A cold, gloomy, winter day. But still a nice experience; this place is transcendent.

We did the troll hunt with an 8 and 2 year old. Highly recommend this! Also visited the Children's Garden and the kids enjoyed the multiple play areas and rope bridges.
Beautiful, majestic and peaceful in the woods. Fun and exciting in the kids area.
Great grounds. Peaceful escape from the rat race. Wonderful hiking trails. Taught both of my kids how to drive here. Great winding roads with a low speed limit. Pricey if your not a member but still worth it. Many programs for kids and adults. Wish they allowed bikes.
Illumination was delightful! Went on a peak night with tickets. Parking was a breeze. Lots of bright vested folks waving you to the lot. Full but a quick 1-2 minute walk to entrance. Entrance was a breeze. Hassel free and orderly. Lights were fantastic! Fully paved paths, polite crowds, didn't feel overly crowded even though sold out. So glad we went. Note: didn't see any bathrooms around whole path. Go before you start off! So happy we went this holiday season! Thanks Arboretum!
Loved "Illumination". It was l, as my husband said, "magical". I had him repeat what he said a few times because he's not one to say something like that. A bit crowded. Next time i maybe will leave the stroller behind. Took my 5 and two year old and they loved it.
Had lots of fun seeing the tree lights. It looked really cool!
We took our granddaughter n she really enjoyed the time there. We walked for an hour and for a two year that's a lot. She loved the scarecrow that were decorated by scouts.
This was a real cool place to go for a nice long walk. I visited with family and chatted while taking in the beautiful scenery and even learning a thing or two along the way. Good place for kids too.
Beautiful children's garden. Great place for them to explore and learn, and just plain be a kid. This summer they have an awesome "troll" exhibit. You can see one of them from the interstate.
This is a nice place to enjoy a quiet walk or bring children
Wonderful! An oasis in the midst of a stressful situation
Four seasons of exploring nature. Great plant collections, gardens, trails, butterflies, birds, and wildlife including pileated woodpeckers! Children's garden and special dog days make this a destination for the entire family. Plant clinic and library are a plus for gardening enthusiasts. Biking and cross country skiing also available.
The Arboretum has been a favorite of mine since childhood. The acreage is vast, with many varieties of luscious foliage. The children's garden is a great place to get the young ones started, as well as the summer science camp program. There are many paths for biking, running and walking. The Gingko offers healthy and fairly priced food amand there are many opportunities for education and fun experiences.
Went out hunting some trolls and was not disappointed. This was a great art exhibit and one people need to see. The grounds were beautiful as well. What a gem.
Love this place. We probably go here 2 or 3 times a month. The current troll exhibit from last year and the LEGOs this year are so much fun.
Recommend the children s garden especially during the summer.
MORTON ARBORETUM is a beautiful and wonderful venue for ALL AGES. It is a habitat to learn about nature, explore and be a kid again. All season events take place at the arboretum located in Niles, IL. SPRING & SUMMER programs may include flower & gardening shows, habitat exhibitations, children's discovery programs, concerts & more .. FALL picnics, seasonal brew/wine tasting, autumn hikes, artisanal shoppes and WINTER lights that dazzle and awe the young at heart...For those who wish to explore without the trod a service is provided around the arboretum. An enjoyable day filled with memories to be spent among family and friends, I highly recommend this outdoor gem..
Too pricey. It was nice but I've been too better light displays for the holidays for lower fee.
Definite place to be surrounded by earth life force!
I never realized how big this place is. There are walking and biking trails, a restaurant/cafe, endless information on plants and trees of all kinds, and a playground for younger children. They currently have a walk where you can hunt for trolls (see photo).
Tree lights illumination was Gud but we went on super cold day
Wish they would let more dogs in. It s so amazing though.
Mega expensive but well maintained and events full!!
This is my third illumination, and it was great. Each year has been a little different layout and lights. I really enjoyed the breathing hemlocks. I would recommend it to anyone in the area, and look for the ComEd coupon if you can.
Beautiful walking paths and modern buildings but way overpriced.
Beauty surrounds you, quiet from without, peace growing within...a glimpse of Heaven.
Always a great time for the family. We enjoy walking around the grounds, especially the children's area. The kids are always tired and sad to be leaving by the end, which is a success in my book.
Beautiful and peaceful all year. It's my quiet place.
A spectacular experience where nature meets imagination and a must see if you enjoy a park-like setting.
We love going here to see the trees and nature. They have excellent events as well.
It has plenty of parking spots, and trails going from the parking area. So you can plan ahead, how many miles you want to hike.
The arboretum has a troll exhibit right now. Whimsical and fun!
Morton Arboretum is a beautiful place to walk around & just enjoy nature. The additional fun trolls & Lego figures are a plus.
The arboretum is an absolutely beautiful place to visit. This particular time we were here for the troll hunt and spent the afternoon wandering the grounds on our search. You can spend hours here not even come close to seeing everything. U cannot recommend a visit here enough.
Well-maintained trails. Easy strolling. Convenient parking throughout the grounds so that visitors can take short walks without being forced into lengthy hikes.
Excellent! Light show at this time of year is just great and the warning stations were perfect. Great hot chocolate and other drinks/snacks too.
Went on a school Field trip. Very organized, very educational. Lots of hands-on interesting activities.
Cool place to bring family/friends. Lots to walk and lots to see.
Beautiful large forest land with dense woods. The troll hunt was fun. Wednesday discounted rate is best deal. Enjoy a walk run or biking, fill your lungs with fresh oxygen.
Ever since the first time I went to The Morton Arboretum in Lisle Illinois, I was really fascinated by the different things that I found there. I especially like the children's garden there. They have a huge variety of beautiful flowers to look at and learn about.
Wonderful place to visit Outdoors and view nature at his best. Also a great place for Education about Woody plants...
Such a fun place. The troll hunt is a blast. Illumination event in Dec 2019 was incredible.
The lights festival at the Morton Arboretum is certainly the highlight of the Year for me at their location. Another thing. I was pleased to notice is that they carry the artwork of Maggie Mardis and is absolutely breathtaking if you have a chance go by and glanced at her beautiful artwork displayed in the Morton Arboretum. Kudos to you, Maggie.
Beautiful views, great area for the kids to play ALL DAY. A bit pricey for big families. We only go when we have passes for some of the family, otherwise it's not very feasible for our large family to visit more than 1 time a year. Wish prices would drop or they would have half price days.
I like this place of walking around by the river and we all go get some lunch together!!!
Went to their Christmas light display. Worth every penny.
Always a pleasure to come. I wish they had the 4 person bikes to rent so families can ride together.
I recommend it to everyone. There are many walking paths in the woods. It is recommended hiking shoes. The children's playground is made very well.
Perfect place for families and people of all ages. Great choice of walking paths, super children's park area, nice cafe for a quick bite to eat. A wonderful outdoor education experience.
Lovely place to wander among the trees and to enjoy their exhibits. Of course there are seasonal plants that make a huge impact like the daffodils. The park is adding trolls at various locations and they should be around for a few years.
A restroom along the long route would be nice. The staff interactions were all great. Very nice and helpful folks.
Great, long trails. Cafes offer great foods. Beautiful children's garden.
Been a member here for a couple of years. It's a nice destination when you're looking for something to break up the day. We also enjoy the special events they have throughout the year.
I have such mixed feelings about the Morton Arboretum. It's a beautiful and relaxing place with great events. We truly enjoy the holiday light festival. Each year they add new features that are truly unique and exciting. That said, if you go be prepared for the crowd. Here is what we have experienced each year: folks with hug strollers or wagons that take up the middle of the sidewalk while stopping randomly to take family selfies and block others from walking, families that bring flashing toys to distract their kids but that clash with the displays. Some of these toys are obnoxious and could induce seizures in folks with epilepsy. Additionally you have the folks that come with their own water bottles full of vodka and proceed to get further inebriated at the warming tent while they wait to buy the Arboretum's spiked drinks. There are volunteers all over but none seem willing to help people move along or get off the sidewalk so others can move. I would encourage you to go early to see the lights before it gets too crazy.
