I absolutely love going to the zoo. I don't usually take photos, cause I'm trying to enjoy the animals. So I snapped this one adorable picture of the "painted" dogs sleeping in a tub together!
I wish food wasn't so overpriced. Only thing I have ever disliked about going here.
So awesome i have only visited it once but super awesome!!
The Zoo with the family never gets old. Baby loves the bears and we always see them first, maybe next time we go the opposite way.
Not a lot of interaction with animals; just looking and taking pictures is pretty much all you can do. Also, not a lot of animals because lots of places are "under construction". Everything is also really expensive.
We love it and now that the new polar bear area opens it will be better.
Wait to visit until 2020. Almost everything is closed down or under construction. :(
I love the zoo. The animals are awesome I think there is nothing wrong with it
Why must I pay for entrance when I only want to ride from one end of the park to the other....smh.
We recently moved to Oregon and recieved a membership as a gift. The zoo is absolutely GORGEOUS! There is a huge variety of animals, all in very well-maintained habitats. Each habitat has great hands-on educational material and relevent, interesting information about the animals. This is great place for travelers and natives alike, of all ages!
Wow! So much for appreciating our military! Unless you are the actual active/retired military member you're pretty much SOL for getting into the zoo at a discount. No matter if you are a spouse or dependent with valid military ID - which gets you discounts at many stores, even some smaller Mom & Pop stores, and into military bases worldwide......just not into the zoo! Works really well if the soldier is deployed and the family would like to visit the zoo..........
My daughter tried to go to the zoo lights this winter, and showed up with a group of her friends and the family Zoo membership card. She was refused entry by staff and told that she had to have a Zoo membership card with her name on it. Never in our 25 years of Zoo membership have our children been required to have individual membership cards with their names on them. If this is a new policy, the Zoo should have sent us 6 cards instead of 2 and informed us of the change.
Great way to spend the day. Also worthy of the money spent.
4 due to a lot of it being under construction. The animals were beautiful and despite being sleepy had some active moments my favorite was the eagle.
Always something new every time we come. The new elephant lands is amazing! My daughter is a ZooTeen and it is an amazing opportunity and experience for her.
The smallest elephant was hitting his head on a door repeatedly. I love what zoos do and what they're trying to do, but watching that made sad and question what they're doing.
cheaper to take the max then to pay parking tolls, great business strategy.
The zoo is great, Zoo Lights is a total waste of time. The lights are beautiful, but the vehicle traffic getting there and the foot traffic once you're finally there is insane. Not to mention, the parking lot was full. And after all that, we only saw the elephants and seals (sea lions?).
Even though I am not a fan of zoos, I understand that it's protected from poachers and other threats. The animals are cared for and well taken care with love. Plan to spend at least 2 hours at the zoo and taking the MAX (public transportation) is a better option.
The Oregon Zoo lights were amazing! The train ride around the park was entertaining and enjoyable for all ages. There are many different animals to see. They offer certain discounts for those who are members of accredited zoos which is very nice because it gets expensive for parking in Portland and tickets per person.
Good for visit and to see animals lots of places to stop. Only issue was they did not have lids for soda drinks
Great service
Really fun for Kids
Went with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandchild. Always a great time! The grandbaby loves the ducks, fish, and giraffes, and I like the condors and the chimpanzees. The grounds are immaculate (as always) and the enclosures are clean and clear. The only drawback is that after we get rain, the duck pond display is murky and you can't see the ducks diving and swimming underwater. Still a great time!
Awesome zoo with a wonderful collection of animals. Make sure not to miss the fruit bats!
I went here and it was extremely busy, but everything still flowed well and the exhibits and animals were well kept.
The zoo was filthy, the animals look so sickly in fact a baby elephant died a week after our visit. There were no zebra, gorilla, tiger, lion, few monkeys no orangutans no panther, no hippo no rhino. It was pathetic. Ill never go back.
The Oregon Zoo maintains my childhood's heart and captivates my adult love. This is and forever will be my favorite zoo of all time.
I love the Oregon zoo! The new elephant exhibit is looking pretty awesome!
I went to spend time with the kids, but was slightly disappointed that a few exhibits were not open. I suppose that happens year-round.
Wish there were more attractions, but my kids really love it, so that makes me love it.
Would be nice to go to this place and see all the animals without the construction seems like they always doing something new u can't ever go with out seeing construction work
There are only a few places in Oregon to really view captive animals. This is a family favorite. I've been a zoo member for just over 6 years. My family and I have been here dozens of times. Always learn something new every time we visit. My kids absolutely love those elephant ears. Who doesn't for that matter. It's been exciting to see the Zoo continually evolve and progress over the years. New enclosures being built all the time. I really wish the train would resume it's old route to Washington Park. I am beginning to think it will never get back to its glory days.
We enjoyed it. Construction is a bit of a bummer but the expansion of zoo exhibits helps with the quality of life of the animals in care.
Oregon Zoo is in so much transition right now that many of the grandchildren's favorite animals weren't even around.
Great for kids and inventive displays. Too bad for the construction right now
Nature Conservancy and Beauty Abound. Lots to see and do. Wear comfy shoes, plan for weather and explore!
I took my granddaughter to the zoo this past Saturday and was very disappointed. I grew up in Portland and have many great experiences there. However, this time all the large animals were not even there due to construction lasting until 2020. There was no mention of this on the website. It would have been nice to offer a couple of dollars discount due to the inconvenience. The train ride was also a disappointment. I understand wanting to make the zoo a better place for the animals but it would have been nice to be forewarned. If this was my first experience at the Portland Zoo I would never return.
Cute little zoo lots of pokestops great for the zoo lights
Still one of the best zoos to visit. Great for kids.
There food was way over priced an they charge $3.50 for a water! Other then that we had a lot of fun!!
This zoo is much nicer than what I'm used to in California. Much greener, weather was cooler and an all around nice atmosphere. My only complaints were that some of the exhibits were closed. It is also a workout to get around this zoo, lots of hills. Granted I was pulling a wagon. Full of kids and supplies.
It is very beautiful, clean, tidy and the extensive tour. Worth a visit. To consider: bring water and comfortable shoes.
There is still construction going on but there is still plenty to see! Beautiful Zoo
Very interactive zoo. Great for visitors from out of town.
Big zoo with many different food choices. Many animals and different shows play on the lawn. At Christmas and New year's, they have an awesome animal Christmas light show.
I love visiting the zoo. Check online for deal days
It s okay for a children and definitely not for adults. The fair price is 10$ not (18$ + parking fee(2$/hr)).
Zoo lights were amazing. However, next time I would choose a less busy weeknight rather than the weekend before Christmas. Huge crowds and tough getting a parking space after4:30 pm. The train ride was a nice respite for the adults and kiddos.
Love the zoo with Sierra my beautiful girl. Africa zoo in p town
Lots of animals and it has concerts on Saturday nights. The Roots played there this past Saturday.
Not impressed. Things are expensive and a lot is under construction. My first visit was great back in 2016 and I couldn't wait to show my family. Very disappointed
I have been to the la zoo the San Diego zoo and Sacramento zoo but I have to say this place steals the show for me. I don't know if it's all the narural greenery and the environment for the animals, but it looks amazing. Like you are in the wild. The animals are so lively and it's something you don't see in other zoo's. There was some construction going on as of October 2019 but that didn't bother me. I told myself how great a place to even get better.
Always love going to the zoo! We went on a 95 degree day, and it actually wasn't bad. Lots of tree covers and misters and places to cool off.
Do not cheat yourself in bypassing this zoo Experience.
What a beautiful park! The landscaping is great and the exhibits aren't to be missed. The giant tortoises and condors were highlights for me!
Would be nice if the work was done and you could see all the animals.
Very nice zoo and constantly updating and expanding the exhibits. Very educational with lots of learning resources. We love you Lily, you will be missed.
4 stars because many of the big attractions are under construction. We purchased our tickets online, which was helpful to compare prices and determine if we wanted to also purchase any of the add-ons. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was busy. I don't recommend the 6min (round trip) train ride as you don't see much.
The Oregon Zoo is a construction zone. Africa is closed until 2020. Polar bear area also under construction. The cost is becoming prohibitive at $18.
Very nice, s lot of renovations being done right now, staff is knowledgeable of animals, it was a lovely experience
Went for zoolights. Most the lights on the train ride after the station were burned out. Altogether just slightly run down but it was still fun. Took my younger sister and she had fun. Also whenever I go to the zoo I always feel like half of it is closed off no matter when I go lol
The price to get in for a family of 5 is a bit ridiculous and the train ride that cost $4 each was a complete waste of money. We were there for the Easter weekend this year and we're disappointed that several exhibits were shut down for remodeling yet nobody told us that when we paid full price to get in. I feel like we had to pay full price but only got half of the experience.
