Our reservations for the grill were at 530. By 7pm we still did not have our food. The cocktail I ordered was only ok, the service was slow and not very good. The other interactions with other hotel staff was stellar, too bad the grill was not that good.

So this place is quite possibly the best hotel i personally have ever stayed in.
They spare no expense minus the razors.
The staff are very sharp and very upbeat even tho their work lives seem like youre in a repeat mode of the stepford wives. The housekeeping was flawless. The food is real (but pricey). On a beautiful course. And a fully functional facility. A must visit in the area if even just for dinner.

An amazingly enjoyable experience. I wasn't sure how I would be received. An Iraq war veteran. USAF, (OSI) reconnaissance. I'm an African American. (Black man). 4th generation military. 1st generation college graduate in my family. Engineering.
The front desk manager, managment, staff, Hotel restaurant manager, Spa personnel and the entire team were completely first class.
From my dietary preferences and restrictions. Proper handling of my Kosher food policy. Obtaining a room with privacy quiet and scenery was absolutely perfect. The room experience was impressive. C.L.E.A.N. comfortable, relaxing. I truly appreciate your 24/7 hrs. a day room service. Maid service is very good. Please pay your staff well.
Your name is only as good as your staff's ability to perform their daily duties, activities and responsibilities well.
Staff members went far and beyond out of their way to be helpful.

Honesty, professionalism and down home kindness was very much appreciated. I'm not one of those Fortune 500 Companies executives whom employees are flown in for the holidays. I'm a regular person. Not fancy, stuck up, spoiled or going around sleep walking in life. Trying to enjoy life after military deployments.
Cons ... Managment didn't offer any kind of military discount on the room or anything else. I kept a low profile. Didn't want to be a bother. Loved the SPA and Swimming pool. Dancing and entertainment directions were impeccable. Thank you for the directions.

This summer vacation has been exemplary.
Thank you for treating me like a VIP. You made my stay remarkably wonderful.

From smelling like a camel and a desert goat ... to looking dapper, (Suit, Tie, Wingtip Shoes), haircut, smelling good, feeling refreshingly clean and comfortable.

Thank you for welcoming me back home from my overseas deployments and years of military service. God bless you all!

Sincerely,
Ulysses Wynn, Jr.

We had an event for my boyfriend's school here and it was fantastic. The food was delicious. The views were absolutely amazing and we had a wonderful time. I definitely recommend looking into the venue for any events. Or just a wonderful place to stay while in town.

Rico at the front desk was amazing!

We had overall a good experience at the lodge, even un COVID times. Everything felt safe. Rico helped us get a room with a balcony, which was much needed for socially distanced chilling, and even help open the hotel store before hours so that I could get my wife some ibuprofen!

Facilities are nice, if a bit stern at times. Somewhat disappointed that the golf course doesn't allow pedestrian traffic on its paved areas, it would probably make for some awesome walks.

Great service and room. You can call on the front desk for almost anything. Rooms are very nice and spacious. Bathroom is fantastic with a really neat thick glass door. It has an arm hole in it so that you can turn on the shower without even opening the door. Lodge is equipped with a very nice 18 hole golf course.

Beautiful and peaceful resort with a lovely staff and incredible views. It can be stressful to travel during Covid-19, but the Lodge made us feel super comfortable with all staff wearing masks, sanitizer everywhere and even a little welcome kit with masks, hand sanitizer and wipes in our room. We spent a lot of time on the balcony looking out onto the golf course and oceans. It was serene.

It would be a mistake for me not to share how delicious all the food was, but in particular the drugstore hamburger (as named on their menu) was unbelievably scrumptious and during our 3 night stay we each had it twice...

The room was spacious and the bathroom was quite large including a separate deep bath tub and shower. If you bring your own face masks, like we did, you can create your own spa experience.

Tv selection is limited to live television, but if you call down to the front desk they can set up a Roku for you where you can login to your favorite streaming services during your stay.

For those golfers out there, the lodge offers to handle your clubs upon check-in and for your whole stay. As well as they will guarantee you a tee time on either the North or South course during your stay.

All in all a wonderful stay and we highly recommend it for locals and far away travelers.

Enjoyed a lovely Valentine's day breakfast at their restaurant - AR Valentien. The ambiance and that restaurant is really beautiful. The inside is warm and gorgeous and wood-paneled, and even on this super rainy cold day, it was pretty to see the trees moving in the rainy wind. The service was really great as well.
The food was as expected. We had strawberries and cream, steel cut oatmeal, and the salmon avocado toast. (though my husband would recommend skipping the fish flake topping on that...)

Incredible scenery....

Incredible scenery....
Blue skies, blue ocean, cliffside views overlooking the beach and La Jolla coastlines.
Paragliding along the coast, and the Airforce Base launching various cool aircraft and helicopters try their best to distract you from breaking the course record (61 on the NC, 63 on the New SC)

And the course is in really great shape also!

Played the North Course, which features a 3 hole stretch they call "The Undertow" The toughest 3 hole stretch on the PGA TOUR.

Friendly staff and service that make you want to cancel your flight and stay another day.

One of the best public courses you'll ever play, with some of the best weather you'll ever experience. Warm and dry, with a cool breeze from the ocean.

If you are thinking about a golf vacation.... BOOK IT HERE!

I have never encountered front desk staff that were so helpful and attentive! Even the valet staff had genuine smiles and made friendly conversation. I ve stayed at 5 star hotels before, but the service at The Lodge is above and beyond. The grounds are manicured to perfection and the rooms offer a rustic style that could be compared to a Colorado mountain resort.

Special thanks to the front desk manager team for a wonderfully memorable weekend!

This is a world class golf resort on the ocean. It is a large complex of hotels, The Lodge being 1 of them. It is rustic & done in the craftsman style. The grounds are beautiful landscaped. The pool is salt water with plenty of waiter service. The rooms are dark but that's because it is Craftsman & therefore dark woods. Nice balconies. & beautiful trails that lead to the ocean & the cliffs. I think the place needs a freshening. Hallways are very drab & unwelcoming. Place is like a maze. Staff is wonderful & very accommodating. You would expect this of a high end hotel.

Location- superb, nothing wrong with ocean view, but the hotel itself is by the ocean, the golf course is. If you want to play golf and get a decent tee time, you have to stay in the hotel. Golf course is beautiful, the review is for the hotel.
Service - definitely NOT five star, our room wasn t cleaned without the do not disturb sign. They finally came clean after we called the very last night a few hours before we checked out. This was the only time our room was cleaned.
Overall Value- it s not the worst, but definitely not worth the price we paid.
This is an old and outdated hotel. Hallways and rooms are all very dark, most of them have no views whatsoever. TVs are outdated, can t use the Hulu or Netflix app on it.
It wasn t a fantastic stay as we anticipated. Not sure if we ll ever be back here.

What a beautiful whimsical place. The golf course is right here, which for you golfers, you will really appreciate. This place reminds me of something out of a fairy tale, it is so well put together. The lobby has a really nice fireplace that you can smell from outside, and it just invites you to come in and sit down. Staff are really friendly and accommodating. would revisit in a heartbeat.

I was here for the Celebrate the Craft event and the venue is really beautiful. The Lodge is a bit hidden away as i had never been there before and didn't even know where it was prior to going. The service of the people who worked there were very friendly and accomodating. The bathrooms were large and clean. I didn't stay there but the view of the golf course and ocean was extremely peaceful looking out as we ate the delectable food.

Ordered the fish tacos after a round and they were they driest most flavorless tacos I've had in San Diego. Also had a delicious beer flight. Considering the location I'll probably give them another chance.

First time to this property and it ranks amongst the best service we've ever had. Very attentive staff and super well maintained. Great food, views and facilities. Everyone was sincerely friendly and always willing to help.

Impeccable service and delicious food. We come here every year for our anniversary. I often eat here for Sunday lunch too. Both restaurants have amazing chefs and food. Great for a retreat from the daily grind or a fun date night.

Lobby was under renovation when I was here which made getting around a little challenging especially with the rainy weather. Rooms seem a bit used based on appearance of furniture, shower and softness of mattress. I would be hard pressed to call this a 5 star hotel as I typically stay at Marriotts which are 4 star and this not anything special. However, the local Marriott was booked up so I thought this would be an upgrade, not the case. Missing my M Lounge access. Also, not much noise buffer from other rooms or hallway. Nice, but definitely not a 5 star resort.
