We come here often. Our favorite times to go are when rain is threatening as there typically arent many people. Overflow parking is a hood option and is a short walk from the entrance. Excellent displays and terrific staff. It is a world class zoo to be sure.

I love the zoo, it's a great work out. I have certain animals I like to make sure I see every time I go, and yes they do get to recognize you after a while. This is my second year w a membership and I would not give it up if possible. Thanks to the people who make this place possible and affordable as well as all the care takers

We went to "Brew at the Zoo" on August 7th and had a really fun night! Not only was the event well organized with live music, djs and tastings everywhere, but I was also really impressed with how friendly and helpful all of the staff were. One event staff saw us walk past a crowded area twice (surprised she even noticed us!) and approached us herself saying, "you look like you are trying to find something, how can I help you?" Of course, the zoo during the daytime is always fun- the bird show is a highlight!

Fabulous zoo.

Fabulous zoo.
It is tardis like. It looks small on the outside but is much, much bigger inside. So make sure you are ready for a long walk and undulating too, as it winds its way up the hillside, but well worth it for the animals you get to see.
Great hands areas where you can meet some of the animals close-up, especially the giraffe and staff very informative and helpful. Our granddaughter loved it but she enjoyed the petting area with the goats best we think as she could get really close to them.
Direction signs were a little off sometimes and we nearly went off the wrong way. But loos (I still have to get used to American type loos- big gaps under and over doors-not private enough for us Brits, sorry) and restaurants were easily accessible we ate at a burger place with free refills on soft drinks although a picnic to take with you would be a good idea if spending all day here.
The shop had a great wide range of gifts for all ages and budgets too. It was a real standout memory for our visit to LA.

The LA Zoo is always nice, but was saddened by how small the Lion enclosure is comparatively to many other animals. The Lion should be treated with the respect of a larger and encompassing enclosure that the King of the jungle deserves.

When we visit the LA zoo, it s usually random. Due to the Covid restrictions, we had to book reservations online. This process worked out very well and we did not have to wait long to get in. Once in, you must wear your mask. We had plenty of opportunities to pull our mask down to breath the fresh air and enjoy the animals as it wasn t crowded on the Monday we went. Once we seen ppl walking up, we politely pulled our masks back up and moved on to view the other animals. Most of the exhibits were closed due to Covid and the zoo isn t big, so we were there maybe a total of two hours. I just wish the LA zoo had more animals, but for the price you pay you can t expect much.

Such a busy place! Nice selection of animals to view. Wear comfortable shoes as you ll be walking far, both up and downhill.
Bathrooms are usually pretty gross, but stocked. The limited availability of seating is difficult. There s a major lack of food stands and choices. Some of the sales/promo booths are usually empty. They have ONE mister to help keep patrons cool since it gets so hot there, it would behoove them to install more around the park. For such a large, spread out zoo, the maps are few and small. The employees are professional, but not very courteous or friendly. Parking is spread out. A few habitats that have been closed and are still in desperate need of renovations, but just sit empty with no notices or signs explaining what s going on.
There are plenty of improvements Los Angeles SHOULD consider for this place and many ways to enhance it that remain neglected.

Huge Zoo with lots of great exhibits! The staff there was very friendly and the landscaping was extremely well kept. I don't have any children but I did notice a lot of activities for kids to do.

Not able to see the elephants which was not one of the animals listed as unavailable. The male gorillas were no where in sight. Maybe there could be signs of the type of animal in more than one place. But over all not bad for the cost of a ticket.

LA Zoo was doing BEST JOB of anyone in the city with safety. they had hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE not crowded plenty of social distance etc. i have loved going every two weeks and seeing the animals the best thing to do during this awful time. i dont understand why the city thinks its okay for huge movie crews which ive seen filming all over the city to film, but i cant walk alone outside in the sun to see animals. its ridiculous. also whenever i walk anywhere on the street TONS OF PEOPLE not wearing masks noone does anything but then you cant wear a mask and see animals walk and get exercise. its insane la zoo is great and deserves to be open. i miss the animals!!!!!

The price of admission, no complaints there. I packed lunchI & took my 2 granddaughters, 3 & 5 for an adventure, and that's exactly what they got.
They didn't mind that they could not see over the chain link fences since grandma & grandpa were there to save the day.
Also not sure if it was the time of the day, 2 pm, but the animals were so lively that the girls just could not get enough of the exhibits. So in my girls eyes the day was well spent.
Cons: On 2 occasions I could not see through the glass, gorilla's glass is scratched and should be replaced and sea lions splash glass was just filthy. Also with it being in the later part of the day, trash had built up. Unsure if there is staffing issues but did not see any staff sweeping or picking up trash.
Ultimate question: Will I return? Yes, definitely.

I feel like animals get a little depressed in those tiny cages, especially snakes and amphibians, let alone hippos. The zoo is beautiful and the animals are well cared for, the service is good but I consider the cages to be tiny

The park has been closed for more than two months but it finally reopened on Tuesday, Feb 16th. It is a great zoo! There are so many exhibits and so many species! My favorite place to visit is the tropical bird and reptile exhibit and the big cat yard! The peacocks that roam around freely is a real treat. The staff is really professional and they take great care of the animals. They even take great care of visitors! They really made the experience special for me. I was definitely there to see the animals but I got the sense that some people were there just to get out of the house! And with capacity capped at 2,400 people per day, with a maximum of 400 allowed in per hour, there is lots of room for people to stagger themselves one 'zebra' apart...haha

There are not many animals. This was answered by the Los Angeles Zoo. Go earlier since the hours they handle are very limited. They should open earlier. The truth is there are not many animals and it has many closed sections. Other zoos in the world are better. Thanks for answering.

Expect to walk and climb. This is one hilly zoo. We enjoy taking our kids and seeing the animal kingdom up close. There is lots of we'll planned vegetation to provide shade. The food is expensive but is actually reasonably flavored.
