It is a beautiful place and very suitable for children, both for the spectacle that it offers of the sea lions, and for the consevacionista philosophy that presides it. However, it is a bit "short" in terms of the spaces available.

The New York Aquarium was amazing, the show, the sharks, everything... I just think maybe they need a place to stay more longer, with food, music, entertainment for the kids and adults.

Was a great show.

Was a great show.
Especially suitable for families.

The new shark exhibit was amazing for my toddlers. They couldn t believe the sharks and fish were swimming above them. Slightly disappointed that the new aqua play zone is still under construction. Just wish the aquarium was bigger and had more to see. There s a direct path to the boardwalk so it s an easy walk to Luna Park and Nathans.

Better than it was a few years after Sandy. It's a nice small aquarium, but quite a few things are still closed. Sea Cliffs and another section are still under repairs. Staff said they were just awarded the FEMA funds recently, so I hope to see more open in the near future!

Paid $80 bucks to see a couple of sea lions and a turtle. The trip time was of less than an hour. They have absolutely nothing in to show case. I went against the reviews assuming the NYC brand it carries. Don't waste your time or your kiddos expectations. Camden aquarium is like 10,000 times better than this..

They have made the parking where you can only entry from the left turn as idiotic as possible.

If anything they should make it so people turn a right on to it. As it is now the light goes three four times without a single car making it into the lot. Sitting here for over an hour now 350 feet from the lot. This is not the first time I have seen this.

Only 3 star until it opens up some more exhibits. It is sadly now a shell of what it used to be as they rebuild from Sandy.

The parking lot is very expensive. $40 for more than 3 hours. The exhibits and relatively few. However, the shark exhibit and sea lion are definitely worthwhile. The 4D theatre is also enjoyable, though the only "effects" are done puffs of air and vibrating seats. Could definitely have used some water spray. To enjoy your visit, you should arrive at 9:30am to 10:00am, when they open. Otherwise, the lines are long and the crowds get congested inside. Also, purchase your tickets online; that's much more efficient than waiting in long lines at the ticket counter.

It's still under construction, but for what they have it keep kids engaged. Note, the touch tank closes from 11 to 12:50 and if your not first by the seal exhibit it's hard to see when they do the feeding demonstration. The staff is courteous and knowledge and the "Quests" are great. It's definitely worth a visit.
Can't wait till the construction is done and open up fully. The renderings I have seen look amazing.

I'm a New York resident and I haven't been here since....before Hurricane Sandy did some damage to it back in 2012-2013 and let me tell ya... it is a beautiful Aquarium. Please! I encourage you to come...come alone if you'd like, or bring the family, or even a date. Trust me you will enjoy this place and the photo oppertunities here are great. It isn't a huge place all around. If you run through the exibits you can be done within 35-40 minutes but if you trully appreciate Marine life, take your time to enjoy sealife here and you'll end up being there the whole day. The staff is friendly, the place is exceptionally clean both inside and out, and it feels new(as if its just been newly constructed). Its an indoor and outdoor experience, with exibits of animals as well as outside and a gift shop. The ticket prices are fair with the option of getting a membership to visit it often as well as The Wildlife Conservation Society's 4 Zoos here in New York. There are plenty of Restrooms, and a Food Truck inside that serves Seafood, as well as a Sealion Show that is scheduled to go on 3 times a day. There is a visitor's Parking Lot but I have to admit it's pricey but if that doesn't bother you at all....believe me you'll enjoy The NYC Aquarium just as I did. Thank You and Enjoy.

Although they are not completely open yet, (they are still rebuilding after Sandy and they are building an entirely new section), it was completely worth the 3-hour drive to get here.
The displays that they do have open are very good. But, it's the sea lion show that made it worth the drive. It was absolutely amazing!!

I love this Aquarium! The line to get in was atrocious. But we got in after 30 minute wait in the sun. Then we were off to see the Shark exhibit. Another line awaited us. Myyyyyyyy goodness.45 minutes to a hour wait to see the new exhibit.

Best aquarium ever!!! The admission ticket is not expensive for the experience, $49.90 for two people. They open at 10 am and closes at 6 pm. The ticket admission does not include food, beverages, and parking, but the ticket is valid for the whole day. It was worth the price. Parking was $18 for 0-3 hours and $25 for more than 3 hours. They have food trucks inside if you choose to get food. I had a great experience there. My favorite moment was the 4D aqua theater. The place was clean and equipped with hand sanitizer at every exits and entrance.

If I could go every weekend I will. Been here 3 's in my life and still have a blast. The best part is after you can walk right into Coney island Beach and enjoy the rest of the day at the beach, boardwalk and the rides. Great place to enjoy w/ family.

Most of the exhibits were closed for construction. The shark exhibit was the only thing open with a one hour wait. concessions were push carts / food trucks with indignant staff. Very overcrowded with urban and angry people. Complete waste of time.

I came here for the first time and it'll be my last. Half the attractions in the aquarium are closed or are under construction. Also, it absolutely broke my heart to see the sea turtle completely alone swimming in a tank without any plants, fish, or any other animal. It honestly looked like a prisoner in a jail cell and honestly I don't see how this establishment believes this is ethical. I was in and out in 45 minutes. Definitely not worth the hour and 30 minute train ride.

I visited here once with an annual pass that grant you to visit 6 different locations unlimitedly (NYC Zoos/Aquariums). So without considering the entrance fee, it's great place to chill for a day. Still small and crowded though.

If it would be a option for no star would be great, this place a huge ripoff they charge so much money and still charge a lot of money for parking, this whole place does not take more then 20min.
Please spend your money on different things...

The fur seal show is great! A ticket cost $ 12, a child of 4 years is free, you can go in several times if you put a stamp on your hand at the exit. The fish in the aquarium are super, the child is delighted.

This is a fun family outing. A lot of the experience is outdoors so dress appropriately. We got to see some cool fish. The penguins, otters and seals were my favorite. They have daily shows so check to see when online or call ahead. They are under construction now so you won't see a lot of the exhibit which is a bummer. Would recommend coming when they are done. I didn't see any options for guided tours so keep that in mind as well. Will definitely come back once construction is completed.

Buy your tickets online and get there right when it opens. This place gets crowded, fast. You can park in their lot but if you get there early enough, metered street parking is a lot cheaper. The new shark exhibit is admittedly awesome. Tickets are not cheap. There are several areas that are not handicapped accessible, and places where you cannot bring strollers. The exhibits are great.

Fun and Informative. With lots of space and attendants, you could easily spend half a day here with your young child. As one should expect, lots of fish tanks displaying various marine life from small fish to big fishes and sharks complete with tidbits and interactive displays. Using Sea World as my basis for comparison, the Sea Lion show should have been much longer despite the MC's entertaining performance. It took longer to fill the stands than the show's running time.
The 4-D theater show was excellent and spot on...a short BBC documentary.
The shark tank for me was the highlight of the whole place. I won't say much on this except to be prepared to be amazed. The kids would love it.
At the time I was there, there were 2 more displays under construction: Spineless (octopus and jellyfish alike) and PlayQuarium (not sure what this is going to be), but both would be welcomed additions to the park as it is small in nature.
Overall, highly recommended.

It was extremely expensive. And one of the workers was completely rude when I asked a simple question. Talking trash to me. It is a sad shame they don't train and screen their workers before placing them with the public.
