Historical building. Impressive is the security in front of the building. Every vehicle is checked. The search is even done with dogs. Before you can enter the lobby, you have to pass through another security gate as at the airport. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast offer is gigantic and varied. The old town (Intramuros) is just a stone's throw away. But as in virtually all hotels in the Philippines, something in the hotel room will be broken or dirty. Only one helps, call reception and exchange.

Restaurants and facilities are ok, but choose somewhere else if you want to want to stay in Manila. Rooms are not maintained and can be compared to a 2 star hotel. Sofitel and SHANGRI-LA Makati are better options for the same price.

One of the oldest and largest hotels in manila, it is conveniently located near jose rizal park, and other amusement and entertainment centers, as well as the many old churches of manila. Their lobby is superb, with a musical ensemble playing the piano, violin and viola. The staff are friendly and courteous. The ballrooms and convention halls are spacious. The outdoor pool is very nice. The rooms are spacious with modern amenities combined with tasteful filipiniana furniture.

Went there on two occasions within a couple of weeks time, the first being a guest at a birthday celebration, the second being part of a group who gathered for dinner after a nursing class reunion. On both occasions, I was pleased with the overall setup and the excellent service. Will surely go back on the next opportunity.

I really love the ambience of this place. This is such a wonderful and historic hotel. The Fiesta Pavillion is very gradiose. Our oathtaking was recently held here. I like the service and the crew here is very friendly and professional.

A historic hotel that doesn't lose it shine. The Manila hotel is one of the oldest hotels in manila and by just staying at the hotel you can feel that you are back in the 1900's. I gave a 2 star review because the cleanliness was not up to par for the price.

Nice hotel, the rooms are posh. The location is good. The staff is very friendly!!! Just one thing: the airport is really far, and with the traffic it can take you around 1h to get to and from.

Atmosphere and staff come together to deliver a luxurious experience. The lobby is perfect for getting to know others and unwinding after a busy day in Manila. It's central to most things we wanted to visit. As a host to many delegates to the International Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses in October/November 2019, and as one if those delegates, the Manila Hotel was so hospitable and accommodating. The atmosphere works for businesses and families so no one feels left out. The breakfast buffet is superb. Love the rain shower and view of Manila Bay. Thank you so much for the history and quality of your hotel. I'd defintely stay here again.

A world-class five-star hotel whose every personnel, from the guards outside up to the hotel assistants within, is really welcoming and accommodating to their valued guests. Their respect towards you will surely make you come back again for another stay or visit.

Meanwhile, their facilities are also well-structured, enough to be called as a high-class place of temporary accommodation.

Still the go-to staycation place for me because of the buffet food, the facade and lobby that are reminiscent of the earlier Manila era.

Valet parking can be steep, but it's subsidized if you're a guest or dine-in customer. Redt of the parking is quite limited. You can expect a challengine time when there is an event or if the hotel is full.

The pool area lacks the ambiance and landscaping that one might expect (like in Sofitel). The rooms, despite being kept clean, and maintained with an older Filipiniana design, have outdated items. These things though are not deal breakers.

Brrakfast and dinner buffet spreads are delicious, mouthwatering, and provide a great variety. Promos also lighten the expense at times.

This is an extensive review...

Upon arriving at the Manilla Hotel I was impressed initially. The lobby is beautiful and concierge and hotel staff are impeccably turned out. Very much a 5 star hotel feel. That is pretty much the height of it.

Once in the hotel room the first thing I wanted to do was have a wash. Luggage hadn't arrived in the room so I tried to phone the reception but the phone was faulty so I had to phone with my cell phone to get our luggage and a maintenance person to fix the phone. This to be fair was done promptly.

I ran myself a bath to relax in with my girlfriend and this was when I noticed mould under the tap. I assumed this must be limescale or it would have just been cleaned so I rubbed my finger along it and it immediately wiped clean below my finger indicating to me that the bathroom had not been thoroughly cleaned and this particular spot hadn't been cleaned in weeks probably. I continued to look around at this point for other hygiene considerations and though I noticed nothing else obviously hygienically unclean I did notice several other things that displeased me. Bear in mind this is meant to be a 5 star hotel....

The ceiling in the bathroom was in need of painting and the plastering job was poor quality with a clear gap and visible copper pipe protruding through the ceiling holding one of the shower heads. Tile grouting wasn't as clean as I would expect and then the bath drainage plug failed to operate so I wasn't able to empty the bath. The TV in the bathroom could only be viewed front on so its situation above the bath was pointless unless viewing whilst sitting on the toilet and the carpets needing changing in the room... I would have let all this go if not for the next thing that I experienced that I was absolutely disgusted by...

Being profoundly unimpressed by the things I'd experienced up to this point my antennas were more attuned to shoddy workmanship and cleaning. The toilet had a built in douche system whereby the person using the toilet twists a dial and it allow a plastic tap to slide out from within the toilet itself for washing the private areas. I couldn't help but delicately activate this system whilst not sitting on the toilet, mainly to see how it operated. To my horror the white plastic douche appeared covered in human faeces. It had never been cleaned. Probably not an obvious thing to clean I guess but none the less had I known I'd be firing water up my ass that passes over untold numbers of peoples assess before mine I would never do so.

In summary this hotel on first glance is as you would expect but upon close scrutiny it is not worthy of 2 stars and arguably could give you diseases whilst visiting.

Had this hotel been a 3 star would I have written this review? Probably not! But for a 5 star hotel it is a disgrace.
