck with our 9 pound dog, who was in a stroller, but they only let you sit at the tables along the sand. They were somewhat rude about it. Won't go back.
The setting is absolutely amazing! But the prices are through the roof. We paid $60 this morning for a to mimosas and two breakfast buffets plus tip. I wish they could be a little more accommodating since they have the Monopoly on the area.
Wonderful dinner with best sunset you can imagine. We will be back!
Stopped for lunch on our way out of town. This place stayed busy during our visit and after eating here I can understand why. We ordered various dishes from vegetarian to burgers and fish. All of it was delicious and worth every penny. Our server was a friendly lady from Sri Lanka and very personable. Stop here if you can and take in the beach view and atmosphere.
Looooong line at sunset for obvious reasons[can be 1+ hours on the weekend]. But, really good and fresh seafood. The view and atmosphere outside on the beach is awesome though, so, well worth the wait. So, put in your reservation early and go enjoy the beach in the meantime. Server was kind, and the beer was tasty too. All-around good experience.
Not worth the hype or the money. The beer is good, but the food just okay. The crab mac and cheese was really good ($24) but the tri tip was fatty and had the smallest scoop of mashed potatoes I've ever seen ($24). The kids meals are small portions and very pricey ($6- $12) with no drink included. Service was fine. We should have come in for the beer and went to another less tourist-y restaurant.
The server was friendly, but service was slow. The reason for the low rating is the food and beer are overpriced by a wide margin. Calamari was marginal. Beer was good. $7 for a 12 oz beer is a RIP off.
We visit Portland a lot, about once a year. We always make a trip to the coast and make a point to come here because we love it so much! I really could go on and on about how wonderful this place is. Do yourself a favor, stop in for a pint and stay for a bite!
Casual place with outdoor and indoor seating. Prices reasonable for area and we weren't disappointed. Vegetarian options worked well for Wife. Beer is good.
Good beer, overpriced mediocre food for very high prices and the service was awful. Never going here again!
A brew-pub on superb beach. Splendid. I like the food enough to eat here more than once. Given the location, it's no surprise that attire is largely flip-flops and wife-beaters.
They serve up a really good pint (esp' the Scottish Ale when it's in season), and a decent burger.
Great place to dine with kids because when they get bored they can play in the sand.
Ordinarily, the food would have to be better for me to give 5 stars, but the overall experience and value for money makes up for the food not being any snazzier (who would expect fine dining on the beach in a small town?).
Check out the T-shirt selection too. And your kids will be given free fish-shaped crackers while they wait.
Great views, food was good, but the beer was better
Absolutely the worst service ever, waited 45 minutes for our table, another 30 for someone to come and get our order and another 20 for them to come back and ask for our order again. We just ended up walking out at that point.
What a horrible experience! Our server Lyndella was absolutely rude and unprofessional. We came in for a craft beer, some lunch and take in their view of the Pacific Ocean. Lyndellas lack of customer service and horrible attitude was enough to make us leave the restaurant and find somewhere else to have lunch.
Very good service. Over priced for serving size. Would not go back to eat.
WORST FISH TACOS EVER... not even in taco form, and microwaved tortillas!
Touristy Vibe, But Cool! Exceptional Views Exceptional Service Thanks Amy! Very Good Selection of Beers Tasty Food! Would Definitely Stop by Again and make the 101 Cruise for the Views and Good Beer!
Been a fan of their beers for a while, and now make a point to visit their place in Pacific City every chance I get. The location cannot be beat, with a patio that literally meets the sand and views to die for, especially at sunset. Be prepared for a wait though - get your name on the list for a table, then get a pint of your favorite brew and relax looking out over the Pacific. Once seated, you will find a menu that is concise and well-curated, complete with recommended beer pairings. The oyster steamers are great, the clam chowder amongst the best I've ever had, the salmon flatbread is light and delicious, and the onion rings superb. The waitstaff is incredible and the kitchen works their butts off to get consistently high-quality food to your table quickly. If you're making a trip to the Northern Oregon coast, this is a must.
It was ok . They have zero ice cream , and no desserts. Other than that the food was acceptable.
The food is $$$$ I am sure their beer is good. Didn t taste it. Servers were very prompt and polite. Their taste is not amazing worth of 4 or 5 stars. Good place when is not busy. I am sure things change when they are super busy in the summer. Their special weren t so special and still $$$$. Enjoy the pics
I remember Pelican Brewing and Restaurant from being a child visiting the Oregon Coast with my parents and when I returned almost 15 years later I was pleasantly surprised that they have done nothing but grow and improve in the time since I'd last visited. My husband and I stayed at the Inn at Cape Kiwanda and ate at the Pub all three nights that we were there.
Everything from sharing appetizers for a small meal with our beers to full entrees of salmon and fish tacos we greatly enjoyed our food. They have a nice variety to please all tastes and feature some delightful seafood to enjoy with your ocean view.
Great space with a gorgeous view! The brews were awesome & the food was delicious. Friendly staff. The faucets/hand dryers in the bathroom were pretty cool, too!
Quick service, good food, family friendly, great amenities (outside fire was lit, patio open), clean (all that sand went someplace). Overall a very pleasant dinner
Great location. Good beer, I just wish they were a little bit more creative with the food menu.
Great food, great background, great service, great beer! Favorite place to visit on the coadt!
Location is awesome, sitting right on the beach looking at the cape. not to mention the great burgers, good beer, and friendly service.
Awesome restaurant and pub right on the beach, great to finish off a day at the beach.
Clam Chowder Bowl onion rings. Kathy had a burger it was great
Great atmosphere, wonderful beer, and personable snappy service. Bryan was top tier and made the experience worth the drive to the ocean view hideaway. 5 stars!
The tsunami burger hands-down the best burger I ve ever had.
Great Onion rings but a bit pricey. Salmon flat bread excellent. Salmon was fresh. Lettuce wraps also very good. Beer flight showcased a fine stable of brews. Bad Santa was particularly good.
On a drive back home from the Oregon coast to Washington, a group of six of us (and two dogs) decided to stop here for lunch. It was one of the best lunches we ever had. We sat on the patio, the sun was out and the views were amazing. Our quick lunch turned into an afternoon full of great drinks, food and friends. Our waiter was fantastic and the food was delicious. I m pretty sure every person in our group ended up buying a hat or sweatshirt from Pelican. All in all, this is a wonderful spot to spend time with the ones you love and gaze out to the ocean and beyond. We will definitely be back to this slice of paradise.
I wish I could give this place 10 stars. One of my favorite places in the world. Sometimes the wait is long but it s always worth it! Best beer, best food and great service with an amazing view.
Too expensive. Ordered Pelicans famous rings for 14.99 and they come in tower form which menu did not specify & a Little Nestuca Nudge which specifies Baileys, Kahlua, Triple sec and coffee. Did not specify served hot so that was an unpleasant surprise. Sneaker wave was ok but fairly basic taste, nothing special. Hostest was pleasant. Server was friendly and accommodating. There was a 15-30 minute wait when we originally checked in, they took my number and said they'd text when table was ready. It was only about a 10 min wait and I appreciated the text so you were free to walk around or hang at the beach instead of having to wait to hear your name called.
Honestly wish we could have tried it. But a 2 hour wait isn't worth it. There looked like there was more people leaving because of the wait times rather than actually staying and eating. But, judging from the mediocre ratings otherwise, we weren't missing much.
Service was excellent, food was expensive and mediocre. Paid $18 for decent fish and chips. Won't be back.
Food and atmosphere 4.5, service was a 3. Really gave us the impression they didn't want us around. I asked him how much for a crowler of the apricot brut IPA because I really really loved it. He responds "I don't know, think it's $15." He didn't say he'll go double check the price, he was happy with I don't know, I think it's this. I have a tough time believing a crowler is $15, I should have asked someone else because I loved that brew.
Absolutely loved my Spicy Burger, we celebrated our 16 yr Anniversary and had a wonderful time! Great food and wonderful service every time we go!! Thanks for making our night a awesome!!
$30 Cioppino (fish stew) was terrible. . Excessively salty. No fresh fish. Mostly potatoes and broth. Disappointing.
Fish & chips was delicious. Service was so so.
We didn't see a hostess at the front and assumed you seat yourself. I even asked a waiter outside and he said there are lots of open chairs in front. Once we did grab a table outside another waiter came along to say we should have been seated by the front desk. Since there was no wait he said he won't make us get up. Service was relatively quick but they totally forgot to bring us silverware.
Great beer selection and I highly recommend the Fish and Chips. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very friendly.
Beer is still awesome, but the food menu has degraded to bar dishes served at outrageous prices. $16 burger...dang!
Pelican used to be my go-to spot when I went to the beach and I have loved it for many years. Sadly, after my last trip there I will not ever be returning. The prices have gone up and menu has changed for the worse. The food was still good but I did not see local dory caught fish anywhere on the menu like it always used to be. They also did away with the po boy sandwiches that I used to always get. The final straw was when I got a growler that I had brought filled. Had I known it would be $23 I would have passed. That is an outrageous price for a growler fill unless it is high abv beer but this was not. The icing on the cake was when I got home and discovered my growler was only slightly more than 3/4 full and mostly flat(this was an insulated aluminum growler that you can't see through). Guess I should have checked it before I left and not assumed that people working at a brewery know how to pour beer.
Amazing place! We sat outside with our dogs, phenominal view, want to go back for more food, wonderful beer, and great service!
Told us 45 min wait. We waited past our wait time then when my husband complained they gave us our table right away. The food was very expensive for the quality. I pay $20 for a fish taco. It was not that good. We also waited long time for our food to arrive. My kids had fish n chips that was not bad. I am not coming back.
Amazing views from this place! The food was very good, the beer was very good, but prices are pretty high! The service was amazing despite it being extremely busy!
Awesome!! Amazing service! Friendly people! Love it here
Come here as often as I can.
Food fantastic, and yeah let s not even go there with the BEERS! Lol.
Love
Great fish and chips. The beer sampler for $12. 00 is a bargain
Fine brewpub with excellent food and service. There's usually a wait, but not too long, and well worth it. Glorious views of Cape Kiwanda and the ocean.
Not that good...the crab Mac n cheese is very disapointing....not creamy
..at all. The $18 burgers looked pretty good...but.....servers don't convey options available on their throw away menu. Kitchen staff brings out food instead of server...not very professional...maybe because it was late at night and people are tired...8:30 pm
Great view, good weather and nice food. These could be found in one place and Pelican Brewing is the place.
Had dinner with the family on a weeknight. Hostesses seemed very disorganized. Food was good, but overpriced. Between us we had several beers and passed them around. None were outstanding and all had almost no carbonation.
Very over priced food, lacking in quality. Menu items lacking family venue. Signature BBQ sauce is terrible, homemade mashed potatoes were also terrible. $24.99 Smoked tri-tip, bad smoke flavor and entire dish was cold. Only good thing, is the nice view to go with the loud bad music.
We enjoyed the open non-crowded feel inside the pub even though it was full of patrons. Outside seating was available. House branded Porter Beer was $6, bowl of chowder included abouta cup and a half of soup and was $10, but tasted fantastic. Fish and chips was great quality but for $19 only got 3 fish, some normal fries and coleslaw (with pineapple - nice touch!). We added another fish because we were sharing and it cost another $4. So for $40 it is hard to say it was "worth" it even though the quality was good. Was not expecting that for pub food.
Spendy, but the building was neat, service was excellent.
There isn't another bar right on the beach in Oregon like Pelican. The beer is more classic styles, so you won't find experimental IPAs, sour beers, or cask aged brews, but that doesn't matter. The beer is award winning for a reason, so sit back with a beer and enjoy the crashing waves. The food isn't exemplary, but it's the best option available in Pacific City as far as restaurants go. 3 stars for the food, 5 stars for the beer and location.
Rude staff. Not dog friendly. Will never come here again.
Food was good but the restaurant allows dogs to sit at the tables inside!
Cold food..right out of the refrigerator cold. Ordered the St. Louis ribs. Sent it back to be reheated and it came back cold again. A waste of time and money. Talk to some of the locals and they said they NEVER eat there because the food and service is so crappy. The waitress was nice but not very smart.
Good, but spendy. Root beer floats were eight bucks which seemed a little excessive but the Salmon Artichoke Dip was great. I also liked the Margherita Flatbread. The view is nice, the deck is cool unless it's windy.
Great food, but their "All Gender bathroom " . Was too much. It's wrong.
Food was a little pricey, but very very good, better-than-average pub fare. Rave reviews for the beer -- the Monk of the Beach is probably the best dark ale we've ever tried. We liked it so much we paid a pretty penny for a growler full of it. Staff was friendly and service good - thought we would wait longer for the food with the large crowd and were pleasantly surprised when our meal arrived in a fairly timely manner. Peret & Goulet give two thumbs up!
Pelican is a great spot to check out. There's nothing better than grabbing a beer and being able to sit in the sand. Lots of dogs running around and lots of friendly cool people.
Parking is tough here though. Be careful about parking on the beach if you don't have a 4x4 or AWD vehicle.
