A very disappointing stay. The rooms are tired and well worn, the service is slow, I cannot give one positive. The breakfast was inedible as well. We were kept up by a party, when we called reception they said they couldn't hear anything!! I have stopped at better premier inns

My mum took me here as a special treat as I get married soon. My mum had emailed to say this and got an acknowledgement. When we arrived the room the room wasnt ready for another 2.5hrs. We did get a voucher for 2 free cocktails. The room was basic, not what was expected from a 5 star. The bath wash grubby. Not enough toiletries, 1 bathrobe and 1 pair of slippers. When asked for another bathrobe the staff were unsure what we were asking. When we went out and came back. The slippers had been moved onto the bed and my shoes moved for some unknown reason. Beds were comfy. Disappointed that there were no spa facilities apart from a small relaxation room and treatments. Next day had my massage cancelled due to illness which is understandable . I was very underwhelmed with the whole experience. Staff dont acknowledge you in corridors and felt like we were judged because I was wearing black pants and shirt and not dressed up.

Nice and chick. Manchester's five star is London's 4 star and internationally a 4 star too. Compared to hotels in Asia for e.g. i liked the bar local crowd. Rooms are good size. The staff and booking system can mess up. Better call than book online.

Good location for getting to the main attractions in the city centre. Really nice bedrooms which are spacious and well decorated. All communal areas also very nicely presented. Food and drinks in the restaurant are excellent and service also a high standard. Breakfast is very good quality and excellent selection but service quite poor and rushed which doesn't make for a very relaxing start to the day. Unfortunately, a lot of building work outside which doesn't make for a great view or access by car at the moment (spring 2017)

Over priced. Bad service. We will not be stopping again. Been in hotels with better services facilities. Wonder if its because we were not famous enough. This was supposed to be a weekend to remember. For all wrong reasons. Just look ar th 5 view from our room. A car park. Look at the lovely bathrooms & 5 plastic furniture. Lovely? ??

Comfortable, classy and friendly. I stayed here for the weekend and was really impressed with how cheerful and welcoming the staff were. It came across as genuine service rather than the somewhat staid pomposity of some more generic 5* hotels.
The room was a good size, quite swanky and well equipped, and while the view wasn't spectacular, I'm not sure what people expect of an inner-city hotel.
The only downside? No swimming pool! How can a modern high-end hotel not have a pool?

Gorgeous decor. Loved the art work and floral display s. River bar and grill decor was wonderful. Clean lines. Contemporary design. Great use of colour. Attention to detail was so good to see with linen, crockery etc. Food was sublime...But not as hot as I would have wanted. Presentation of food was superb. Missed a side order....But dealt with promptly. Staff very efficient and obviously well trained professionals. But.....Some staff lacked warmth and I felt their questions and responses were a little automated...I am a big fan of Customer service when there is a connection made between the staff and Customer. Today felt a little transaction for me...Would have liked a top up of water....Will be back to experience a bar snack...Thank you The Lowry team x

Amazing service and food for our afternoon tea to celebrate a special occasion. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The adult and child's menu was lovely and the quantity was right for an afternoon tea. The sandwiches were beautiful and the desserts were amazing. The resteraunt is on first floor looking out over the river and was easily accessible via steps or a lift for older or disabled visitors. Highly recommended. The kids and adults loved it equally.

Visited for a dinner function. The service was ok - the waiter had to return several times as he mixed the drink order up. Wait between courses was far too long and the meal was very ordinary.

OK

This hotel is the most amazing hotel I have EVER stayed in. I am a regular guest and every year I am treated like a star. As soon as I arrived I was greeted by Brian one of the concierge who remembered me, he unloaded all luggage from the car (which was then parked for me) and made sure reception knew my name to check me in swiftly, receptionist recognized me & was lovely. Brian escorted me to my room and unloaded the trolley whilst chatting with me and asking how I was etc...lovely.
The room is huge! From the walk in closet to the spacious bathroom, massive bed, huge tv, lovely river view and complimentary Christmas treats made by the chef!
I popped downstairs in evening and was greeted by Prakeesh the manager who knew my name and was asking how I was and was interested in my plans etc. (This is lovely for me as a single person at Christmas). There was a number of reindeer decorated to find in hotel...lovely Christmas thing to do.
Slept really well after lovely warm bath & towel robe!
On departure concierge were there as soon as I rang and it was Deepak who I have met in the last few years of staying, he was very pleased to see me and as we loaded the trolley we chatted lots...love that Deepak is so so friendly. I went to check out and by the time I had my luggage was in my car and awaiting me. The doorman (man with glasses who I forget the name of) was pleased to see me as he recognised me & I felt sorry I could only stay one night as I was made so welcome.
Already booked for next year as Prakeesh organised my booking for same rate etc.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

5 star hotel indeed, that's if you add up the mediocre 3 star food and down right bad 2 star service. My wife's boss unfortunately booked us in here for Sunday lunch for her 40th, I cringed when I heard. We had a awful experience here before and low and behold nothing had changed if anything it's got worse. There are many better places to eat Sunday lunch in Manchester, grab a dart and throw it at a map of Manchester you will have better luck.

Response:
1) We were booked to have Sunday lunch in the River side restaurant not a function room upstairs, we were aware of the refurb but this doesn't matter as its not where the person who bought the gift thought we would be eating.

2) When I booked the table I was made to quote the gift voucher code, fair enough. Now being a 5 Star hotel YOU do the leg work, you contact the experience provider check the code is valid maybe get a little information, then when the client arrives you can be ready and professional instead of spending two minutes looking at a computer screen/seating plan. Then pipe up "Oh it's a voucher, well have you got it with you then?"

3) We weren't sat down 5 minutes until someone asked us if we were ready to order, I mean give us a chance to relax? An air of lets get these voucher plebs out of the restaurant as quickly as possible.

4) We didn't order starters as the choice was uninspiring to be kind. Our side plates and knives and starter cutlery weren't removed, laughable in a 5 Star hotel, waiting 101.

5) There was a party of about 14 having lunch in front of us I actually took a picture of one of the ladies getting up and pouring wine for table I couldn't believe my eyes.

6) A couple sat beside us and they had no glassware on their table so the server picked up glasses from another table, sloppy and unprofessional.

I'm not even going to go on to the food because I can't be bothered to waste any more of my time. Just know that as a ex-professional of 20+ years in the service industry I thought it was a shambles from start to finish and you ruined our day.
