Still a lot of construction going on which takes away from the experience.

We went on a Friday morning and it was still a challenge to find a parking spot. And the pay meter was less than cooperative. Also, make sure you know your parking spot number before you head to pay, you need to input it in the meter.

Today happened to be field trip day for many schools, so the zoo was very crowded.
There are a few things I think should be changed/updated around the zoo. There are no water fountain/refill stations between the entrance and the big lawn that's used for eating/birds show/concerts. After there I only saw one more somewhere in Africa I believe.
.
The paper maps are helpful, but I'd like to see someone design an app that shows real time where you are on the map. Marking all exhibits, food carts, water fill stations, and especially the bathrooms which can be difficult to find in a hurry through a crowd. The app can even have construction updates. Feeding schedules, education/talk schedules, etc. I didn't actually pull my phone out at all while at the zoo, but if there was a useful app I would definitely use it.

I personally feel the admission to the zoo is too expensive for what you get, (nearly $20 per adult!) If your going to go more than once or twice a year a pass may be a better option for you depending on the age of your kids. The zoo does however offer a military discount ($2 off the regular admission price) and it also participates in the Zoo for All program that provides reduced admission to those that receive certain government assistance plans making admission $5 per person! And last they offer a discount $1.50 off per admission if you ride Max and show proof.
