The Malt Shoppe Review

It can get pretty busy and isn't a very large location. They have waffle fries which I like. San Juan river access behind the building is a plus. The burger was fine.

A small soft serve at malt shoppe is like a Large anywhere else you go

Great food. Usually burgers and hot dogs are super greasy but the ones I had here were super clean. Also, the ice cream is top notch. Great place to take the family for lunch.

Good food and friendly staff to call in a pick up order from. The patty melt was good. All staff were wearing masks. Much appreciated.

Good place. Been around in Pagosa a long time. Shakes and malts are great. Good burgers, Rueben's, fries, etc. BlackBerry shake is amazing.

If it's busy, wait! It's so worth it! Especially on a hot summer day! I especially loved the raspberry malt!

I wouldn t come back here for the food. It is overpriced and cafeteria quality. They only gave us one chicken strip at first until we asked for two in a strips basket. My $13 burger didn t come with fries - everything is a la carte. We didn t even get ice cream because we were so disappointed with the food.

Ice cream was marshmallow fluff.... not worth the wait.

There malts were pretty good and their shakes. lots of flavors and add-ins. The line was extremely long to order (+30 min) at around 2 in the afternoon. Food looked really good and the staff was super nice even though it was very busy.

Delicious Mixes with Candy they call "Avalanches" and the shakes are delicious.

We stopped in for ice cream, not much to choose from. Would not recommend if you are wanting some yummy icecream.

They have made some great recent changes! Food was great this year!

Staff was rude. Wouldn't even make eye contact much less smile. I wouldn't spend my money there again.

The staff were rude and seemed like it was the world s biggest inconvenience to wait on you. The food was subpar from what it used to be (2 years ago) the fries were soggy and the Malt was extremely runny.

Great place, great shakes. They keep you entertained while waiting for your food!

I couldn't get a malt because they were literally out of malt. What is going on here.

ice Cream sundae was ok, but generic and nothing special. Most concerningly, the ice cream prep area behind the counter was beyond filthy - there were flies, disarray, and trash everywhere. We were very close to walking out before we even ordered. Employees seemed exhausted and understaffed. They were out of a lot of items, based on the people ordering in front of us. Maybe it's better when it isn't a Sunday evening.

Workers were very rude. Food was below average. We ordered a grilled ham and cheese and they forgot the ham. When I asked for ham they didn t even apologize or acknowledge the problem.

A great place to visit in Pagosa Springs. Excellent food and friendly staff.

Food was good but the service was extremely slow. Took one hour for 3 kids burgers and there wasn't even that long of a line.

Stopped by for a burger, and a shake. Food was good. My little one really enjoyed her shake. Really wished the whole staff was using masks though.

Slow as hell. It took 40 + minutes to get 2 chili dogs and 1 shake. They do have a help wanted sign up. Someone please go help them!

The wife and I were walking through town and seen the Malt Shoppe and had to stop in and try out their chocolate malts. Glad we did! It was a hot day and their malts hit the spot!

I have been here twice, and both times the order was wrong. It would probably be helpful if the staff wasn t half baked.

Waited 15 minutes for a small chocolate cone, and a blueberry malt! Once we saw people getting their ice cream that had ordered after us we said something..very rude staff! One guy looked like he had literally rolled out of bed then came to work, because he had pajamas bottoms on! What a joke!

I have been here multiple times as a kid and loved each time. The wait sometimes would be super long but the staff was always rushing around going as fast as they could. I came back to try the breakfast and my only complaint would be the empty cup and the biscuits and gravy had only a few sausage pieces in it. The burger I had the other day was pretty okay. Nothing amazing but not bad. Used canned mushrooms which sucked. And the food is reasonably priced but it IS a tourist town so the prices are a bit higher.

A bit of a pain getting to order..because of covid. Delicious though.

The food is okay but the malts and The Avalanches are great! We visit Pagosa Springs every summer and we make it a point to always stop by the Malt Shoppe!

Love a place that knows the difference between a malt and a shake.

Good shakes and great burgers. One of the cleanest restrooms I've been in.

We went twice during our stay in Pagosa but walked out the first time due to incredibly slow service. The second time (mid afternoon) the line was still ridiculous and service was still incredibly slow, but we waited. I wouldn t go back.

We stopped here and got a malt and lunch. The malts and chicken strips were so good. The waffle fries were good too. They were busy so the service was kinda slow.

Great place for a burger and a shake after a day of hanging out on the river.

Over priced and frozen meat patties don't bother going there

So I usually don't leave reviews in general for places but I feel the need to for this place the malt shop in Pagosa Springs just be sure and ask for a hot dog bun if you get a hot dog Or check it before you drive back to your hotel. And then when I called the place they just told me know that's not normal but didn't offer any solutions... Strange

The shakes were great. The wait time of 45 mins was awful. The burgers were awful. My burger looked sad and disgusting. I wish I had taken a picture. If it was just the ice cream, it'd be four stars. Go for the ice cream, not the food.

Love the ice cream. I take the whole family including my dog to get a chocolate cone.

We went there for lunch and it was pretty good! The wait was a bit long, but there were a lot of people and it looked like the kitchen staff were working as fast as they could. The food was good, nothing special though. The chocolate malt was also very good! One thing to note is that their medium sizes (for drinks/malts) are pretty small. But you do get free refills on soda. My family of 6 ate lunch for about $54 so it was pretty reasonably priced. Overall, good food and a cool atmosphere. Don't go if you're in a hurry though.

Took over an hour to get 5 burgers. They weren't busy enough that it should take that long.

food is decent the owner however is always in a bad mood and snaps at the customers staff is disorganized and messes up orders

I mixed a coffee malt with extra Oreos and it was delish!! Highly recommend!

Oh my lord. These malts are the best and their food is top notch. Friendly staff and customers. Ill be back before my vacation ends! 9/3/19

You can't beat the malt shoppe. Their malts are amazing. If you're looking for classic, burgers and malts this is your place!

Good food along the lines of burgers and chicken, definitely good ice cream and malts! Only problem was with the wait, it's a smaller building and the line builds up at the door quickly.

Cool atmosphere but all we did was stand in line. There was a shortage of workers so no one was taking orders. We left after 10 minutes.

Place is overpriced, service was exceptionally rude, it advertised old fashioned burgers and they looked like McDonald's. The malts where made with soft served ice cream. We didn't eat the food we threw it away!

Fries were pretty good. Bathrooms could use some work. The stall doors don't shut or lock. Super busy too.

Best burgers, onion rings, malts, and shakes, around. My whole family loves this place.
