It's a class trip for my daughter's school. The kids had a great time seeing the difference in animals and the importance of our ecosystem. They loved the great big white sharks. The only disappointment is the cancellation of the sea lion show due to the rainy weather. Overall a wonderful experience.

Terrible. Nothing like it used to be; you'll spend 60 bucks with your family for a mere 30 minute (if you're lucky) visit. There is only one exhibit, which is easily trumped by the aquatic exhibit at the free Staten Island Zoo (it looks an awful lot like it, too), and an 8 minute uneventful sea lion show. For 60. Damn. United States Federal Reserve Notes. Not only that, but I was looking to buy some overpriced churros, but they did not, for an exceedingly poignant reason, accept cash, so I was forced to purchase these overpriced churros with a credit card.
Sad!

One of the oldest aquariums in the USA. It's not big and can be covered within a couple of hours. The best part of the aquarium is the aquatheater. The sea lions are well trained. I am not sure if they are harmed during training but the message they convey along with the trainers is very good and something to consider seriously. With the help of WCS, NYA is definitely helping our oceans.

I paid 30 dollars and the aquarium is still under construction. NY Aquarium the needs to be $15. I saw everything less then 30 minutes. This aquarium needs to be fix ASAP. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY

AWEEESOME place & Stephanie is an awesome Sea Lion trainer & nice person 2 talk 2. I really loved the Shark exhibit & we saw staff in the 1st fish tank scuba diving & cleaning up the tank. I wasn't there since hurricane Sandy & boy did that shark exhibit change & it's much nicer now walking into the tunnel & seeing soooooo much more fish & not the old Tiger sharks just swimming in a small tank in circles. The male Sea Lion in the 1st exhibit has some kind of characteristics & Bruser was pretty fun 2 watch @ the show.

3 stars at the time I visited and wrote this review.
Its probably 5 star but most of the exhibits were closed and there wasn't to much to see or review. I will have to revisit.
Short review but I got a chance to see some amazingly huge turtles. I mean these turtles were gigantic. If you go to my aquarium photos you will see a picture of the giant turtles in 360 degrees. I couldn't help but take a nice panoramic shot. Enjoy your visit make sure to call before you go to see the exhibits. If you are looking for something particular make sure the exhibit is open
Good luck
I liked this place and have to revisit for a better review.
I enjoyed my time here

A beautiful place....even though didn't get to go inside because the line was very long and I wasn't being being patient to stand under the scorching heat of the sun:) But this is a really good place that I must say.

The aquarium is located at coney island and is accessible either through the boardwalk or directly across the subway station. Nice place which does a lot of work to conserve the ocean and spread awareness about the danger of e.g. plastic. Would recommend this aquarium and the sea lion show to anyone visiting NYC

The Aquarium is an adventure into the water world of our dreams . Each display is organized beautifully with warnings , instructions , and invaluable facts about each organism in each tank. The new shark exhibit is one of the best exhibits I have ever seen since frequenting this establishment . To be honest this is the best experience I have ever had at this aquarium . I will definitely be returning .

Great place to bring the kids during the summer. Parking is available at a price. It's close to the highway. There is a vast selection of sea creatures to view. The tank was my favorite. It was worth the trip. Staff is very knowledgeable. Food prices are like going to the movies so plan accordingly.

This used to be such an awesome place. Now it's very underfunded and nothing is really outstanding. It's an ok aquarium for the price, but it's been under construction for what seems like forever, and not every tank is full.

We went last summer, I recommend you arrive early (the first thing that opens the aquarium).
If you arrive early, you can enjoy it better and it will be much faster than you think. If you arrive after 10/11 a.m., it will be very late and you will have to make long lines from the purchase of the ticket to enter the different areas of the aquarium

I have been coming here since I was little and wish they would change up the exhibits. Next summer the aquarium will be complete after the hurricane. Looking forward to seeing the new and updated exhibits.

Sea lion show is the best and this aquarium has no crabs! Admittedly small, they do cram a lot of of sea life such as sharks, walruses, otters, and penguins, into it. Also, their 4D experience is fun.

The place was good but it was pretty small it was more like a look n go you only stay inside for for 30 to 1 hour after that your out the place is small there is some shows 1 or 3. I expected more so I was disappointed

It was great but not amazing. It has to do mainly with the small number of exhibits available. But its a four because it is very beautiful with some amazing tanks for sharks and other creatures. Its nice but nit supernice. However it is appropriate for a crowded place such as NYC

This place was better before hurricane sandy. A lot of construction still going on and hopefully it will be great again. They have great tanks on display but the bigger items are lacking.

End of May 2018 - please be aware that construction is still going on, therefore the tickets are discounted. The remaining part is a little dated but still nice to look at. If you don t watch any of the shows you will be probably in and out within one hour. I am very excited to see what s coming.

Great place. My girls had so much fun. We did have to wait in line for the Octopus and Shark exhibit due to coronavirus. The Sea lion show was entertaining. The food is over priced though I would recommend bringing your own food or eat elsewhere. Other than that good place for family to enjoy.
