For a 4 star hotel, this is probably the worst i have stayed at. Rooms are very very dated even when we paid more for a better furbished room.

Coffee machine $27/night for rent, fridge $30/night for rent, and $5 to store each baggage after check out.

Everything is $$$ but I don t see them maintaining the hotel well.

Nowhere near a 4 star hospitality. Front desk operator was very unprofessional. The only thing good was probably the location. But I guess there are plenty of better options within the area.

Very average ... The strong point of this hotel is its location: located in the middle of NY it allows to discover the various districts in a practical way. However for the price paid we were speechless when we saw our tiny room and the bathroom completely shabby with paint peeling off the walls. We went to reception (I confirm the previous opinions to know that they are not pleasant yet I speak English!) We explained that for the price it is abnormal to have a room in this state, after 10 minutes we are offered another room this time of a suitable size although the bathroom is again dilapidated. The receptionist explains to me "that in France also we put beautiful photos on the internet and that the size is often smaller", except that beyond the size the condition of the bathrooms is just abnormal ... A cleaning lady explained to us that the hotel must be redone in a year ... We understand better !! Do you want to go to an outlet? The reception will tell you to go to Woodbury because they are commissioned to sell the trips, and when you ask for information for Jersey Garden they turn their back on you explaining that it sucks. In short. I think we can do better than this hotel ... Attention also to the doorman who did not even warn us that our driver had arrived when we had asked AND that the driver had notified the hotel of his arrival, in big he has an interest in placing customers in a taxi so he does not care about the others, yet the plane does not wait.

Overall, my stay at The New Yorker was great! The room was well kept. The location was perfect for where I was going. The staff was polite, however when I checked out on Sunday they had charged my account 3 SEPERATE times for a prepaid trip. When I contacted them, they said there was a mishap in the system and my card was charged incorrectly. Pay attention to your bank statements after you stay here! I basically was charged twice for a two nights stay.

The hotel is rated as 4*. Facilities aren't anywhere near that rating. As a guest, you are confronted by hidden charges on check-in for facilities such as WiFi. We have traveled the world and this is the first time that we have been charged for WiFi. The location is what wins people over, as it is excellent. However it shouldn't be a reason to exploit guests.

Art deco, dated yes but its a feature and that is so good. Basic rooms no beverages, but there are vending machines you can access on certain floors. Very central only a few blocks walk from main streets and points of interest such as The Empire State Building. Great friendly staff!

Nikola Tesla, great Serbian inventor, born in Smiljan in former Austrian Hungarian Empire, today in Croatia, lived here from 1933-1943, whose discoveries in the field of alternating electric current advanced the USA and the rest of world into the modern industrial area.

Worst experience would not recommend friends and family to stay at this hotel. After a long flight I had to stand in a long queue just to check in, when I got to the front desk the receptionist was extremely rude and thought she was doing me a favor and only to realize that the manager was cancelling reservations without informing guests who booked in advance. Rooms are very outdated and not worth it. Time square is also far from the hotel. Every time you enter the hotel you have to show you stay there which is really annoying.

Beautiful views and great location. A guest's room had a strong smell of cleaning agents and there was an empty wine bottle and cup not picked up by the cleaning staff. Other than that, these rooms are decently accommodated. Rather than a coffee maker in your room, you may need to buy a cup from the cafe in the lobby. You may sacrifice some amenities for the central location and views of the Empire State Building.

Very good, it is close to the square garden and also to a Starbucks for breakfast and a McDonald's for lunch
(Starbucks and McDonald's are across the street, in front)
And the best thing is that it is close to the subway

One of our employees went to New York for a conference and stayed here. Prior to his arrival, we wanted to pay for the room on the company credit card, instead of reimbursing him for the expense. Heidy was extremely helpful, making the process very easy and our employee's stay very smooth. Thanks!

Very clean but very small rooms. To be expected in New York, but maybe smaller desk/dresser furniture to maximize the space. Guest services were polite and helpful. Quite hotel. Easy access in and out. Doormen were very polite and professional.

Hotel well located, but sins for its service. Room too small, I had to ask for a fridge. And he sinned even more for the care of his employees. I just found a kind and helpful attendant. Everyone else has no patience to understand our Portuguese or Spanish. In the cafe, the same thing. A menu with three options that, as I did not like, because we are not in the habit of having lunch for breakfast, I had coffee, milk and toast with butter. In a next season, never this hotel.

Besides New York's caotic atmosphere this hotel was relatively nice. The elevators did take a while, but they did have a note saying that. The room was really cool, but it did have it's faults, but nothing really big. The room was nice and was in good condition, but the beds were a big small. The people were very nice and always offered to help us to our rooms.

Great location with 3 subway stops outside, friendly concierge, many amenities, diner and restaurant in the bottom floor, and great rooms. Went for my Mom's birthday and they sent us complimentary champagne! From the workout room to the business center and historical mini museum, all the extras were wonderful, and the room was, too! Excellent views, housekeeping, and comfy beds!

Very nice hotel, the room we had was spacious with a nice view. The bathroom was quite small but functional, very "art deco". The positive: very good beds, very very professional and friendly staff, ideally located: close to Time Square and Madison Square, with a metro station close by. I loved.

Rooms seem to vary depending on how you book. Go through website and get renovated rooms and updated amenities, book through deal site and stay in rooms that while clean, are a bit run down. It's conveniently located to station. Very busy/bustling hotel.

Arrive at 4pm to a massive line to check in. In all check in took 45mins. Rediculous, with advancements in modern technology this hotel cannot streamline the check in practices. Some staff were friendly, but some staff were hardened new yorkers who offer no help. The room itself was fine, but for the cost, the staff and overall experience was terrible. If staff are not friendly and inviting then they should implement technology so guests should not have to interact with the staff. ie. card readers to call elevators and electronic check in. what a novel idea!

great
