I love going to the zoo. I hadn't been for awhile and while I do love our zoo it is now almost $18 per person to get in which is no problem except I didn't know they were doing so much remodel which again is awesome! I just wish they would let people know that so many animals are off exhibits right now. I also think it would be nice if they let people know when field trips are happening. I took my daughter yesterday and their were so many kids! We went on a Tuesday an hoir after they opened thinking it would be slow. I was wrong my daughter is two and kept getting trampled by kids. Not only that but literally all bears, a lot of monkeys and small exhibits were off exhibit and almost all of Africa too besides the lions. Like I said I love our zoo but I would love to see info on this kind of stuff.

Every time we go there half of the attractions seem to be under construction. Also, I find it ridiculous that you have to pay for parking on top off your admission to the zoo. However, we are very appreciative that they made a zoo visit possible amongst the COVID chaos.

Who doesn't love a Zoo??? Because its winter and its Portland, we didnt get to see some of the animals but they have view holes into most of the bedding areas so we got to see sleeping animals cozying up to each other:) The best part was the elephants! They have one of the best elephant enclosures ever! You can tell it keeps the their minds and bodies active. Can't wait till the new exhibits open in 2020!

Such a large zoo! So many exhibits and interactive things for young ones. We loved seeing the two elephants but unfortunately missed a polar bear and rhino exhibit that are being built

Lots of animals. Posted animal facts. Lots of places to eat. Raptor show is well worth seeing.train ride is fun and scenic. Small carousel for kids ( I like it too). Great spaces for viewing animals. Fantastic gift shop. You can ride the MAX train to get there. Usually enough parking if you drive. Right next to the Forestry Center (Worth the trip) and near Hoyt Arboretum.

Small zoo, a lot of under construction stuff happening. We did get the full feeling of a zoo. the animals were in tight and small enclosing. They were getting ready to have a concert there. the parking was crowded but not really that expensive. The train ride was a rip off. Save your money it does a small figure 8 and that's it. I guess it is something to do if your bored and want to get out the house. A bit over priced. Their was nobody at the information booth to tell us anything. About half way through we finally were able to get a map of the place. Thought it would had been bigger. I did like the idea of getting pictures at the different locations through out the zoo.

Conveniently located in Washington Park. You can arrive at the zoo by car, bus, train, and trail. There are many other options nearby such as the children's museum, Rose test garden, and other Washington Park activities. The zoo allot of construction going on right now to improve the experience but there is still great value! There is a train for youngsters too ride too. The best in my mind is the elephant and the northwest exhibits! During the holidays make sure you see the zoo lights at night. The year round mild weather in Portland really helps with the experience.

This will go up to 5 stars when their construction is completed. It's a great zoo with lots to see and do. Alot of space blocked off by construction right now and exhibits are moved around.

I would give it a higher review except it's undergoing major renovations until 2020. This is a great zoo for taking the kids. They have lots of interactive displays and exhibits. You can tell that they really take pride in giving the animals the best home they can.

We love our zoo! There is always a zoo helper to answer questions about the animals and offer other information about them. The animals are so beautiful and well cared for. And it is just a joyfull place!

3rd time, I went there on the middle of October. It was great as before (for kids). Halloween activities inside.. the kids love it. No last star 'cause many long-term construction sites and lack of maintenance in some areas.

It was free zoo day, yesterday. It was a blast rediscovering the Oregon Zoo I've known for almost all my life. The nature discovery center- new!- had helpful information on how to help the environment and had posted volunteer opportunities for nature conservation activities.

Great day for the zoo. Not that any day wouldn't be. While lest too the new upgrades, it is great too see the animals.
This is a great Zoo and gives you opportunity to see all most all animals all the time.
Less a schedule one. Don't forget to hydrate on those sunny days. Bring the extra savings that you would like to bring something home. Atm's available.

This zoo obviously cares about the animals. Great paths and multiple view points for most animals. Frequent food and beverage stops. Bathrooms after well placed and ask have changing tables.
New engagement center is great!

Overall, not a bad zoo at all. Lots of near animals. Biggest problem was the small enclosures for a lot of the animals. They deserve more space if they are being forced to live there for our entertainment.

Went to the Oregon Zoo on February 1, 2020 because a co-worker told me that it was going to be free. I was super excited to see the Zoo in my new city. Too bad a big chunk of it was under construction. I did not mind that it was raining because I was still excited to go. I just wish there was more to see. Certain animal areas were closed, food places were closed, and glad it was free. I am giving it 4 stars because even though I was disappointed about the lack of animals the staff was really friendly. Every staff member from those taking questions about the lions, to security, to the vendors were all friendly and did a great job. I will probably go back again and it will be after construction has ended. Hopefully I will find it more enjoyable after that.

We went to zoo lights last night. Was good but not what it used to be. I remember high school choirs singing holiday songs. More nocturnal animals available for viewing could use better indexation of what animal's are available for viewing. All and all was a great time dont let me bring you down. The lights are amazing and great photo opportunities with loved ones!

As far as zoos go, it's a good one. There's always something to see, and even when it's busy it's not so crowded so that you can't enjoy it.
Get a map, though, it can be easy to get turned around.

Beautiful zoo, well managed, most animals are happy and definitely well cared for. Nice displays, the way they handle some animals like the elephants is great. Worth the admission with a slight discount if you got there with the surface train transportation, just show the receipt.

My family and i went to the zoo last Sunday. it was a great experience until we decided that we were hungry and wanted to eat at the Africa rain forest cafe. upon walking in it was okay, we ordered our food and watched it just being thrown on the tray in a pile i paid walked into the dinning room area and was disgusted! There was food all over the floor the tables were not wiped down. the condiments station was nasty food and condiment drippings everywhere. after wiping the table down with wipes i brought we sat down to eat our food and were very disappointed. my burger was plain and burnt, my moms chicken sandwich was plain and the chicken was dry. I refused to get condiments on my sandwich because of how nasty the station looked. I paid $45 bucks to eat there. :(

Fun zoo with many types of animals. Can spend most of a day there without seeing everything so wear good walking shoes. Don't be too disappointed if a few of the creatures aren't around, they all have different sleep cycles so respect them.

Traffic and parking are horrendous but there's a MAX stop just for the zoo so save yourself a headache and ride the train.

The gift shop is decent, sure there's plenty of ridiculously overpriced things but there's also reasonable goods. They have tons of penny flattening machines if you're on a super tight budget or just want to collect them all. Speaking of Pokemon go there are dozens of stops there so enjoy the lions alongside the pikachus.

The Oregon Zoo is such a fun place to go. It's the place to go when your great- niece comes to visit. The animals are well cared for, and seeing them in nearly natural habitats is refreshing. Watching the otters is my favorite. The caretakers and staff are quick to answer questions and interact with the guests.

I really enjoy taking my family to this zoo but both times we have gone it had been under construction. The first time we went the train wasn't running at all and this time you paid $4 to have it drive in a little loop because there was a problem with the regular track that they didn't know when would be resolved. Also sections and buildings in the walk through were closed for construction. Looking past these issues it is a beautiful zoo with a lot of fun and educational exhibits and I would recommend going if you can. There is a lot of walking involved and you should plan on spending the entire day there if you want to see everything.

This was a nice visit to the zoo. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would have rated it higher but the train did not go through the park like most zoos. The train ride was not worth the $4 a person.
