Rooms are dated but clean. Actually it helps with the ambiance of old school opulence and charm. You have everything you need from toiletries to slippers. Bed is comfortable and sheets are of high quality. Bathroom is also dated but clean, good size and bathtub is of good size to take a bath in. There is a walk in shower separate from the tub. Front desk and staff are all excellent and polite. Awesome customer service. Definitely a good place to stay while in manila.

The present Manila Hotel perhaps needs a makeover. The carpets are old/faded & rather dusty....there is a moldy smell in the corridors and the rooms. The food seemed rather uninspired as well ... taste & flavor of the meals that we ate were not consistent during our 4 day convention there....nothing outstanding. Service at the front desk was also not consistently good (although I personally met no problems there). On the other hand, Housekeeping section was generally quick & helpful except for some misses in the beginning...the third bed was added in the room after several hours despite being paid for already upon check-in...still had to ask separately for basic toiletries for third guest (which I think should have been an automatic action on their part). Liked the fact, though, that pianists played regularly at the Lobby.

Nothing is as historic as the grand dame, from the distinctive lobby to the sampaguita-themed design of the rooms. I'm taken with the excellent pastries and local cakes at the breakfast buffet. I still can't forget the old world charm and service we had one lunch at the champagne room. Fads come and go, but there can only be one Manila hotel

Stayed here 17 days. My 3rd time staying in the area - near the embassy. Its the top place to stay, its very nice and very good staff. I really enjoyed the staff we encountered daily. Highly recommend to stay here if you are willing to pay for the top end hotels.

Luxury and elegance, that's the general feel of the place. The historic Manila Hotel may be old but it can still compete with newer hotels in terms of amenities. Service is far better than most hotels in the country.

A beautiful old-time hotel with great views of the park, Intramuros and downtown. The room we stayed in was lovely.

We ate in the Chinese restaurant, where the food was delicious and was better value than the lunch/dinner buffet. The brrakfast buffet was quite extensive, offering huge choices.

It's not the cheapest of hotels by Philippine standards but by worldwide standards it's quite reasonable.

The only negative thing is that I felt a little ripped off by the chocolatier. The price of a box of 20 chocolates was 50% more than buying 20 individual chocolates, making the price of the box by itself almost US$9/ 8 (at Apr 2015 exchange rates).

Would I stay there again? Absolutely!
