Frankly, I love the Onion; and this is a place me and my family visit quite frequently. However, there have been a few changes lately, that make me go slighly down on the rate, and allow me to explain here.
Now, both inside and out the place looks like a log cabin and its sitting next to a small lake. They also have an outside patio with a view on this lake, which I love summertime. The interior is all wood, looks super nice, ceilings are very high, and a tons of decor all over the place. The place is quite roomy, and I think I've encountered a waitlist just once, and it wasn't that long. There is also a huge parking lot, so you're unlikely to have any problems with that, mostly because the Onion features a hall for like weddings and this kind of events; so it is designed to fit a lot of people.
To the food, now, it has always been tastly here and the portions are quite generous, however, they've significantly cut the menu lately, leaving you with a lesser choice. One thing that appered to be unexpectedly small, was the Spinach Artichoke Dip (served in a bread), which was delicious nonetheless. Burgers are amazing too, I especially love those topped with onion strings, or their side of Onion Petals - no surprise, considering the place is named after those.
They are also a brewery, and the beer selection is decent, while Hefty Weiss is one of the best brews I've ever tried. Although last time, 3 pints of it left me with a terrible hangover the following morning, which never happened before...
Every time I've been here, service was just fine. Nothing extraordinary, but nobody was ever rude and there was no much food wait either. It is fine.
Place is mostly clean, but men's bathroom that should've been getting more attention from the staff.
And to the huge pro in the end, which is pricing, average check per two have always been in 50-s range after tax, which is good and fair.
