Have to remember from where I have been. Reminder that life is not soo bad but could be alot worse and to treat people like you would like to be treated and to have a little compassion toward others. Did not go there to eat but to remember how it was. So here is a comment. It is what it is. It was what it was and it will be what it will be. # Marck. The only control we have is ourselves and sometimes that is hard enough.

The Midnight is one of the oldest shelters in Skid Row. They just opened the Bridge program for women a little over a year ago. They still don't have facilities for families or specifically for children. It is mainly there to help the homeless and/or addicted men.
The worst part of the place is their outdoor courtyard.
Because of various reasons, many homeless gather in the courtyard facilities to sleep, hangout or have access to their outdoor restrooms. Which used to be a total nightmare but on a recent visit I found they had completely revamped it. It's very clean, stocked with the necessities and has an attendant at all times. This has stopped the constant fighting, overt drug use to the point that people would pass out on the toilet with needles sticking out of their arms and the constant overdoses. Incremental improvements are I suppose better than none!

The Midnight Mission has been there very very long time. Many people have restarted their lives there. And there were many people that just barely make Came To Stay Alive by coming to the midnight mission. I enjoy the fact that they do have the courtyard with people can sleep. And it's kind of like a safe place to sleep hopefully won't nothing happen to you while you're in that courtyard. I don't know about the food. I don't know about what programs are offered. But I do know that 12-step meetings are there every day and that's a wonderful thing because people need access to that. In the hope that recovery is truly possible if you're willing to do it. I am grateful for such places as the Midnight Mission. It's not a hole in it but it is some sort of safety net. Where one can come and shower get a change of clothes get some toiletries and get a bite to eat and go to a 12-step meeting. And the area other services that can be accessed if you're willing to talk with the staff of the Midnight Mission that are in the position of case manager.

The Midnight Mission is a typical homeless shelter, like the Weingart, where security is a gang in themselves. They serve breakfast and dinner, and it's open to everyone. I've never stayed there, but the building is more modern day than the ancient pile of garbage,Weingart.

Showed me a different way to living. How to have compassion for those less fortunate than I have been. Ultimately making me a better person. I've learned that there is growth, even in humility. And to be humble, truly. You MUST survive humility of some type.

Overcrowded. Small food portions. Horrible neighborhood full of dope and violence like no other ive ever seen. But yea, free food-thats cool. I just wish they helped me get an apartment or a hot shower without an id. Showers are cold and i got beat up in the bathroom. Endless crime outside; i got beat up there as well. Nights sleeping outside in front of the mission are filled with endless drug deals, violence, and gross zombies. I guess i could put up with all of the above so long as the showers were hot. But they aren't. On the positive side they are open almost all the time. Word of advice: don't make any friends with the homeless in the vicinity. They are psychos, undercover bi-polar fools that will fight you and yell in your face. One guy almost fought me for not watching his backpack. Getting back on track: the overnight beds are limmited and overcrowded. I only go to this neighborhood if i am starving. I really should rate it at 1 star. Nontheless MM ends starvation when panhandling doesen't work. The police are also mean. The tv room is hot, overcrowded and stinks like straight bo. Endless crack smoking in the bathroom. This place blows. I hate drugs. For those volunteering it might be 5 stars, but homeless living in front of it with no id its -5. I just appreciate the food; its not a home cooked meal though.

They assist those truly destitute by offering workshops, GED training, vocational support, they give them the skills to be anle to succeed on their own. they also have onsite housing, consisting of over 40 appartmentments, and a full industrial kitchen to feed those in need.
This is what compassion, and caring about your fellow man and woman is all about.
A fantastc aid for those so deperate in need.

Horrible from top to bottom. Security is ghetto and the guest fluently engage into arguments and fights. Not a good place to sleep due to chronic addicts and loitering in the vicinity. They also hang around the mission restroom.

I'm unsure as to why this place still exists? Does it actually even shelter people inside anymore?

It offers a few slop meals a day, but other than that does it actually do anything to offset the enormous tax burden that it creates(and as a general rule, I usually support tax exemption for Churches and religious nonprofits).

About The Midnight Mission

The Midnight Mission is a non-profit organization that has been dedicated to helping people experiencing homelessness since 1914. The organization provides a wide range of services to help individuals and families get back on their feet and transform their lives.

One of the key services offered by The Midnight Mission is emergency shelter. The organization operates several shelters throughout the Los Angeles area, providing safe and secure housing for those in need. In addition to shelter, The Midnight Mission also offers meals, clothing, and other basic necessities to help individuals meet their immediate needs.

But the mission of this organization goes beyond just providing basic necessities. The Midnight Mission also offers a variety of programs designed to help individuals overcome the root causes of homelessness and achieve long-term success. These programs include job training, education assistance, addiction recovery support, mental health counseling, and more.

One unique aspect of The Midnight Mission's approach is its focus on holistic healing. Rather than simply addressing one specific issue or problem area, the organization takes a comprehensive approach that addresses all aspects of an individual's life - physical health, mental health, emotional well-being, financial stability - in order to create lasting change.

Another important aspect of The Midnight Mission's work is its commitment to community involvement. Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting the organization's efforts by donating time and resources to help those in need. Whether it's serving meals at one of the shelters or participating in fundraising events throughout the year, there are many ways for people from all walks of life to get involved with this important cause.

If you're interested in learning more about how you can support The Midnight Mission's work or get involved as a volunteer or donor yourself visit their website today! With your support we can continue transforming lives for generations come!
