This was pretty cool. Loved the place. Getting there was a bit of a challenge because parking is so limited. Lots of construction made navigation of the zoo challenging and limited the exhibits but loved the zoo.

The Zoo Lights in the winter are awesome. There is a cool real mini steam train to ride. It's a big place, you'll spend several hours here if you want to see everything.

It was pretty good. My feet hurt from walking but that's not there fault. I generally do feel like keeping animals locked up Is wrong. But the lights were amazing there was so much effort put into the lights! It was a really good time overall

Initially, I was going to give "The Zoo" a 1-star rating considering that they would not even let me ride any of the elephants!?!?
But after some thought I have decided to rate it at 5 stars, and here is why...
This zoo has a huge selection of animals from all parts of the planet, and the animals all look very happy as well as taken care of in their habitats.
Not to mention the park is very large, I have found that if you make a point to see every animal in the zoo and do every activity with your kids, you could find yourself spending anywhere from 3 to 5 hours entertained.
Downside, the Food and Drink carts are very expensive, so what I recommend is to bring snacks for the family as well as eating before you go.
And unfortunately I do not believe that they allow any type of small flasks filled with outside alcohol inside the zoo, nor do they allow those Starbucks cups that every mom owns filled with outside alcohol either. :/
So "Parents" who are going to the "Zoo" with their "Kids", don't even try it.

Many of the exhibits were closed. We didn't have a chance to see a lot of the animals because of this. The prices within the zoo are way too high. Not to mention over half of the places that offed food or drinks were shut down too. Other than that our visit was alright.

Great zoo! Perfect place to spend a morning. Really well thought out paths and walkways so that you don't ever get too crowded or jam papcked. Lots of ways to see animals from multiple viewpoints. There are also good zoo keeper notes and a variety of typical and atypical exhibits. Make sure to check out the elephants! There is a lot of really cool background on elephants.

Was like the beginning of Jurassic Park. We were walking around wondering where all the animals were. It was an ok zoo. Have been to cities less than half the size of Portland with 3 times the animals. I did enjoy seeing the elephants and condors.

The zoo is great. I mean, it could be better with wolves or more animals or whatever. But I absolutely love it here. Especially the awesome events they have where there's beer and NO kids allowed. Yeah, you heard that right. The zoo. Beer. No kids. Hell yeah.

This was the only tiger we saw. Other exhibits blocked off to us because they wanted to make more money selling concert tickets and private exhibits. Much of the zoo was under construction. Hardly any animals to see. A terrible waste of money, and you won't get any of your money back for exhibits they've closed off to you. No apologies. A ripoff.

Great zoo. Not only do they have a lots of great exhibits but also some fun side things can be done to break up the visit for younger children. Take train ride, or visit the petting barn, plus some other fun hands on exhibits. Lots of construction going on so somethings are not open, but its still fun.
There are the typical food stands, but you can also bring your own food items for sack lunches which great with young kids.

We love the zoo and have been members for many years. We will not be renewing our membership until after the construction. Although perhaps necessary, there is too much construction going on for too long to make the membership worth it right now.

That being said, our kids love the zoo and feel that the completed enclosures provide a great viewing experience and educational opportunities.

I love that they fed their painted dogs a deer carcass when I visited. Truly the best experience I've ever had at a zoo. Watching them fight over the carcass like they would in the wild was special and educational. I will never forget that experience.

Lots of remodeling and animals gone. Very nice otherwise. Easy to get around. Several areas that were fun were the giraffes, pink flamingos, harbor seals, monkeys, and the otters. Oh and my great niece favorite part was the stinking penguins area. I got a chuckle out of that.
