Horrible food, Watered down fries and the burger was expensive and worse than a dollar burger at McDonald's.

Fast when it isn't super busy. If you're in the mood for icecream and fries, or you're craving a greasy burger, it's pretty good.

I love coming to the Malt Shop anytime I'm in Pagosa Springs. It's got a great location and decent food, but it's more nostalgia for me. My most recent visits have been less than fulfilling; but I'll still stop by occasionally and hope for a friendly customer service experience. But until then I'll enjoy the delicious malts!

Tense environment. Given my past experience with food service, staff at the front was short handed and it was getting to them. Watched one of the girls working argue with a man about what he ordered after overhearing him order properly. Even though it wasn't me receiving that kind of service, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Food was good though! Got four small (actually huge) chocolate vanilla swirl cones that were great for only $5.60!

Hamburgers were great, love the waffle fries. Great place to eat. Also, great ice cream!

Wow... that was the worst food ever. The fish and fries were smaller the the Gordons fish from the store. And the Philly consisted of one thin piece of meat and a greased cheese mess... and so expensive!!! Definitely not worth what we were served. SMH!!!!

I can't believe this place is up to code. As someone who works in food I was disgusted by what I could see of the kitchen. It was not busy, there was one group of three in front of us and two small families sitting down. We decided not to purchase anything and risk getting sick especially on such pricey stuff that looked so mediocre at best.

Food was average. Icecream was average. Tables were dirty and we had to clean them ourselves. All the ketchup containers were empty.

Horrible customer service. The waitress was rude, unhelpful and had no interest in her job. The shake was good, but there chile cheese dog was a mediocre boiled thing and had raw onions even though we specified no onions. We will take our business elsewhere when in Pagosa.

Nice waitress at breakfast. Great French toast. Hot coffee.

Has the best ice cream ever and IDK about the food because I only am eating the ice cream but I'm sure the food is awesome

For what it's supposed to be, which is a burger place with soft serve ice cream, the Malt Shoppe does a pretty good job. The place is always busy.

Don't go if you expect to get eclectic, gourmet, grass fed burgers, or anything vegan.

It's good ol' fried food done well.

Perennially popular local burger and malt spot on the eastern edge of Pagosa Springs. Located where 160 crosses the San Juan River, the shore-side spot offers classic burgers, onion rings, shakes and malts, etc. at reasonable prices. Sweet spot on the river for dining-in, while take-out classics like genuine Patty Melts and butterscotch milkshakes makes good fuel for the drive to Durango or Cortez.

Is usually busy but worth it! Burgers are Great, the Shakes and Cones ARE THE BEST!!!

Busy place on a hot day, but a good experience. The young staff works hard at delivering a good product in a humble location. We drop in for malts or milkshakes at least once during our annual trips to Pagosa Springs.

Excellent milk shake , and green chili cheese burger

Long line was worth the wait. Root beer floats were fabulous. Chicken tenders were a hit. Cute location by the river.

Was good. Employees just need to be better trained for when equipment breaks down an alternative system. Thank God for customers who could help and a cook in the back

It was OK. We went there for breakfast and it was about as good as Denny's.

Great little stop, the malts are delicious, line was almost out the door most of the hour we were there.

The people seemed nice but my meal was pretty bad. I really just wanted a burger and a shake but ordered the green chili tortilla burger. It was god awful. There was no tortilla but instead it was on a burger bun. Well, it was on the bottom of a burger bun with the top cut in half flanked on either side of a hamburger helper green chili soup. Weird, but not the worse part. How do you make green chili and/or a hamburger without any flavor? It was one of the worst meals I've had this year and that includes prison food.

I grew up loving the burgers here and now when I visit I have to have at least one before I leave!

Malt was ok. Service was ok but the green haired/blonde girl on the register was absolutely rude and obnoxious telling a customer to "suck it" as he was asking for her to correct his order that she got wrong.

The ice cream was good but the wait was insane, both to order and for the actual food. I don't recommend the BLT.

I stopped in for an old fashioned Burger but received a Burger like you would get at McDonald's or fill in the blank. Not a fresh ground beef Burger like I had hoped for or expected when reading their sign promoting old fashioned Burger. I also ordered French fries but received waffle fries. Those are a disappointment. Cheeseburger waffle fries and a large chocolate malt was 15 bucks

Service was great and so was the atmosphere. The burger was simple but okay. Onion rings were pretty good, but the chocolate malt was amazing.

7 pm we walk in and they say they are closed .open sign was on should teach their people to learn to turn off the open sign if they're closed. Bad service won't go back again

I've been going to the malte shoppe now for 30 years. Every time I've gone I order a large twist in a cup. Perfectly the same every time except for today. I ordered the same thing and a medium cone and a large twist came to 5 dollars and I get a small in a large cup. I go inside to have her fill the.cup Up and she completely argued and refused to make it right. Regardless I will never go back rude

Seriously awesome sweet treats and amazing milkshakes and malts. A true favorite amongst locals and visitors alike!

I'd not put a star but you have to in order to put a review. This place has terrible service. Will not be back.

We had soft serve ice cream cones in a cup. Delicious and very generous serving sizes. We come here every time we are in Pagosa Springs for a special treat. Will definitely return!

Observed one too many unsanitary practices... First off, a worker preparing and serving ice cream was on a personal phone and continued to work once done with conversation without washing hands. The cashier was also helping out with the ice cream preparations AND handing money at the same time without cleaning hands. Same two workers were touching their hair and face and continuing to prepare food. Tables, seats, and floor were filthy, I would not like to come back to this place.

Best place to stop and grab a bite! Came here everyday we could! I will always be back.

Just basic 2 flavor frozen yogurt. Didn't try the food

Poor service. Ice cream was so-so. Watched a worker eat something off of the grill and lick her fingers.

Not the best in the world, but definately the best for 60+ miles. Dont like it, then your out of luck for burgers in Pagosa. Also, their in a new location. No more dumpster.

Not impressed. Shakes were Ok. Food left a lot to be desired and the prices were outrageous for what it is. We paid about $11 per person when we could've paid half that for the same quality of food at McDonald's or Wendy's.

Our shakes, malts, and sundaes were delicious! Great treat for a day out with the family.

I'm a fan of small town burger joints, and the Malt Shoppe doesn't disappoint.

This place was pretty awesome. The shake flavors were hands down awesome! The caramel, the toffee heck even the plain vanilla was yummy. The chicken tenders and fries were portioned nicely. The hotdog and the burger were tasty.

It would have been nice to have other dipping sauce options like ranch or honey mustard, but only ketchup was available. Not sure if it was due to Covid-19.

We saw this place on our way to 4 Corners. Made it a point to stop on the way back. Long lines. The wait to order about 7 minutes. Drinks were another 10. Food got to us 30 minutes after the drinks. It was hot and fresh. I had the Reuben special with waffle fries. The reuben was good, hit and tasty. The fries were bland . No salt or seasoning. The rest of my party got burgers and onion rings. The rings were VERY good..The burgers were ok. I had a malt. It was very flavorful.

Outside of the wait, this place is great!! Classic burger fries and shake. Hard to mess up! The shakes are really thick. Not a huge seating area but if the weather is nice, you can sit outside on the deck along the river which is fun.

For a coffee, maybe it's okay, for the rest to avoid.

Waited in line for 45 minutes for a shake and burger several hours later was throwing up and had all the signs of food poisoning

I have been to this establishment multiple times. Each time has been less pleasant than the last. I just popped in with a couple of the fellas for a quick ice cream. A woman who I presume was the owner, took our orders. She was rude to us, and extremely rude to her employees. She was telling them to give us less ice cream to save money and just being wildly inappropriate. Dont yell at Your employees in front of customers. Don't talk finances in front of customers. Learn some respect.

Great place to stop. Reminded me of Frostys in Denton TX.

If you like shakes and burgers this is the place to go. Usually pretty busy but you get your food in a timely manner. Outside patio has a great view of the San Juan river. It's in a nice old Oldtown location so there is some shops nearby. Everything here is great to eat and is Reasonably priced

Literally just order a milk shake staff was a aids n douchey and the food was shatt. But the chocolate milkshake was absolutely heat.
